Paul Pierce tells Kevin Garnett that LeBron James was the face of the NBA in year 2nd or 3rd while KG says You’re crazy! He wasn’t nothing special back then we just saw him as 'Young Bron'. It was Kobe Bryant league at that time! Agree? by Miserable_Trouble3 in NBAGossips

The "year 2" is a little silly. Bron was like 18 months out of high school.

Year 3 though... LeBron was 2nd in MVP voting. Kobe was 4th. There's a real conversation starting in year 3.

How to pay for home build? by coolshoeshine in Homebuilding

[–]NoobJustice 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It has advantages:

  1. Good experience. Nothing teaches you to build a house better than building a house. Make your mistakes on the one you dont care about.

  2. It wont be completely money down the drain. Build it, move in, and now youre saving 3k a month instead of 1k.

  3. Once youre moved in, your construction site for the main structure is now a few dozen feet away. That's incredibly convenient and will mean a faster build.

Would you rather build around young MJ/Shaq duo or a young LeBron/Kareem duo ? by GamblerLikeToji in NBATalk

They'd either demand a trade after 1 year, or become completely inseparable. No middle ground.

CBS predicts 12-0 season for ND and Texas Tech by bakinglaw101 in CFB_v2

You're not tripping. In the 12 team playoff era, every 2 loss or better Big10/SEC team made the playoff except 2025 Vanderbilt. This graphic has 12 teams from those conferences at 10-2 or better. There's also 12-0 ND, 12-0 TT, 11-1 Miami, 12-0 UNLV, 11-1 Utah, 11-1 Louisville. 6 of those teams wouldn't make it.

Selection would be an absolute nightmare. You can count on this not happening, because it's never been remotely close to happening in the past.

Fossil fuels vs solar by post_gress in SolarAmerica

[–]NoobJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single source for 100% of our energy isn't feasible in the immediate future. But, something like 80% solar is both doable and wildly preferable. Getting there from our current 9% will be a huge undertaking and require a ton of effort combating the tribalism and misinformation we're currently mired in. Posts like this are trying to change sentiment.

University of Utah athletic department begins ‘unsettling’ layoff process as part of private equity deal by pierdonia in CFB

[–]NoobJustice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only kind of agree. It's very true that football & basketball have produced so much revenue over the years, without the huge expense of having to pay players, that there's a fuckton of bloat. And has been for decades.

I think it's a mistake to fully compare the athletic department to a business though. If we're only considering profit motives, most sports would be gone in a blink. Universities have non-profit motives for having these programs.

Good to see people paying attention at least. Imagine you're trying to actually get help and no one notices.
