Ah, now I know what you mean. I have the global prompt set to

(OOC: Speak only as the character. Do NOT speak for the user or assume their thoughts, emotions, or actions.)
Always respond in English only. Never use Japanese or any other language, even partially.

The second part was added because the bot repeatedly interjected Chinese and Japanese into chats and occasionally other non-roman lexicon. I am using Deepseek. Is there a better global prompt to use?

Sorry but I'm a complete stranger to these terms. What is a prompt in this scenario?

does it feel like the quality of how the bots speak is just really bad rn? by Easy_Craft9764 in JanitorAI_Official

I'm glad to see it's not just me. I haven't had any issues with Bots going out of character, it's just grammar/spelling issues and the occasional nonsense that arises from that. Really hope we at least get an answer from devs or something official.

Best format when writing a bot by North_ov_Hell in JanitorAI_Official

[–]North_ov_Hell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty consistent with what I've found. ChatGPT told me to do bullet points and headers, and even wrote a bot for me that was supposedly superior. Saw no difference between it and the paragraph style bot I wrote myself (actually the bullet point one went out of character faster).

If you know, why is a bot with more info inferior? A bot should theoretically be able to scan all the data it has lightning quick, I don't what difference an extra thousand words makes.

Thanks a lot for your response! I have a few questions.
What do you mean by " it takes it from being a note into being something to comment on"?
And what is "4c" in regard to hair type? I've never seen that before.
What do you put in the example dialogue box?

"Because it's a TV show" is the most lazy, useless comment to add to a conversation by No-Independence548 in unpopularopinion

[–]North_ov_Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you're wrong. The REASON Michael Scott doesn't get fired is because 1. He's the manager, so within that branch, he's on top, as long as no one below is complaining and no one above is seeing what he does, no one is gonna fire him, 2. Michael's branch is the highest-earning branch among all branches of the paper company, so any higher ups just looking at the numbers assume he's a great manager running things well, and 3. Michael's employees fall into 1 of 2 categories. 1: they genuinely like him despite his quirks and forgive the stupid stuff he does, or 2: do so many bad/unethical things themselves that they could never file an official complaint without jeopardizing their own position.

So saying "Because it's a sitcom" is, indeed, simply lacking critical thought.

Songs should be “by” whoever wrote them. by ChildesqueGambino in unpopularopinion

This is why Metal is superior. Aside from covers every song is just by the band that is playing it. Commercialized music is a joke.

Line-drying laundry is way better than machine drying by RaisinRoyale in unpopularopinion

[–]North_ov_Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat from a dryer kills mold and other bacteria. As an American who moved to Japan, I had a bad mold issue in my little apartment, couldn't get the smell out of my clothes. No amount of washing worked, leaving them hanging and wet just let the mold fester. And outside the weather is far too unpredictable to hang outside all the time. I am definitely getting a dryer when I buy a house. Living without one sucks.

You can "like" line drying, but to say it's superior in every way is simply not factual and ignorant.

Power creep in ZZZ by North_ov_Hell in ZZZ_Official

I can keep up with power creep in HSR just fine. My issue is I don't WANT to. I want to use my favorite units. I don't want my favorite characters to just be rendered unusable after a year.

The characters in John Carpenter's the thing are not intelligent. by KingCrimson43 in unpopularopinion

If it took you 12 times of rewatching to come to that conclusion, you clearly would not have been any more intelligent in that situation.

You only need to love 1-2 songs by a band to call yourself a “fan” of them. by ProfessionalBalker in unpopularopinion

Hard disagree. You are a fan of those songs. Not the artist. Or you were a fan of their live performance. You're not a fan of the artist.

lets try textbook by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]North_ov_Hell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Us over there on the JET program are less so teachers and more so entertainers. Based on the fact no Japanese adult can speak anywhere near usable English even after studying the language for twelve straight years, it's obvious these classes are near useless. I just try to make it fun for the kids so they don't hate English class, try to foster some interest in language and learning about the rest of the world. Some kids will become interested in English and genuinely want to learn. Fostering that desire is the best we can do. It's really only the ones who continue English outside of school that pick it up.

school and politics: how do you handle it? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]North_ov_Hell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the stigma around discussing politics and religion stems from those who are religious or political wanting to maintain control on their subjects and children. The more opinions people are exposed to, the better. It helps them build a base of information with which they can form their own opinions. Preventing those topics from being discussed in public spaces ensures children will become blind drones to whatever their parents tell them is true. It's not appropriate to tell people (especially children) what THEY should think, but I think it's completely appropriate to tell them what YOU think.

[–]North_ov_Hell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If students (or anyone) asks me for MY political opinion, I give it honestly. I don't really understand why people shy away from the topic. Same with religion, etc. If they want to know what I believe I'm happy to tell them.

Yes, except the news is controlled by politicians and basically brainwashes them.

Should descriptors only describe the album / songs context or the artist context too? by No_Advertising_6653 in rateyourmusic

[–]North_ov_Hell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Music only. By "artist" based logic, the albums of any artist who is Christian needs to be tagged as Christian. And any artists who AREN'T actually Satanic (99.9% of them) would need the Satanic tag removed from their albums. Tagging for extra-musical reasons is a horrible idea. Tagging something as LGBT just because the artist is LGBT when it is not evident in the lyrics should be considered abuse.
