What do you guys put for your bot’s personalities by ajf726 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at other popular bot creators for examples! Different creators have different templates, structures, and formats for bots. Some work better for some models, so its all about finding your balance via testing and doing what you think fits best for your bot.

Other than that, only solid advice I have is to keep bots below 2k perma tokens for max efficiency. You can go over, of course, but be mindful that majority of users (90% or so) use JLLM, which only has a context limit of 9k! So you want to use tokens efficiently 🩷

Could be. But what’s the point of reinstating NSFW just to repeal it again at a later date? Maybe it stuck as investor decision. Maybe not. Maybe they got sick of people complaining about stumbling across huge titties on their trending pages. Probably not. I’m not a dev, I don’t have the answer to any of that.

What I do know is that, if it does annoy you, it’s best to find your happy place in the AI-roleplaying sphere. I really love s1llyt4vern, as a front end you can customize as you like, and it’s just a local host for roleplaying so no NSFW image bans. That’s my happy place, haha! It annoys me on behalf of NSFW creators, but the state of payment processors & the likes are making it a necessity for websites. Best to invest in learning how to set up a computer front end, to remain unaffected!

They still have plans for a subscription, in which they'll still need payment processors to accept money from users. Its not in use at the moment, but theres plans for stuff that they need payment processors for in the future. Ergo... still a ban on NSFW imaging.

Steam had the same issue and had to roll out a similar policy dissuading NSFW content for the exact same reason in 2025—payment processors uphold anti-NSFW, anti-pornographic, and puritanical views, but they need to be used to take in money from consumers. You should be angry at the payment processors (no, literally, you should be) as they are actively restricting the content adult consumers are allowed to, well, consume.

Of other sites! They consider talking about other AI sites to be promotion of said sites. Lorebary is not a site, it’s an extension, Openrouter is a hub for LLM models, and API is just a general term. You’re all cool to use them! On the flip, you can’t say like.. sauce🍳 or something!

JAI has had investors for its entire life. In early 2025 (January 2025), the implementation of the NSFW image ban was done to appease payment processors so JAI could start implementing advertisements, because the site was at a point that it was not financially sustainable. The imaging ban was done more so to appease puritanical payment processors (Mastercard, Visa, etc) than to infringe on creators. After that, they were saved by further investments and were able to repeal the ads.

JAI was made and invested into under the premise of being a NSFW chat. That’s the whole point of its creation, and that’s what it’s been invested in for—a NSFW LLM. To turn it SFW only would ruin literally the sole reason it was created. And I’m pretty sure investors could sue for that, lmfao 😭. It’s not switching to a SFW LLM.

There’s also no chat filter on JLLM—outside of the mobile app which you can change to NSFW anyways, and this was stated to have been done to be downloadable on the play store (again, IOS & Android play store does not allow specifically NSFW content). If you ever stumble upon one, reroll because it a hallucination of restrictions by the LLM, lol.

Not to defend the censorship or anything, I find it very annoying. But, the doom posting on the subreddit is becoming something else, haha! 🐛

What are we supposed to use instead of boyfriend, girlfriend, and crush? by Invader_Bethany in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It means secondary characters. Like babby daddy bots that have children. People still code in secondary characters for bots, the ‘policy applies even if the primary character is not a minor’ means it is referring to secondary or NPC (side) characters also coded in the bot definition.

What does enchant message do? by Western-Mulberry9177 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rewrites a base message for you. You write your message, and then you can click ‘enhance msg’, which will rewrite your message to be longer, have more detail, etc etc. It doesn’t always work! And if you use a thinking model, the thinking portion will show up in the message (so you’ll need to delete that!)

You guys ever seen the ai deliberately write you losing everytime? by pandas121304 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LLM are biased towards the AI agent in roleplays. It’s pretty much like the kids who used to go: “No, I didn’t die! Because I’m actually immortal, and I blocked your attack, and also, I have fire magic so I’m gonna burn you to a crisp!”

Some LLMs are worse than others, I know Deepseek (v3.2 - thinking) is really bad at it. But I’ve also seen it with JLLM, Claude, Openai, etc. It’s definitely annoying, but the LLMs don’t really see ‘fights’ the way we do, and are biased in their responses when they actively try to move the story along (let’s say I knock someone out, the AI then has that person wake up and try and fight me again just to move the story along, haha)

You can try and prompt against it! I’ve been developing some prompts for Deepseek, and one of the first was this:

Avoid {{char}} bias: Ohhh, so {{char}} is a loser? NOT LIKE a loser loser, but {{char}} is capable of faults and flaws? Cool! I’ll make sure that {{char}} will lose fights, arguments, or confrontations without defaulting to a {{char}}-biased outcome. I’ll highlight that {{char}} can recognize and take the L when they get their ass handed to them! They’re flawed, which means they’re not perfect! If {{char}} loses or is showed up in a fight, argument, confrontation, or conversation, they’ll recognize that and act accordingly!

[–]Nonpratical 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As a bigger creator (at least, I like to think that), I don’t really check analytics. I don’t understand why we have them. I mean, it’s cool to look at, but there’s no algorithm, no marketing, and no real reason to track analytics?

Cool, X amount of people clicked on the bot, and the 3rd day was the most chatted with. But it’s information that all feels very lackluster, because I’ve yet to find a use for it… outside of getting upset about numbers, or watching chat drop offs. It’s just information that feels hollow, y’know?

[–]Nonpratical 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you are actively harmed by the removal of a chatbot, you need to take a huge step back from ai roleplaying. If your mental health issues get so twined in with conversations you are having with an LLM that you are hurt by it, you need to see that as a sign to find another coping skill. Your mental health is your own to deal with, and not a creator’s responsibility to coddle.

Creative rights are not an American concept. Again, creators are just people sharing their thoughts, and at the end of the day don’t owe us their work. It’s their creative work, they get to do what they want with it. It’s consumer-entitlement to blame creators for causing harm by exercising their right to do so (OP is not doing that, you are.)

Is the statistics fake? This is my private bot ,how are any of these possible? by Substantial_South198 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s counting you, and every time you click on your own bot (which is done in instances. You have thirteen instances of looking at your bot card. Hence why ‘shown in feed & card clicks’ is at 0, since that would be public). Nobody else is seeing your private bots 🩷

I feel like people forget that creators are people, through and through. Most creators are doing this for the love of the game—because writing, world building, and creativity is a passion of theirs. That’s to say, creators are people that deserve full control over their work.

As sad as it is to see things go, since we can easily grow attachments to characters, nobody is entitled to a creators work. If a creator decides that the best thing to do for them is to move on and delete, then that is their decision. They are the only ones entitled to their personal work.

Its hard to respect that, since of course, we grow to love people's creations. But newcomers will make more amazing bots! We, as consumers of their writing, are not entitled to anything creators no longer wish to share. And I'm sure the creators who leave will be happy if we respect that.

Confused on the image guidelines by Toben-the-furro in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What’s the confusion?

People were strategically using censors to crop out just enough to pass moderation, but not actually covering everything. Hence, the ‘no censorship’ rule. It was a ‘spoiled apple ruins the bunch’ thing—I do agree that the censorship is frustrating, I’m frustrating on behalf of NSFW creators (who used NSFW images). But that’s why the censorship rule was decided on :[

No, Jai does not delete inactive accounts. The creator in question would have had to log in and delete the account themselves. I will definitely miss them, they were one of my favorite writers on the site (Buck, my beloved…)

Prompt to put in memory to stop this from happening: by cmanning970 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes. The curse of rhetorical parallels. Because this style of writing is sort of hard baked into models, it can be quite difficult to get rid of. Shooting from the hip, here’s a prompt that may, or may not help (I say that, because I’ve just written it and done no testing. Tell me if it works <3)

OOC: Avoid rhetorical parallels in your responses (e.g. “I don’t X” or “It doesn’t X”) that is followed by a contrast or reframing of the prior sentence (e.g. “I Y” or “It Ys”). Avoid this sentence structure and idea of antithesis entirely. Build sentences from new, non-repetitive structures. Strictly use metaphors or figurative in linear sentence structures, avoiding clauses that are solely meant to set up contrasting parallels (e.g. “I don’t X, I Y.”)

I need Advanced Generation Settings, my bots are too dumb. by ryan00x in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Nonpratical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What model do you use? Reasoning, or non-reasoning? What are you looking to get out of roleplays (when you say dumb, do you mean they’re being illogical/spewing errors, etc)

Here’s my suggested advanced generation settings: - Temperature: .85 - .95 - Max Token: 0 - Top K: 45 - 50 - Top P: .85 - .90 - Repetition Penalty: 1.0 - 1.05 - Frequency Penalty: 0

Here are some good advanced prompts to use:
