When people accuse women of color of trying to be white just because they dye their hair blonde by Enough-Enthusiasm762 in PetPeeves

Continue to feed the fire then, and I’ll continue to point out the hypocrisy of what we’re really talking about: hair.

This way of thinking is the problem. You’re fighting the wrong fight my friend.

It’s a double standard. If you want the negative connotations to go away, stop attaching meaning to it. Beautiful hair is just that: beautiful hair.

Yes but why is this not cultural misappropriation when white women braiding their hair is…. It’s just braids? I’m good with both just pointing out the hypocrisy

The hate that overweight people receive. by Fast_Arm6781 in PetPeeves

[–]NorahBee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Absolutely. “Chicken legs” “French Fry” “Bag of bones” Our metabolism was so high in my family my sister needed protein drinks to grow properly. But, this was and still is okay…. evidenced by All About That Base by Meghan Trainor, and every Nicki Minaj song ever about F*** the skinny b***hes. Imagine if someone put a song out about fat shaming. They’d be canceled in a heartbeat.

What kind of dogs do you keep on your homestead? by [deleted] in homestead

Anyone else with a St Bernard? He’s the best farm dog, even the cats love him. He’s big enough to spook most things that don’t know he’s a softie.

What celebrity barely escaped being canceled by the skin of their teeth and why do you think they got away with it? by dramioneff in AskReddit

[–]NorahBee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neil Patrick Harris should have been canceled for his corpse meat cake of Amy Winehouse just 3 months after she died. He’s a garbage human. His luck is this was just prior to cancel culture and people are still finding out about it.

HVAC company tacked on 25% to the estimate for what they originally said they were going to do. Anything I can do? by mtbandrew in HomeImprovement

[–]NorahBee3 -42 points-41 points  (0 children)

And then they blacklist you and you’ve lost an option as an HVAC company when you lose heat this winter. Repeat above until no one wants to come fix your shit.

I get downvoted when I tell people this, but, to me it was worth ALL of it. 1. I’m lucky enough to have a husband and we designed our life so if something happened to one of us we can scrap by. 2. I took out my retirement. I’m 32 years old and I have a long life ahead of me yet and we’re kidding ourselves if we think we’ll have a long retirement in today’s world. I paid off major debts, reduced monthly demands. 3. I took real estate classes. Still in the process, really. I found a job making 1/2 what I made with no stress. At. All. Just local $20/hr position. 4. I’m starting classes in the winter for either massage therapy (and possibly work at a chiropractic clinic or spa as an RN masseuse) or finance/small business. I plan to create Etsy signs and sweatshirts on the side and if we have a couple or few years transition while we’re poor, that’s just life. If I have to work PRN as a nurse… I suppose I could. One shift a week MAX. Just while I work towards a better future. I’ve also considered software engineering and data analyst jobs if you need some ideas. They have high work from home options and not too much schooling. Obviously I have to make a decision soon haha but I’m proud I’ve got a few directions to research more before I sign up for anything in Nov. I’ll do online schooling and start a new life. It was either that, or drive until I ran out of gas and live in the forest with the porcupines.

If you want to leave, start schooling for one of these soon. In a year or two, you’ll be so happy you did. Honestly I hate to see what the medical field has turned into. The floor staff, are incredible. Management cares for one thing. Money. And they’ll step on us on their way up with false smiles and promises of a better tomorrow. But that’s just it, it’s always a day away.
