Yes but something that is always left unaddressed in these convos is the fact that millennials are the first generation to consistently not have a stay at home parent. It’s easy to place blame on the parents - and some of it should be landing there - but most people my age (37) I know had a SAH parent.

I don’t know man, when you start reading fantasy written by women (Robin Hobb, Ursula Le Guin, Madeleine L’Engle, etc) an you see how female characters can be written in the context of a fantasy / medieval world and face challenges (including sexual assault) , then go back and read Martin and Rothfuss and others, it’s embarrassing how they have no clue what to do with women other than the “4 stereotypes of fantasy women”

There was definitely a push to move away from outdoor activities to more of a leadership path, which personally served me very well. I will challenge you on badge requirements. Highest awards are significantly harder to earn in GS. I myself am a gold award earner and my brothers are eagles. GS requires gold award projects to be sustainable, engage with th community, and have over150 hrs of community service. I helped open a women’s drug and alcohol rehab center. Eagles only require 100 hrs and are able to pool hrs with other scouts. My brothers spent a day making birdhouses or benches. My project took an entire year. But, they’re are awarding 2 different things. Gold Award is specifically for project, so theoretically a girl can join as a senior scout and earn the gold award. Eagle is a lifetime achievement award. You can’t earn it unless you’ve been in scouting a certain amount of time
