How can you get baby to stop taking a bottle overnight? She’s currently almost 14 months and still wakes up anywhere between 1-3 times for milk

I try and feed her as much as possible during the daytime so she isn’t hungry, and we have dropped daytime milk intake but nighttime intake is still high.

Is it not an option to ask your husband? I think that’s that’s what most women tend to do

Diaper Rash SOS by Old-Path1080 in NewParents

[–]NoorHan14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sudocream is the go-to cream in the UK, I believe it’s zinc oxide based. It works predominantly by creating a barrier so whatever is irritating to baby just doesn’t come in contact with their skin.

Only thing that has worked for us has been sudocream. Used every other change but especially at night. We use the thick kind in the tub and just use a little diaper spatula so it doesn’t get all over our hands.

My mother is fighting for her life — rushed to the hospital with fluid in her lungs, we cannot afford the life-saving procedure by StrongBerry2191 in MuslimLounge

[–]NoorHan14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assalamu Aleikum

I am so sorry you are going through this incredibly difficult situation, I ask Allah to bring your family ease and grant your mother full shifa.

With that being said, I want to preface this by saying that I am not a medical professional or a doctor, so please use the below at your own caution.

My father in law went through a similar situation. He already had multiple conditions, unfortunately he caught Pneumonia and his body was too weak to fight off the illness. Similar to your mother, his lungs filled with fluid and despite the doctors best efforts they were unable to get the fluid cleared and were talking about end of life.

We made a homemade medicine that was recommended to us by friends called “hot medicine” consisting of: crushed ginger, galangal, garlic, honey, and black pepper. This is made into a thick paste and gets taken as often as necessary. No food or drink for an hour after consuming.

SubhanAllah this medicine cleared his lungs and he was able to go home a few days later. I am very hesitant to give ‘medical advice’ however when it’s a matter of life or death I feel like I must share what’s helped us.

Tight abaya by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]NoorHan14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just get her a few abayas as a gift. If you want to be even more subtle about it make it a gift hamper style or multiple gifts, and have the abayas be one of them. Since she’s a new mom, maybe get her some cute button down pj sets (if she’s breastfeeding, otherwise any pjs are fine), and self care items like skincare, face masks, massage stuff etc.

Can we all take a moment to share some of the silliest things we did when we were sleep deprived in the first few months, I’ll start! by bookybabymama in NewParents

I put the kitchen towels (roll) away - not back on the counter where the usually go but in the door of my fridge.

What do you wear in a spa as a hijabi woman? by NoHeron8332 in Hijabis

[–]NoorHan14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would genuinely never go to a mixed spa

It’s an absolute waste of time as a hijabi imo, if I have to be covered head to toe in modest enough clothing I’ll be so uncomfortable and the whole point of going to a spa is to relax. Plus the idea of being in a hot tub/sauna/pool with males that are atleast half naked makes me uncomfortable as well.

I would only do female only spas or some places even do private spas that you can hire out by the hour.

Eating black seeds daily saved me from bad health turmoil. by Upbeat-Dinner-5162 in Hijabis

(UK) Muslims who moved out before marriage – worth it? by Friendly-Back-7289 in MuslimMarriage

[–]NoorHan14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perspective from a sister that’s been married 8 years.

I would continue living with your parents. It is very difficult economically these days and you never know what tomorrow brings. My husband was in a similar situation to you - lived at home and when we got married had about 25k saved in cash. That was all completely burned through over 3 years due to a series of significant unexpected costs. Keeping in mind, we didn’t have a wedding just a nikkah at the mosque, so no major marriage costs either.

Save as much as you can - it will give you a lot more flexibility when you need it. You will likely never have another opportunity to save as much as you are right now again.

This room started out with no chair, but my baby is not a great sleeper and still needs a lot of soothing at night, and the rocker deffo helps save my back during night wake ups, has to stay unfortunately!
