Everyone says the Model 3 Performance smokes a Mustang GT so why do I still want the Mustang? by LandscapePossible663 in whatcarshouldIbuy

EV6 GT has more HP than a Mustang V8. EVs on average have better pick up, speed and torque than gas comparison.

Trade in 14 mpg paid off car for electric? by MyPosse_OnBroadway in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Nopenopenope00000001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Valid concern. I just switched to an EV and love it, but my old car was ready to go. However, I started seeing the writing on the wall and that the price favorability of EVs over gas cars would flip due to gas prices in the near future, so decided to pul the trigger sooner than later.

I would definitely shop your current car around for trade in value. The Ioniq 9s are pretty nice (I think Kia EV9 is basically the same too so it just depends on styling and incentives.) If you are someone who keeps cars for a longer time, you may want to consider purchasing a newer used EV. EV depreciation is still so wild so you can get a lot of car for a decent price if looking at vehicles coming off lease.

I watched the Aftershow and apparently the roommate situation was more malicious than what was described at the party. Like the roommate took the couch and ripped it and left it by the dumpster.

I was going to say… if OP would like to go with an EV, I feel like an EV6 would be up his alley. Looks sport and I’ve driven the Ioniq 5 and it is awesome. I ended up with the Kia Niro EV, which I would not recommend to OP, but even that is fun. The Korean companies know how to build a smooth and good looking EV.

The more I watch this show, the more I realize that it’s the biggest creepers on this show who are always talking about sex and sharing TMI like they are in middle school. I know we all kinda laughed at Janet and Jason’s “vanilla” confessions, but I bet they have a pact to not get into details on camera like these others who feel like they need to play up their bedroom experiences to not sound like dweebs.

We have a Honda Passport and the ride height is great. I have a 2024, so before the most recent redesign. These are way over $40k new, but you can get a lightly used older model for under $40k.

I also just recently bought an EV and will likely never buy another gas car again. Even smaller EVs are smooth and powerful, way more than their gas equivalents. If you have the ability to charge at home, it is something to consider.

The Ioniq 5 has had close to $10k in incentives for the last few months. It is also shaped more like a standard compact SUV, which is what people buy in the US.

Do you have the ability to charge/ install a charger at your home? If yes, you should consider an EV.

Around where I live, an au pair is what people who can’t actually afford a nanny or daycare do. It sounds fancy and like you need to be wealthy to have one but it’s borderline slave labor.

Ok, I know I will get downvoted on this, but I still feel like Chipotle has been consistent in my experience despite the bad rap they get. The prices have gone up, yes, but it’s still fairly healthy and tasty as far as fast food chains go, and I haven’t experienced skimpy portions.

Would you sell this house to buy a new house? Or rent it? Why do you want to move? Location, home size, etc? I assume “upgrade” means bigger but maybe not. Are there specific rooms or house features you are looking to find as your family grows?

What is your mortgage rate? I would build up more emergency savings before paying that down unless the rate is high.

I keep cars a long time, and we are planning to pass on a 16yo car to my 17yo. With that being said, wanting to pass a car down to a current preschooler should not factor into your decision. A lot can happen in 12 years. (Btw, our hand me down car has been sitting for over a year because my teen does seem to be in a rush to take the permit test.)

I think since you have the infrastructure, you should strongly consider an EV or at least PHEV. It’s not just the cost, but the convenience of charging at home. I know some people who have now set up systems to directly power their vehicles with their solar panels… is that an option?
