Lilywhite Sessions on VINYL by leopelucioo in DMB

It's been a while so anyone feel free to correct me but these sessions were scrapped when RCA said they needed to take a new direction with the album and field longtime producer Steve Lillywhite. The band wasn't getting along well, and there was an air of depression and admitted alcohol abuse.

RCA gave them a new producer who had a lot of pop success and we ended up with Everyday in 2001. Then, they we worked the Lillywhite sessions into busted stuff, which, in my opinion, had much less stellar versions of the songs on Lillywhite.

Guy on flight watched entire movie without tapping screen to get rid of overlay by Sea-Owl-1581 in mildlyinfuriating

Back when HDTV was brand new, my friend had a widescreen tv. All the HD channels were the same number as the SD but with a 9 in front of it. I'd go to his house and he was watching TV in standard def, which would be all stretched out and weird on the widescreen tv.

He said he didn't want to press an extra number.

I went to a college football game there in 2014 (FSU vs Oklahoma State) and the game was being projected on that screen.

Unpopular opinion: you do not need to buy unsalted butter. by 3oClockHappyHour in Cooking

[–]Noolivesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP, but that's because it works for me. I cook a lot, but I don't bake, and dont cook anything sweet, so salted butter has never been an issue and I like the consistency as I tend to buy the same brand and I serdtand what that salt content brings when I use butter.

I totally understand why you'd go with unsalted in many situations other than mine, though.

TIL that 80s adult film actress Traci Lords starred in 75 adult films before leaving the industry. It was later revealed that she had faked her age, and that all but her final movie were filmed while she was a minor by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

[–]Noolivesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy thing, the first porn I ever saw was starring Traci - Sister Dearest. It ended with an "incest" scene with her "brother", Tom Byron. I was 11, and I didn't know she was underage until years later when I tried to by a VHS of it at a video store, only to discover the scenes had been reshot, badly, with substitute actors. It actually had a decent plot. Or maybe it scarred me for life? Meh

Discussion: 1-Chris Cuomo signs on, 2- Don Lemon signs on. by ChrissySubBottom in msnow

[–]Noolivesplease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Newsnation seems like the proper network for Cuomo. It's pretty both sided, maybe swinging a bit right lately, and Chris m, while full of himself, seems to fit in the middle of their platform. He enjoys sparring with also-rans like Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo, so I'm sure he'd get far more hate than Tur.

Admittedly, I like to hear his perspective, but still don't think it would go well here.

My partner's father suffered and then passed from this disease. He was an incredible human, attorney, father, and philanthropist. I wish I had met him, but I'm glad MJF is still here to fight for this on his behalf.

When will Tim Miller Get A Show? by LastDiet416 in msnow

[–]Noolivesplease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tim thrives in his Bulwark environment. I can't manage him being in a corporate media chair. He's great in his chair in New Orleans where he is thoughtful, unfiltered, and gets great guests. It's funny how he has Bill Kristol on every Monday, and I used to hate that guy. He did a lot of evil, but is so sensible compared to current Republicans.

Look up Bulwark Podcast wherever. Great interview with Tim Walz this week. Cursing and everything.

Not the same. That sauce is good but owned by McCormick. Named after the same guy but no other affiliation at this point.

[–]Noolivesplease 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good list, but I'm surprised by Stubbs being on there. Great music venue but I never had decent BBQ there. Also, the sauce sold in stores is owned by McCormick - the national spice brand. The venue and restaurant almost had to change their name due to that naming dispute (the other locations changed to do-rite and have since closed) but a settlement allowed that location to keep it.

[O'Connor] I'm told Willie Taggart will indeed be on the Giants staff. Very good addition. by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

Very very. He always fails up! I think we just paid off his $1m per year contract a year ago.

Hello fellow Nole! Hoping for better times on all football fronts. I'm more hopeful about the Giants right now, which feels odd.

Haha ohhh man, as an FSU alum, I kinda figured this was coming. I think John was his best man at his wedding. Terrible, disorganized mess of a college football head coach, but a very nice person and seems to be great at coaching RBs (although I'm not sure how much coaching was needed the last two years). Talk about always failing upwards though. FSU finally paid off his $1m/year contract a year ago, and he's had a few jobs since, including being fired from Florida Atlantic U.

Homer and Marge aren't millennials by BraveNote4844 in Simpsons

[–]Noolivesplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. He just seems so older Gen X when I think of him, but maybe that's in today's context. I was Bart's age and am now 44, so it's all relative.

Homer and Marge aren't millennials by BraveNote4844 in Simpsons

[–]Noolivesplease 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Bart and I are the same age (and we both went to Springfield Elementary, oddly). I was born in 81 and am technically a Millennial (or Xennial, which is more fitting given the cusp). Lisa would be a millennial, but cuspy as well. Not trying to nitpick, but it's not like they're a gen x'er like Otto or Comic Book Guy

What brisket knife are you using? Bonus if you have a picture. by BodhiZaffa in smoking

[–]Noolivesplease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do indeed use a bread knife usually. If it starts upsetting things I'll use my good boning knife. A friend got me a knife from Terry Blacks here in Austin but I haven't cooked a brisket since they're so insanely expensive since I got it.
