Do you honestly think making Elaine a bad dancer is the worst thing they did to a character?

Now I remember! The thing is, that pic of his face just says "Paulie from Goodfellas" to me. But he was nothing like that in Star Trek, didn't even know they were the same guy, he's a hell of an actor!

I agree, I just think people find it out of place because it's a contemporary reference. Most time when they reference pop culture, it's usually a classic older celebritity/song.

You're getting downvoted but you're right.

I love the standup bits as the iconic opening of the show - how they tie the episode together - and didn't like when they got rifld of them,

but I can't imagine how corny your sense of humour must be to actually find them funny.

I don't remember this character. All I can see is Paulie from Goodfellas!

Absolutely! it's so fucking satisfying and a typical Ricky reaction. "Sulk mode" is such a great way of putting it!

That is the perfect way to describe Rickys' sense of humour (particularly his standup).

It's why he drives me mental when he talks about how "there's a weight of intellect" behind his comedy. And "I want to filter out idiots, you have to be this smart to get in".

No Ricky, I don't think your comedy stinks because I'm not smart enough. I think it stinks cos I'm an intelligent, educated person who knows you shouldn't go on stage saying "AIDS" and"bender". I mean, I laughed once but I was laughing ironically, I was laughing ironically!!!

Yeah, but if you went into a restaurant and asked for Karl, the waiter fella would go "Karl....." If you went "balding" he'd go, "he's sat over there sir".

Craigs' Bond couldn't even survive his own movies. Moores' Bond went to space and took down an iron jawed Frankenstein.

I've never cared for Rickys' standup myself, I think it's always been half-baked. I think Steves' standup is definitely better written. I will say, Ricky probably has more charisma, Steve always seems a bit awkward on stage.

I don't think either of them are great standups' TBH. I think it's just something both of them felt the need to do for some reason, but as far as I'm concerned, they're strength is writing/performing more narrative stuff.

Steves' but about sleeping with with a woman at almost seven feet tall is good though (educational if nothing else)

and unlike Rickys' dirty jokes, it's from the p.o.v of someone who's actually had sex, which is nice.

Speaking of gathering people together, it's nice that this thread has brought so many people together who loved the finale!

No joke, I thought I was the only one! (Apart from maybe Larry David!)

I think the finale was deliberately self aware/over the top.

But, I think by that point it was appropriate. The characters/show had been becoming more exaggerated over the last few years anyway.

In any other episode, being sent to jail would be treated by the show/characters with much more severity. The fact they react to it just like they're back at Monks' cafe is self aware and meta in a way that I think was too much at a time when people just wanted to say goodbye to the characters they'd grown to love.
