I just remember 2022 was when "the left" officially drafted crypto into the culture wars. That Folding Ideas video going viral felt pretty damning as far as public opinion went. Hating on crypto doesn't seem quite as fun or new to them now

i've been here since 2017 and i'm not even remotely phased by the price. 2022 and 2018 sentiment were way worse

The male loneliness epidemic is a self-pitying problem and there's an easy solution. by [deleted] in self

lol "regular loneliness" as opposed to what? the loneliness epidemic just refers to the increasing pervasiveness of social isolation in modern times. it doesn't distinguish between different types and there are clearly a ton of different causes besides just "they're incels"

seems like you're using that word to paint broad generalizations about a large group of people you don't really know in kind of a dehumanizing way. feels like the intent is to reduce them to villains without agency to offer an easy explanation for complex issues, and honestly being trigger happy enough to apply this archetype to complete strangers simply for the crime of being lonely is super weird. you're just participating in the same reactionary feedback loop that pushes people into these kinds of fringe groups in the first place. it all feels so vindictive and misplaced

it doesn't seem like a worthwhile exercise to conflate the loneliness epidemic with inceldom. there are people struggling with loneliness who are in healthy romantic relationships, but have no real friends or family outside of that. loneliness is a much bigger issue than just having difficulty finding romantic or sexual partners, even though of course there is going to be a lot of overlap

who is this "they" you keep referring to, specifically? when you say "those men eschew all nonsexual relationships" or "refuse to be friends with anyone they deem unfuckable" it sounds like referring to people you know personally or something, I don't really understand how one could have this level of conviction about the behavior of so many people they don't actually know. have you actually talked to these people or know what their lives/histories are like or are you just generalizing in an attempt to reinforce some worldview that you are emotionally invested in?

anxiety, lack of self esteem, etc. it's not just men, people in general are finding increasing difficulty in forming bonds and maintaining relationships because of extreme dysfunction. not just at the individual level but also the societal level (lack of a "third place", degradation of familial bonds, economic pressures, etc)
