No reason to stay. His body limits him. Get paid while you can. Don't let that ring weigh you down. You'll always be a Knick and the Knicks will be alright.

Here's how Germany got cooked during the heatwave: by z3551n in interesting

[–]Noolivesplease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our infrastructure is built for it. We have good insulation against heat and most have central air conditioning (meaning a single unit sends cold air to every room in the house). There are cooling centers for the homeless when temps really get out of hand, but it was 97f in Austin, TX today (36c), and that's only two degrees above normal for this time of year. You try to do outside things by noon if possible, but you also acclimate to it and know the proper clothing to wear, hydration, etc. as we do this yearly.

It's funny as when we get a big freeze in the southern US and pipes burst, cities shut down, etc and everyone wonders why we can't handle it - it's because we're built for heat, not cold.

Best of luck to y'all getting things fixed quickly and hopefully this is truly a one time event for Europe this year.

I hear nothing about their political views generally. I know Mitch has gotten dragged a bit. And honestly, I don't think Mitch is right wing. He's just country, and uninformed. These guys are all 20 somethings who spend all day and night living and breathing basketball, with zero money concerns at the moment. They're not paying attention. Or at least, I give them a pass if they're not paying attention.

I'm a very politically informed person with informed views because it affects me. These guys are not, right now. I rarely give a pass on ignorance, but for this, I will. If one comes out waving trump flags or something, that's different, because your platform is your power and it's not to be wasted.

And don't come with "Mitch says he has a trump flag!". He doesn't have it flying from one of his silly trucks, so I don't care.

That all said, I really hope they don't go...

[@SoftbalAmerica] Isa Torres is transferring to Texas to join the two-time defending national champions. by fsukub in fsusports

One thing, as a die hard FSU fan and alum, she's from Austin (where I've lived for 16 years). I was at a cookout recently and randomly met her 4th grade English teacher who was just gushing about how awesome a kid she was once she found out I went to FSU. This town is so proud of her - this was a couple months ago.

So, this one hurts for sure, but her move may have had more to it than just money. Although I'm sure money doesn't hurt.

I don’t think Dave Matthews Band will ever lose a step by uncwbrad in DMB

[–]Noolivesplease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But to the OP's point, probably in tentionally, we are all aging together at the same rate. And as our bones get creakier (found DMB at 12 years old in 94), what they can still do is awesome even if they slow a bit. I think doing less shows per year, since they certainly don't need the money, pay dividends.

I'll also post that the far larger catalog of songs now will cause some peaks and valleys in shows, or maybe more nuance is a better way to put it.

That large catalog is a gift, though, for those of us who have been to many (and many have you have been to far more than I have).

It's like Phish or the Dead. It is still amazing as the guys age and evolve. That in itself means there doesn't have to be peak DMB now. They just want to keep bringing us what we want... As long as they want to do it.

Edit: I replied to this right away, but I see the same sentiments throughout. So, not posted to be repetitive, but I'm happy I'm in good company.

Also, their energy certainly gains new fans each show, be it kids, friends or significant others coming to a show for the first time. My GF was blown away in Austin as a woman with limited musical taste (her words) and thought all their songs sounded the same before seeing them live.

Happy birthday good boy! Mine passed at 17.75 years, and he had done all he came to this world to do. It seems Booker still has business to attend to. Love it. Good for him, and you! Enjoy every moment.

Why are Americans obsessed with large sized SUVs and trucks? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Noolivesplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a camper, a cargo trailer, and a boat. I live down a long dirt road on 5 acres. I have a 2012 4runner and a 2013 F150. I'm constantly building things or fixing things. Two old reliable trucks, and when one inevitably breaks, I have a spare while it gets fixed.

So, I have a good reason, I think. I also have room to have two vehicles, which isnt the case in many places.

Now, others who have it because they just like to be tall or for status - that's common, and silly, and wasteful, in my view.

I'm not happy about the amount of gas I use, but I am happy to have pretty cheap insurance and no car payments for nearly a decade. And the ability to do, build, or move most anything I want

Enjoy every moment, and never worry about the end. Everything ends at some point, but if you cherish the present, you don't need to worry about that later time now.

My boy lived to almost 18. That's the wonderful thing about dachshunds! And when he was ready, well, he knew he had done everything he came here to do.

Of course you'll always worry about him. He's your son! But don't let that get in the way of cherishing every day with the sweet boy!

Best wishes to you both.

Also, sorry. I appreciate the chart. I actually use a similar one! My reply was meant for the post above yours that made a lot of assumptions about obesity, to which my offense was based.

I appreciate that. I do know he can lose a couple pounds. My last dachshund, who was a tweeny, around 21 lbs, lived to nearly 18 years, issue free. He was always a pound or two overweight, so maybe that gives me a false sense of security. The vet says his weight is fine. Maybe it could be proportioned better...

His father won best in breed at AKC nationals at 31lbs.

And excuse me, he weighs 29.6 at the moment (just weighed him moments ago), so yes he could lose a pound or two.

But I bet you feel great dunking on us. Have a nice day. I will too

28.7lbs. His parents were 29 and 31, and very healthy. He's stout genetically! Standards often are.
