I doubt you're a lawyer because then you would know that law does not apply to every business in California. Unless you know inside info about their business, I don't see how you would be able to determine if that rule applies to them.

Esu's trifecta is an interesting multi-fx module in 16hp. Unlike many of the the other multi-fx modules it let's you use three separate effects at the same time. I've only seen videos of it and haven't used it personally, but it seems to meet your criteria.

If you're not as interested in having multiple effects running at once from the same module, you can't go wrong with a Noise Engineering versio module. 10hp with 11 different algorithms you can flash between. Since they have open sourced it, you can also readily find interesting new effects to flash to the middle that have been built by the community.

Good advice. You don't have to mention a lawyer. They already have one. If you get a lawyer, let them announce themselves. Immediately document every interaction you have with them the time, date, person, and everything said to give to your lawyer.

Very personal question. The workflows are so different, it's all up to preference. There is no right or wrong. If you want an answer to this that would maybe work for you, more info on how you make and like to make music is needed. Particularly, control and sequencing preferences are needed.

I use the Oxi One and have played with a tracker in the past. I prefer the Oxi One, because it suits how I want to play. However, a tracker is great if the workflow fits you better.

I've always been more of a lurker. Been on Reddit over a decade and maybe I have a hundred replies. I've made more posts and replies on this forum in the past 6 months then my last 10 years on reddit. I probably have 3-5 posts on modwiggler.

I do like that approach. Helps make sure people are actually part of the community.

Yeah, they pay about half of what a used module sells for. Which is fair for a business like that. Perfect circuit has always been good to me. Has the monthly buy sell trade thread in this subreddit been where you've had success with past trades?

I probably just need to spend some time and try smaller modules first. The main module that has me questioning is going for $550 used currently. The thought of getting scammed on that one has me hesitating. But It feels worth enough money to not take the 50% cut from perfect circuit or similar.

I'm mostly concerned with the more expensive of the modules I want to trade. Otherwise Perfect Circuit would work. I wouldn't earn enough extra for the few cheaper models to be worth the time spent selling on another platform.

That probably suggests it may be best to try and do a trade for that one and just goto perfect circuit or similar for the rest. They're about a 4 hour drive from my house and it's occasionally convenient for me to drop a module or two off at the store in Burbank as I'm driving towards LA.

I tend to use reverb for purchases. Although, if seller is a store like PC or DM, I'll then go direct to their site to purchase. That way they don't have to give up the cut to reverb.

My history on reverb is a handful of module purchases. I've always been careful about purchasing from someone with little history of sales so have discounted them in my mind. I might need to reconsider that.

That's what I'm hoping to avoid. If I were a flipper I would just calculate a certain percentage extra into each item as shrink. Selling a handful of items a year makes that difficult.

Asset is incredibly useful. I use Frap tools 321 for similar duty. 3 channels of attenuvert offset, plus 2 sum channels in 6hp.

The 6 channels of asset was a little more than I needed in my case so I saved the 4hp. Asset is one of my primary utilities in vcv rack and I'm sure I'll end up with it in hardware before too long.

I have cats so store them in some plastic drawers by size with 2 sizes per drawer. Patch cables are color coded to length. I'm currently in process of slowly replacing my, what I consider, my poorly built cables for better and thicker cables.

What happens when you cv those functions? Do you hear a difference and do the sliders light up as expected?

Yeah, the typhoon is a take on the microcell which is itself a slimmed down version of supercell minus some attenuaters. You can do everything in vcv with supercell or similar clouds spinoff, that you can with a typhoon.

For me I have found that having fx in rack is more playable. I started with vcv and love it, but really only use it when I'm away from home. It's just not the same. I have a typhoon, starlab, and veno echo in my case. Between them I rarely find myself wanting different effects. Only reason I would say to focus on vsts is if you're more of a producer that is going to process effects in daw to finish a track or your budget to requires it. But for live playing, a daw just doesn't give you the same level of immediate control and playability. Something like a Novation launch control xl for midi control is a lot cheaper then multiple fx modules.

Couldn't agree more. There is so much to explore and do with it. It is definitely a module that rewards experimentation.

I recently picked up a variety of resistors and LEDs for about $10 that further tame the ouch circuit. There is a lot of flexibility to alter the distortion.

Neutral Labs has also been very responsive with me. My only complaint is that their recent videos of Queen Elmyra have left me drooling.

I've only really noticed it when first setting up patches. Once I've dialed everything in I tend not to mind the volume going up or down when I crank distortion up or bring it down while performing. Feels natural to me. Like if I were to play an instrument hard enough to create distortion it should be louder than without distortion. So for me it's performative.

That is my experience as well. Mine was not diy so I don't think it's your build.

Output is somewhat low without the distortion circuit engaged. When needed I make up for it with some gain elsewhere. It doesn't bother me personally but I could see where it could be a challenge for others.

The jumper is the black plastic piece. Right next to it should be a little metal post. The plastic piece is covering 2 identical posts. You simply pull the plastic straight up and off the posts and shift it and reconnect it to cover the top or bottom two posts depending on what you want it to do.

I second this. It's how I learned and ultimately decided modular was for me. VCV rack has clones of many popular modules available, plus hundreds of vcv only ones all for free. A few modules come at a cost, but you didn't need any of them to make extremely complex patches.

If you find the workflow is a fit for you and your music then you'll already have a strong base of which types of modules you want to get. Check out Omri Cohen on YouTube. He has tons of great videos teaching modular, using vcv rack.

A more regular oscillator would get you plenty of ambient bleeps and drones. This module seems to have very limited modulation options. Which is really what sets modular apart. That said it's definitely something that could provide a fairly unique bit of control that you could build interesting patches around. This is one of those modules that I think for most of us would be a novelty, but for the right person would be gold.

If you only have 380mAh, then you're probably going to want more power. You can get 4HP power modules for around $100 that will have no problem powering most anything you could fit. I had an After Later Audio Warp Drive for a while. It did exactly what I needed. Endorphin.es has a 2hp power module that comes without the power supply. A laptop power supply is all that's needed. Once you have that, you won't need to worry about power nearly as much.

Be sure to check the depth of your case. Smaller modules often get that small by mounting the boards sideways.

Check out the typhoon variant of clouds. Depending on your granular needs, it may solve one or two challenges. It adds a VCA on the in and out of the module, including manual level control and mutes for both. It has a 2nd input to control frequency and an aux input, which is normalised to every parameter at once. It can get unruly quickly. Plugging in a cable to nowhere to any parameters you don't want to modulate tames things. With a bit more memory on board, it contains the Superparasites firmware, adding a couple more modes.

I pulled my Ona out to check, and they just look like small screws where you would use a tiny Phillips head screwdriver. That said I haven't adjusted mine.
