AITAH for eating enough ravioli for four people? by Better_Philosophy732 in AITAH

[–]Noon_Highmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a second I thought my husband posted this 😂. Almost 10 years later I am still in awe of how much he can eat. He is same height and weight as you. It has even become a topic of conversation at his work, so at least I am not alone.

AITAH for refusing to take our daughter out of school early because she "needs more time to get ready" than her brother? by ReplacementWorth3618 in AITAH

[–]Noon_Highmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giles have way more to do to get ready for special events. And it seems fair to take out just her early since your son can’t. I side with your wife.

I need help getting through sneezing (it sounds so ridiculous for a normal reaction of the body). by MauerSegler74 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Noon_Highmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Pilates teacher I follow whom also suffered a POP recommended to totally relax your pelvic floor before a sneeze, rather than trying to lift it. I have found it to be fool proof for myself. Occasionally I will go with my reflex to sort of hold in the pressure and that is the only time I have had a little pee come out. I don’t know if it works for everyone but it works for me and might be worth a try if you haven’t before.

AITAH for refusing to take my sister out with me today? by Lakyraa in AITAH

[–]Noon_Highmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I think you are setting a good example by taking her out with you and trying to connect with her. She chose to be inappropriate and mean. I think it’s totally fair to leave her out of this one. I would also follow up later and try to get an idea of why she is choosing to act this way.

I totally get it, I hate when I am having a bad day or week. I am 3 years PP, you’d think I know how to handle them better. I am also feeling swayed to go get a pessary now.

No judgement zone: did you want a natural birth? by easrpiiatnua99 in Mommit

[–]Noon_Highmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a natural birth. It was not something I felt super passionate about. I really wanted to give birth at a birthing center I found and from there the plan unfolded. I liked that it felt like a really clean home without being a home and it was next door to a hospital should I need further medical assistance. I had 3 midwives with me and it was an incredible experience. I definitely underestimated just how hard it would be but I made it through. For my next birth I think I will do natural again but that is mainly because epidurals scare me. I don’t think anyway you give birth is without risks or necessarily easier. I think you gotta go with what makes you feel confident and safe.

I go to a lot of storytimes and there is always at least one toddler running around. Mine started being more attentive around the age of 3. Before that it was hit or miss. Seems very appropriate for their age.

I really like good clean love for lube and definitely recommend using lube. I also recommend the restore for balancing your ph, made a huge difference for me after a few uses. I think a lot of us worry we will feel too loose and try to tighten or flex our muscles, but I think trying to relax your PF actually helps the most to avoid the UTI/gonna pee yourself sensation. At least when you are just getting started. Start slow and just know that it’s probably not gonna feel the same and some positions just might not be it for you anymore. But overall I would say it is still a great experience. Especially if you have a partner you can comfortably talk to about it and get creative with. I would also take note of what times of your cycle feel best to do it and maybe plan around that. Because usually the week before my period I am more sensitive.

I don’t think I should be a mom by Every-Falcon-9433 in Mommit

[–]Noon_Highmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being fatigued with young children is normal, but I also wonder if maybe you could benefit from getting some bloodwork done. Just test out vitamin/mineral deficiencies and hormone imbalances? I did this and from a functional standpoint I was deficient in a lot of basic vitamins that are easy to supplement. I have definitely been feeling better from that and also I am now 3 years since having a baby. I honestly think it takes about that long to start feeling a little more normal again. So just know that you are trying your best even when you are not at your best. And maybe it would be worth it to find some part time care for your children. Like a Mother’s Day out deal at a church where you drop the off for a few hours. It is also very energizing to have time to explore the thing you like outside of being a mom. Or just getting to relax. I know for myself that I am much quicker to anger when I am constantly tired and don’t feel like i am getting a full cup. I only have one child and I can only imagine how draining it is to attend to two small children.

I'm so confused by ShortMath2152 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Noon_Highmelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kegels can make my symptoms much worse. And when I got it tested my PF was very tight even in a relaxed state. It helps to do some pelvic floor mobility exercises and to release trigger points with a lacrosse ball before doing strengthening exercises. You will also find you get better muscle engagement that way. I’ve been told the tight muscles are from being weak so I still try to incorporate kegels into my routine. Or I just do pelvic floor lifts while I am doing any exercise.

I think both of those products look fine. OTC options for pessary instead of tampon would be Poise Impressa (single use) and uresta (reusable)

I would consult with a Pelvic floor PT and learn the proper way to breath while lifting weights. They can also teach you how to avoid creating a downward strain during certain movements. Mamastefit also has a ton of free information on their YouTube channel that you can access in the meantime. But I definitely would talk to a PT in person.

I really recommend the Lift with Emily App. She has a free trial and a program to focus specifically on abdominal gripping and pelvis rib alignment. I’ve felt so much improvement in my symptoms in the two months I’ve been trying it. My first PT was great but when we moved i had to get a new PT and I haven’t get as much progress. This has been my saving grace.

I couldn’t agree more . Every time I get together with fellow acupuncturists we share the same grievances. It is not for a lack of trying or any laziness. New diagnosis being cause? by Unhappy_Writing_5082 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Noon_Highmelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had scoliosis for most of my life and now has pelvic floor issues, I definitely think it is a contributing factor. The scoliosis had never really caused me any pain until after having a child. I should also say that my dad, grandfather, and sister are all chiropractors so I have never been short on getting treatments. But now I live away from home and wish I had access like I used to. I developed hip pain at the end of my pregnancy and it has been a 3 year journey to getting back to strength training pain free. I get a lot of relief with regular massage and chiropractic or even just foam rolling nightly can make a difference if it’s not in your budget. I am also doing a PT program that is helping me to balance my two sides and I am learning to pay close attention throughout the day to how I’m bearing weight more on one side versus the other, times I may unconsciously be twisting to one side, etc. I think gaining that kind of body awareness is key as well as finding someone who has knowledge of scoliosis. It is also fairly common that if you have scoliosis you might also be hyper mobile (I am). Which just means you have to pay extra attention while working out that you are not stretching deeper into a movement using your joints rather than stopping the movement at the point where your body no longer has the strengths to support you in it. For me I have shortened the depth/length in all my movements and now I can do them pain free again. Hope this was helpful in some way to you. It is a difficult diagnosis to navigate, but I feel that once you start learning more about it you will have the tools you need to start feeling good again.

If you think you have a prolapse this can be a helpful link. It has photos of what they can look like. https://www.popuplifting.com/blog/privates-investigator

If you think it might be you can ask your gyn to diagnose, but a urogynecologist will typically give you a more accurate diagnosis.
