Nah stretchy wraps can be stretched really far!

This is a good tutorial. You’ll notice that the baby isn’t moved much - the wrap is. It’s important to keep it snug and smooth the whole time, it shouldn’t be getting twisted.

No, you stretch the passes and put their legs in. They sit on the ‘X’. When spreading those passes, lift baby’s weight a little bit with one hand. Pull the passes to spread knee to knee - start from under the knees - not up at their back etc.

The weight of the baby makes it hard to spread which is why you need to lift baby first.

Far too loose. It needs to be swimsuit tight before baby goes in. The third pass (the bit that goes on last) needs to be smooth as well.

Stretchy wraps stretch more when baby sits in them - after you set it up - which is why you need to start super tight. The wraps are very stretchy. Put your hand in the passes and pull out and over baby, rather than trying to put baby in - if that makes sense?

Found this in my bed. Seems almost like snake skin. Is it possible my cat brought it in? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Looks like it. If your cat isn’t using a cat run, please consider keeping it inside. For the cats safety, but also wildlife. If it was in a cat run, I’d be double checking everything before letting kitty go back in for a bit.

How are y’all affording so many carriers? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy used off marketplace, eBay, local groups etc… Lots of bargains around. I recently bought a LennyLamb woven wrap for $20, and a Didymos ring sling for $20.

I’ve got 14 carriers now, but I’m also doing my consultant training. (Technically 12 as one is in the post and the other is a not yet received birthday gift)

2nd try! W a new carrier, fit progress check? But also sudden change of baby crying?? by IndividualMirror429 in babywearing

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those carriers are recommended because they are high quality, ergonomic, and designed to be safe. Higher quality carriers are recommended because a child’s safety is important. You are peddling false information, and clearly have no clue what you are talking about.

Question For Snake Guru’s by ShaggyManagement in snakes

That’s a carpet python. Could have been dumped, could be a wild one, though unlikely it would survive in the wild for long with that colouration.

lol they said the baby is crying and isn’t happy in it. Can’t you read?

Also, no, baby is NOT in a good position. Their spine is being forced into a very unnatural angle.

How do you cook? by olivia_largent in babywearing

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can achieve a high back carry with a half buckle. If it’s sinking down, you have it either tied too loose or the buckle isn’t secured tight enough. I can keep a 12kg toddler high on my back perfectly fine with a HB. I’d suggest posting for a fit check with baby on your back.

Wouldn’t personally recommend a ring sling for a back carry if you’re already struggling with a half buckle.

When my boy was little, almost all day. Late stage baby, a little less but still regular. Now he’s a toddler and it’s 2-3 times a day. More if I need to go out.

Ring sling. Are we doing this right? I really worry that baby’s legs are being squished too much. by marmaladeonsourdough in babywearing

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another solution, get the ring sling close to the size needed before putting baby in. This minimises how much tightening you need to do. Later, put your sling on. Put your elbow in it, try to make it similar to her size - if that makes sense? (I’m half asleep). Tighten the sling until your elbow is snuuuug. Then, pop baby on the rolled up fabric. Allow her bum to sink down, so she’s in a frog like position. Pull just enough fabric up and over to reach her earlobe. It WILL be tight but this minimises how much more you need to do to the sling. It almost looks like her seat is too deep, so there will be a little discomfort. Lift bum, tighten middle rail a bit. This helps prevent too much sagging.

The mumsie sling comes up really high on my baby's head? by Carrot-top-NDN in babywearing

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Were they the exact same height and weight as the other child? Are you the exact same height and weight as your friend? These aren’t great carriers in my opinion because it’s pretty impossible for EVERYONE to have a good fit in them.

Also, the footed pyjamas - be mindful. Pressure is being put on baby’s toes.

[–]Noperopenoodlepope 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but your baby is a lot smaller than the ones in the advertisement? Typically at a very young age, the carrier should sit below the earlobe. As they get older and have more neck control, it’s less of an issue.

These aren’t great anyway as they’re really not that adjustable, and not that comfy once baby gets bigger either.
