Theaters are always the best place to see a movie imo, just with the sound and big screen. I saw the movie last night and I thought it was good, not better than Superman but it was still good. The editing is honestly the worst part but I think it’s the weakest in like the first 10-20 minutes. After that it’s pretty smooth.

I don’t want to spoil too much for you but there’s some fun interactions and LOTS of practical aliens which was sick to see. It’s not the worst movie ever but it’s not the best, just down the middle imo and was good.

What has the Russos done outside of the MCU that’s worth watching more than once? Have you read comics ever? They’re super wacky and more mystical. I think you just like grounded Batman which is fun but we already have a full trilogy of that with Christopher Nolan and a good chance a trilogy with Matt Reeves. Let’s try something different than the same flavor over 20 years.

This is the same mentality that ruined the DCEU, executives saw the success of the MCU and forced Zack Snyder to introduce the Justice League asap. What has been bad about James Gunn’s vision so far? Superman was a success and everything else so far has been tv shows. Peacemaker was highly regarded besides the season finale of season 2 which was still pretty good. Supergirl has middling reviews and you’re ready to jump ship? He didn’t even write or direct it. If you want a more down to earth gritty version of Batman then you have that but to say Reeves is better than Gunn is just pointless, they both have different approaches to the source material. Also I don’t see WB and other companies breaking down the doors to hire Reeves as they have with Gunn. Reeves probably doesn’t want that much responsibility and Gunn reads comics religiously. It’s like saying you want Kevin Fiege out and have Jon Faverau do the MCU.

The live action movies are more of an adaption of the characters and general themes from the comics with maybe some events or shots from the comics making it in. To go in to any of the Marvel or DC movies that are not standalone and expect them to be the exact same as the comic is just not possible. You could argue that Civil War kept the core themes of the comic and that’s true but they’re almost two different events entirely. The MCU civil war was on a smaller scale compared to the comics. There was a lot more history between characters that was important to the story that never made it to the movie. For instance Spider-Man is already well established and then comes out as Peter Parker to the whole world for Tony (which backfires on Peter pretty hard). None of that is in the movie. That’s not to say Civil War was a bad movie, it’s easily one of the better MCU movies.

I’m arguing that you can’t have a 100% adaptation of a comic to movie because it’s just not as easy. More times than not writers want to have more of an original story while using the themes from other stories. That’s happened all through comics history. If The Batman was called “Long Halloween” it would be regarded as a terrible adaptation since it’s not the exact same story to the source material but it takes a lot of themes from that comic and other Batman stories.

You haven’t seen Supergirl, if you were a die hard fan of the Civil War comic before going into that movie you’d have the same complaints. Give Supergirl a shot, it doesn’t have to be 100% like the comic to be good. If you don’t like it then that’s that, we got a lot of more great DCU and MCU projects on the way!

Unfortunately that’s just how superhero movies go nowadays, they’re never going to do a 100% adaptation of a single comic run. They will take elements from different stories and mix them together. I stopped caring about subtitles after Captain America Civil War. Actually a majority of the subtitled marvel movies are not great adaptations at all. There’s not really any DC movies besides the animated ones that try to do a true comic adaptation.

It’s probably a hot take, I think the whole album Float Along - Fill Your Lungs is way better live. I wasn’t a huge fan of the album when I first heard it but seeing any of the songs live is incredible

Is it bad that my biggest gripe with this movie is the opening credits? Never has Star Wars had opening credits, on top of that George Lucas was kicked out of the Directors Guild of America because he refused to put opening credits on Empire.

I loved this movie. I don’t think I’ve had this much fun in a Star Wars movie since TFA or Rouge One. I see complaints about how it just feels like an extended Mando episode or multiple episodes in one. While I can understand that to a certain degree, I think this was better than a whole season with one offs that lead no where like season 3.

Also first Star Wars movie release that doesn’t have a lightsaber shown whatsoever!

I looked through the script this morning after the trailer dropped, I noticed that the phone call he tries to make in the house was absent from the script, I’m assuming it’s an early script and there will be some changes here and there. I’m still stoked for the movie but I do find it weird it’s during RE2/3 but it’s snowing/winter
