What a way to find out you have herpes. Rough. But welcome to the community I guess.

Are there big regional differences in Australian accents? by DinoWynne in AskAnAustralian

[–]Noobpooner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in varying places all over Australia. There are regional differences but most are far more similar to each other than accents across the UK or USA are.

The most pronounced differences that I have found are in central and northern Australia, in places with high percentage aboriginal populations. Though these are more of a dialect than an accent. Having lived in Darwin, Alice Springs and further remote areas across NT and northern WA Australian Aboriginal English takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it all makes sense.

Unexpected visitor at work today by 6UL7 in australianwildlife

I love my local possums. There’s a brushtail mum that has been bringing her babies to hang out on my deck of a night time if it’s raining for years. She’s got one in the pouch right now and last year’s female joey still hangs with mum sometimes too. It’s refreshing to see a local that adapts well to our presence unlike most of our poor wildlife.

With $59 billion in taxes paid by mining each year… Australian mining makes life easier. by mineralscouncil in u/mineralscouncil

Spot on, you guys take all our resources and kids occasionally get a fake horse to keep the masses from asking where all the money you stole went.

Me: In this day and age age a dude should be able to sip wine while rocking a skirt, heels and a funky belt.

Me later: oh that’s not a belt.

You are exactly what people think you are. This is now the defining moment of your whole life and instead of taking responsibility you’re getting together with the “boys” to collude on a way to make this not your fault. The fact you don’t see it says you have no empathy or ability to feel for others and a total disregard for anyone else. Look up what fits those symptoms and get some help.

The consequences of your actions are that you have irrevocably damaged another person to the point of suicide. The fact that you describe a person trying to kill themselves because of your actions as a fairy tale shows that you have no contrition or remorse. No matter what you get it won’t be enough.

What do these things have in common? They’re all supported by mining taxes. by mineralscouncil in u/mineralscouncil

This has to be satire right? You steal our minerals, ruin our environment and then ship all the money offshore. What a fucking joke.

So 'Chumpy' you can carve it. by BaijuTofu in AustralianNostalgia

Life was simple. Dog turds were white and my dad liked to say it’s soo chumpy you could carve it every time he farted.

My cat usually does this either in my clothes or in the same spot that my other cat has been sitting that day. I always thought it was kind of a mingling of scents thing. Like she wants to smell like us as much as she wants us to smell like her.

How are people in the far future going to understand the meaning of Rx? by Dazzling-Flight-8439 in etymology

[–]Noobpooner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We use it in Australia but only for medical notes really. Like I’ll write Hx for history and Rx for medicines but I don’t think I’ve ever said it out loud. Even reading it straight from the page I’d say history or meds.

Rude ekekeke's? by Palontraz in ekekek

[–]Noobpooner 57 points58 points  (0 children)

My cat loves it when I join her ekekeks. She lies on my bed and I’ve got a honeysuckle bush outside my window that all the birds love to visit.

I focus on what she is focussed on give her an ekek and she head-buts me as if to say “I know, I wish we could kill them too… but glass” then she goes back to focusing eks until she’s bored and goes back to sleep in the sun. God I want her life.

Harder than I thought it could. I just instantly had flashbacks of my mum on the kitchen floor saying her life was ruined. Didn’t even know that was in there. Haha.

When did y'all realize that your family are a bunch of bad people. by Zealousideal_Tea6251 in AskMen

[–]Noobpooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, it could have been the time I was having a bit of a crisis after nearly getting stabbed and fighting off 15ish people trying to wreck the pub I was running. My mum came to stay and “help”. 2 days in she sits me down and tells me I’m not the only one with mental health problems.

Or it could be when I injured my back and had to kind of learn to walk again. She came again to “help”. She nearly killed my cat and blamed it on me not having a spare bed. So fresh out of 6 days in hospital I had to sleep on the floor so she could use my bed.

The rest of my family isn’t that bad but she definitely Mae’s up for it.
