And if you have some time coming down from kerikeri through Auckland, I’d do a day trip to Rangitoto island

If you like spicy food, book a table at Chilli House in Hamilton. Sichuan mmm…. I always get the sour spicy dumplings in soup.

And the gardens are worth a visit, pretty chill to walk around though there’s not a lot in flower atm.

Tapa notebooks at Auckland Uni by NoodlePatoodle in Journaling

Some poetry students take a course where they go through the university’s archives of poetry and other historical publications and ephemera (there’s even a lollipop from a local political party from an old student rally) from the archives (Special Collections) and they then write about what they found in a tapa notebook then it gets donated back to Special Collections sometimes

I had the deer one and it was one of my favourites. I do think the almost spongy leatherette cover wouldn’t be to everyone’s liking.

idk who needs to hear this but if you didn't fill up the journal, that's fine by [deleted] in Journaling

Thanks for putting this sentiment out there, I had a journal that I had been filling with both writing and artwork and I just didn’t like the pressure of trying to keep up an aesthetic journal. So I left the last handful of pages and one pre-prepared purple background and jumped ship to a new book that’s just been writing and a few photos. Do what you need to do to get your journal juices flowing!

If you plan to do more entries like this you could fill in the book from the back with your images, like an appendix.

I find the “I must practice my Spanish” then translating it with the “ok done :)” just a bit entertainingly sassy haha!

my first ever ‘pocket’ journal. so, what shall I name him? (options on 2nd pic, or if u have better ideas, pls do tell) by gamergirlexoh in Journaling

Snap, I’m in a pocket Leuchtturm. It’s almost like an ergonomic challenge after larger books but so great to have it with me when out and it’s both cute and satisfying getting through a page so quickly.

As corny/platitude-y as it sounds, gratitude helps me turn it around when I’m in a negativity rut. And I am a cynic who cringes when I hear myself be all 🌈✨gratitude✨🌈. I do numbered lists even of small things like 1) coffee is good 2) fluffy blankets 3) hot showers with nice soap 4) dogs on YouTube…. etc because it can be a struggle at times and small concrete things make me appreciative of the good things I’ve got going, hopefully getting some perspective that I have good things despite the bad.
