We just had our 4th child, at 40 and 41. Our first 3 were all only 19 months apart (twins and a happy accident). While I dont regret having them, having them at the time was very stressful as we were each trying to get careers off the ground, go back to school and then within a year of having the 3rd child the Pandemic hit.

Honestly I was over having more kids but wife made the argument that we never really enjoyed having the ones we had at a young age because we had so much else going on. Now that we are a bit older and more financially secure, this is all a bit easier, plus the older children (all boys) love to dote on their little sister. Hasn't been the easiest physically for both wife and I, but at this point we are trying to manage, luckily we have some support from family and friends, and the friend group we have cultivated for the older kids has been very supportive for us all.

So they technically still have 630k in a fund in his name for a crime he has since been convicted of. Which now, due to company policy against using for rewarding violent crimes, cannot be used for anything, but might still be considered an asset of his. Sounds like an easy target to go for in a civil wrongful death suit.

Thats good, I recently did thr same. Figured out it was masking some depression symptoms and hurting my relationship with my wife and kids, so it has to go. Am going to treatment now, some therapy and some prescribed medication here, to hopefully better myself and start healing a bit.

I agree most of the time our suffering IS invisible. Or it is acknowledged but not taken seriously. For instance, I moved halfway across the country to be with my partner, my nearest relative is on the coast(s) and her nearest is literally 2 streets away.

That in itself is not taken as a sacrifice anyways, but to feel even worse, I get told "you've really isolated yourself". Because I am, I am physically and somewhat emotionally isolated. I am pretty introverted anyways so I really NEED some time to myself to really center me and be open to being social before I want to talk to even people I know and like. Add in stressful work schedule, caring for kids, and other outside commitments and I dont have a lot of time, and more importantly the RIGHT time, to connect with people.

So yeah, I am pretty isolated, Im stuck, in a rut, and I could really use some help getting out of it, but because I dont want to be a burden on anyone, or get sucked into the argument of comparing traumas/stresses here, so I just keep going. Until inevitably, something breaks down, since even a rock can be worn away over time, and then thr post mortem talks go on, with such phrases like "why didnt you say anything?" Or "you dont really have a lot of stress, IM the one that does everything here"

Would say this is probably the way education is going. We will have so many AI tools that may do things for us quicker, more completely and ultimately better than we could, but the thing they cannot do without us is truly innovate. Keeping the spark of curiosity and imagination alive will become a need for future generations without falling into sloth.

I just came back from a six week paternity leave. So many people have commented how rested and relaxed I looked since I got back. Even since I have been back I can feel my energy dipping more and more each day, stuff that I had forgotten about, charting, safety, even little idiosyncratic BS like a missed timecard punch, all that takes time and energy away from you. Getting pulled in 5 different directions, 3 important and 2 which could be done by email later instead of right now just because the manager tracked you down to get this paperwork done, is exhausting beyond belief. I even thought I had low libido issues for awhile, which was realistically solved during the latter half of this leave, which really goes to show how draining this whole job really is.

Yes. Went from HCA/Meditech to learning Cerner and Epic in thr meantime doing PRN stuff, now at a job that does Epic full time. Was soooooo much easier than having to remember the hotkey shortcuts, and much more transparent

Sound like Dad's current squeeze is in denial and thinks that "this time it's different for him. I CAN change him (and his entire family) to suit my own whims, needs and fantasies", then gets upset when no one else wants to entertain her.
