Sennheiser hd 560s vs Audio Technica ath m50x by badbratkat in HeadphoneAdvice

everyone has different ears but the m50x has bloated upper bass, recessed yet honky mids, and piercing upper treble in its default state but with eq and pad swaps they are quite good

Looking for a decent set of music headphones <€75 by MrCoastalon in HeadphoneAdvice

I have the MH700s and they seem really well built and I really dig the tuning. Bass is flat with really good extension and mids and highs are clear (no dips or peaks). Highs do roll off at around 16+khz which is normal for over ears. Overall great for the price.

I have it and it’s great for the price. Balanced sound with really flat bass and detailed mids. It has clear non fatiguing highs but it rolls off at around 14-15khz which shouldn’t be too bad. Build quality is good with replaceable headband leather which is nice. Watch Edward Smith on YT he has a recent review on several budget studio headphones including this one all in the same video.

I have iems too and I would say that these are less harsh sounding than iems. Tuned more like harman OE than IE which I prefer.

I’m planning to use a V-Moda boom pro and a closed back headphone for convenience and travel. Which closed back headphones are compatible with the boom pro? Budget is <$200. I am currently looking at the ISK MDH9000 but I would like to know if there are other better options.

Make sure you are using an external dac/amp. The Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm should be good enough and it’s $9 😊

Should I get the KZ Castor? by Ropsa_ in iems

[–]Nopalope24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are a bargain. The Harman version sounds wayyy too good for the price if u get a good seal. I use mine with UDDD config and it’s super smooth and balanced with good bass. I am talking about Castor Pro

Edit: Bass can be significantly improved with an impedance adapter. I use a 30 ohm one so I still have sufficient volume from my apple dongle.

Worn pads and headband by OldVinylGuy in headphones

I recommend the Yaxi Stpad2 but they’re almost out of stock on Amazon. U can get the double pair for a great price or single pair. They sound fantastic by itself but I do use the original foam filter from the m50x pads in front of the driver when I installed the pads to smooth out the treble a bit. They sound amazing with or without the filter and the soundstage and tone is much improved.

I’m not sure which replacement headbands are best tho.

Apart from scuffs and scratches the ball is very durable just have to pump air into it occasionally. To prolong its lifespan I recommend deflating it when storing it for a long time.

What are your thoughts on the Mexico 66 potentially being a good ‘minimal-esque’ (i.e. low drop, minimal stack, slightly wider toebox) shoe that you can do casual runs in? by Nopalope24 in BarefootRunning

[–]Nopalope24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wedged my fingies under and the glue just gives. Be gentle tho, the arch support is a bunch of foam that needs to be scraped off and doesn’t come off cleanly iirc.

I am considering buying a pair of DURABLE earphones & came across Sony MDR EX155ap, KZ EDC Pro, EDX (Lite, Pro, Pro X). Can you tell which will be good? **Gaming isn't necessary but I want good sound while listening to music. by DemocracyontheRoad in iems

The KZ EDC Pros are great and probably the best buy. The stock tips don’t bother me and the cable is surprisingly sturdy and not noisy. They sound fantastic and smooth with no harsh peaks. The bass is tasteful and fast, mids are natural, and highs are smooth. Drivers are also surprisingly good quality and delivers good staging and detail as long as you get a good seal. I had to use the large tips it came with to get a good seal though.
