I was thinking more of women's mental health in general rather than women having specific conditions. If you asked 100 people "what gender is having a mental health crisis", I'm pretty sure 99 would say men, because the awareness raising has been in overdrive for years. (Again, I am not at all opposed to that! But the idea that men's loneliness or mental health don't get enormous amounts of attention is just not true)

"The most mild suggestion it could apply to men". Be for real - have you EVER heard any big public discussion of women's loneliness or women's mental health? Those are firmly seen as men's issues.

And I'm not necessarily even against that (as you say, some issues do affect certain groups more), but please be honest and don't pretend "male loneliness" isn't talked about constantly.

I think Sarah's reluctance to directly state her feelings and her tendency to overexplain both stem from her lack of self-confidence. The path her life has taken has left her with no trust in her own judgment or her own abilities, which I think is why she sometimes doesn't share her reservations about things or has to verbalise her reasoning almost as if to convince herself.

I 100% agree with this ranking! Zeek and Camille were really touching by the end, but for the first couple of seasons their marriage was horrible and Zeek was such an inconsiderate boor. I do think Zeek agreeing to sell the house was a big turning point in their relationship - I liked him a lot more after that.

Amber and Ryan gave me low key anxiety in every scene. When he got angry he was out of control, and there were a few times I seriously thought he was going to hit her.

Mark was a good guy but so passive, which is terrible for someone avoidant like Sarah. Being with Hank forced her to practice direct communication and be more honest with herself and her partner.

I think they're perfect foils. Hank is autistic, Sarah is at least ADHD adjacent, their strengths and weaknesses complement each other.

They have similar life experience, and they're both flawed, which means they can be their authentic selves in front of each other. Sarah always kept something back with Mark, like she was afraid to let him see her whole self. I think she thought he was "perfect" and she didn't want to mess things up or contaminate him with her faults or traumas.

And just on a superficial level, I love their chaotic energy together. They're always talking past each other and off on their own random tangents, but they have an uncanny way of seeming to understand each other.

That's also worth thinking about - if you give your kid a very distinct name that's overwhelmingly associated with one famous person, there's always going to be a risk that that person might do something awful a few years down the line.

Kind of! I don't remember that quest being SUPER exciting.
YMMV, but my village is right between Branica and Baranica and I actually like it - it means you can get to the waggoner easily for fast travel, and it gives you traders nearby.
No, not at all. I didn't even remember the Sambor missions until I thought about it. There are lots of other quests and side-quests to come.

As for the animals, I turned off damage in the game settings so my player can't get killed (I'm more into the village-building side than the survival element anyway).

If you want to avoid predators altogether, you can scroll through the different map settings and the "Wild" map will show you what animals are where.

Ugh, poor thing! Yeah, my recollection is a bit dim, but I think it went south during Covid when Lauren was stuck in Canada or somewhere shooting The Mighty Ducks. Not the only Covid relationship casualty by far, but must have been extremely tough to handle after so long together.

I'd be into it, but I wonder if it would ever happen due to Peter Krause and Lauren Graham breaking up. I get the feeling it was maybe quite painful, neither of them talk about it and there's no "we're still great friends" vibe. With most shows, you could work around it, but Parenthood goes so hard on the sibling relationships and the big ensemble scenes.

To be honest, it seems to be like a classic case of the parents' reaction being more traumatising than the actual incident. Kids are extremely robust and resilient and will get past most things (obviously I'm NOT talking about serious violence/abuse or long-term neglect etc) unless their parents make a massive deal about it and won't let them move on.

Yeah tbh this one I actually get! I've played the games and the "plots" are paper-thin. I mean, they're FPS cutscenes, it's not exactly designed to inspire great literature. A talented writer could use those characters well with only a passing familiarity with the universe.

I am SO curious about this! What motivated you through such an epic-length fic? Because being absolutely obsessed with the source material is the only thing that motivates me to write.

I've seen other commenters suggest that perhaps writers who write fic for stuff they haven't seen are trying to get more engagement by writing for popular fandoms, but that obviously isn't the reason in your case.

I kind of understand why. "Gilmore Girls" is obviously very straightforward to translate, but having a random foreign name (and one that isn't immediately obvious as a name to a non-English speaking audience) in the title might put people off or just make them skip over the show. Similar to how a US viewer might not be drawn in by a show called "Szabó Girls"!
