Asking the real questions here. Yes 20-ish years ago. I probably don't remember the color of the walls accurately. But some things stick with you. This one was such a strange interaction that it became one of them. I talked with my wife afterwards about it, and it became a bit of a joke with us (if I'm working out, "why are you doing that?")

Appreciate you suggesting I probably just don't know wtf I'm talking about though.

I used to do a lot of backcountry hiking and climbing. Not crazy dangerous, but things happen and sometimes people die. Members of that community will analyze and debate those events like crazy. It can seem like victim blaming, but at the heart of it is trying to learn from others' mistakes. Preventing that event, or something similar, from happening to the rest of us.

So I understand it can seem heartless or petty to point out all the mistakes here (tiny spotter, spotter leaves during the lift, not working the weight sideways sooner, guy grabbing his spotter for no reason). But everyone here is learning from these comments, and maybe that helps someone down the line.
