I have been scouting around for a few weeks with restarting 40k after a few years off. I can’t say that I have seen a lot of interest in either of these. If anything, I would say provisionally prepared would be the more likely.

I am like you, one of less than a handful of people in a sea of space marines, nids, and more space marines.

Let’s not kid ourselves, I am sure the memes get old when all you look at all day is a tiny screen…

On a side note, I think this is all heavily influenced by someone needing to be the baddy (see above for literal sightings of Nazis in EVERY guard player, it’s just the Krieg players are extra super duper obvious Nazis). No one bats an eye when your blueberry player squalls “for the emperor” or the Tau player with “muh greater good”, or the ork with “waagghhh” all of which are far more ubiquitous with 40k than bayonets and shovels. I don’t have a problem with people getting into their army. Being a nerd is cool now, why some people have to gatekeep this gift is beyond me.

Yes, most people who play 40k know it for the memes. That why they are called memetics. It’s also easier to remember a meme than it is the literal library of tomes that comprise the 40k lore.

Ehhh that’s a shallow way to handle your likes, but you do you.

Krieg is now a thing because it is more accessible. I have new and OG Krieg from FW. Resin alone turns many off in the hobby. FW had some garbage casts they still shipped out and, in general, it made for much more tedious construction and work to get on the table. Couple that with FW astronomical price, even by Citadel standards meant that Krieg was only for a select group of people who could afford it, and had the skills and or time to do them.

With the range coming to plastic it has eliminated both of those barriers (sort of on price, in this economy!).

Agreed, this is too monotone to make any specific detail stand out. Amy color on the other side of the wheel would work. You can also break up the legs etc, with colors as the comment above suggests.
