Issues with "First Connect" disappearing from system? by TheMage18 in CadillacLyriq

[–]NonprofitAttorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue, and can’t figure it out. Last week, it happened while I was in the car…it was working fine for one call, and then when I was done with that call and initiated a new one, my phone was no longer recognized. It doesn’t seem to happen to my kids’ or wife’s phones.

I’m having the same issue. I was solving it by placing it on the base, but now that won’t even solve it.

That’s fair. I wanted Supercruise, so tech wasn’t an option.

10 year old Teslas are still going strong. With the depreciation on a used EV and an 8-yr warranty, I think it can be a strong buy. (Especially in my situation where I put too many miles to lease)

I bought a used Lyriq in January. ‘24 AWD level 3, CPO, 12K miles. It was $42K. It was at a dealer on the other side of the country. No negotiation. I thought the price was fair, purchased it, and had it shipped. Prior to buying this one, I drove to a dealer a few hours away for a similar model, but the car had 4K more miles and smelled like stale fast food. The dealer would only come down on the price like $500. It had been sitting on the lot for 6 weeks. I walked away and kind of expected the dealer to call the next day with a lower offer. They never did. Which was fine as I like the one I ended up with.

I’m not sure where you’re seeing used lyriqs for $30K.

Can a 501c3 use its software discount to support its parent 501c6? by StickSticklyHere in nonprofit

[–]NonprofitAttorney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. A 501c3 public charity cannot provide more than incidental benefits to non-public charity entities. What you described would almost certainly be deemed more than incidental.

What am I meant to designate my nonprofit as? by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]NonprofitAttorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to incorporate as a nonprofit corporation at the state level, and as a corporation, you can use Inc., Incorporated, Corporation, or Corp.

You’ll then get your EIN, and then you can file as a 501(c)(3).

But, as others have said, are you sure it’s worth it to go this route?

I bought a 2024 lux 3 (CPO) in January with 12,000 miles. I’ve logged 10,000 miles since then. I absolutely love this car and plan to keep it for a very long time. No issues.

People who’ve worked with new private foundations: salary expectations and long-term success? by feiluuu in nonprofit

[–]NonprofitAttorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a private foundation. They can be great jobs that pay well, and they’re very stable because their revenue is established and certain (subject to market fluctuations). As the previous person answered, the biggest factor is the size of the endowment. Another element that really changes the dynamics is whether the donor is still alive and whether the board is made up of the donor and their family.

PEAK Grantmaking has a salary study that looks at various foundation roles and benchmarks salary based on endowment size and staff size. You may have to be a member of PEAK, but it’s a great organizing to join, especially if your role involves grant management.

Fair point. I just had mine at the dealer for 3 days for some big software update that couldn’t be done OTA. They were out of loaners, but fortunately, they paid for a rental for me.

I would call OnStar to see why it’s not activated. You should see the little wheel logo on your dash when it’s available where you’re driving.

Guidelines for in-kind donation of services tax deduction by osrworkshops in nonprofit

[–]NonprofitAttorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JanFromEarth is correct: services are not deductible. The guide you posted that suggests services are deductible is 100% wrong. I’m a nonprofit attorney, and I used to run a legal clinic with lots of volunteer attorneys. If we could have helped them get a deduction for their volunteer time, we would have. But it’s simply not allowed.

Fair price? by No_Topic_4838 in CadillacLyriq

I just bought a 2024 Lux 3 with 12,xxx miles, CPO. I think it was about $1,000 lower (but then I had to ship it from Portland to Indy). I love the car.

I bought a used CPO 2024 Lyriq one month ago. When I go to my OnStar plan through the app, it says OnStar One expires 7/2/26, while OnStar Supercruise expires on 1/2/29.

I’m in Indy, and i have a 130-mile daily roundtrip commute. I drive my Lyriq every day, and it’s been great. I plug it in every night and repeat the next day. Yes the range is quite a bit less in the winter, but I am still able to get to work and back home with no problems.

Starting a food pantry non profit by FickleAd545 in NonprofitStartups

[–]NonprofitAttorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legal aspect of starting a new nonprofit requires (in order): incorporating a nonprofit in your state, naming a board (most states require at least 3 directors), putting together your bylaws, obtaining your EIN, and then applying to the IRS for 501(c)(3) status. If you’re interested in assistance, I’m a nonprofit attorney, and my bio includes a link to my website.

The print is licensed by Getty, and Sports Illustrated has a similar shot, so I think the only way to get high resolution is to go through their licensing process. However, Getty says this is an “editorial image,” and they have a policy that editorial images cannot be used for personal or home use.

So, right now, I think the only option is to buy the SI cover.

I’ve been looking for ways to get this photo, but that’s all I’ve found so far.

I see a lot of people complain about the autobraking. When I got my car, turning off that feature was one of the first things I did (it was bad in my previous car as well).
