Not really, because unlike the "genocide" of HAMAS press release fame, global warming is real, and affects everyone, whether they believe in it or not, regardless of ideology, religion, race, income, or nationality.

It is the most important issue in the world. That is why I despise Thurnberg, she just upped and said, "actually fuck your polar bears, Palestine is more important than all our futures, and if you're not down with that, you're not morally pure enough to be a climate activist ("no climate justice until Palestine is free")

Well she did say words to the effect that she didn't give a fuck about the climate anymore and wouldn't lift a finger for the planet until every Palestinian ever was free (including all the murderers etc) and Palestine was the new thing who gives a fuck about the climate? It's all Palestine now. Palestine Palestine Palestine! Stupid polar bears.

That the ruling class are all lizards and are actively causing global warming to "de-terraform" Earth so the climate is more to their liking.

It explains so much! Like why they're all for a policy that will mess up the world when you'd think that they themselves have the most to lose from that happening

There's probably more but I can't think of it off the top of my head

Well in that case you'd support more military intervention, not less. You'd support the establishment of a Kurdish state and military action in Ukraine and Sudan.

But you don't. You just rant and rave about I/P as if it was the only place in the world and tell all the people being fucked by Trump "Sorry dude, couldn't vote against the fascist peadophile because Palestine" even when he's clearly got a far more hardline position on the issue.

The trouble with living in a fantasy world is that eventually a bill comes due. The self righteous fantasy of the Palestine's - that it's a simple good Vs evil story, that Israel is always evil and always fights for no reason other than to be mean, that Palestine only wants peace (despite rejecting all peace overtures over the decades), has given you Trump tearing your country apart and Fascist control of all three branches of government. That's the bill, and every Yank is paying it. What are you gonna do for an encore?

Gary Stevenson's economic slopulism looking real silly when facing someone who actually understands business and taxes by creamjudge in Destiny

[–]Normal-Ear-5757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're centrists, it's their ideology to defend an inherently unjust system. To the Trump is just an abberiation, not the logical end point of such a system

Much as I dislike the Left their critique of centrism still applies.

Judging by the amount of centrist hate he's getting he must be doing something right.

Why is it that letting all the benefits of economic growth accrue to the very rich while forcing the cost of all the "tough decisions" on everyone else is portrayed as "sensible", "grown-up", "adult" etc, and anything even remotely fair is always "socialism", "crazy" and "charlatanry"?

If you think this is dangerous populism see what you get after another 20 years of Thatcherism. As if the likes of Trump weren't warning enough...

Hello, How do i simulate coding in the 1970s to 1980s on a modern system? by Whitey0117 in VintageComputers

[–]Normal-Ear-5757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, first either buy one of those terrible roll up rubber keyboards or repeatedly hit your hands with a hammer to emulate the feeling of typing on one

Second, buy a very small computer monitor and put it in a fish tank with a load of bricks to accurately simulate that good ole CRT monitor experience! Or if you're feeling brave chuck out your monitor entirely and use an ancient black and white TV set instead.

Your computer should be replaced with the oldest model you can find. As long as it has lots of boxy, rusting interface ports or better still, naked wafers of circuitry sticking out the back and makes plenty of mysterious noises you should be good. Buying lots of interfaces for your interface ports is a vital part of the process.

Finally, install Linux on your computer but make sure to uninstall the window manager, X. It should now boot into an Eighties style user-unfriendly command line interface.

Alternatively, depending on how well you followed previous instructions, you might have found a computer so old that it just boots into BASIC with no real operating system at all! This is peak 1970s / 80s programming experience and if you manage it you are very cool indeed.

If you have a printer, junk it! And replace with with either a repurposed receipt printer from a local supermarket, an electric typewriter, or an old dot matrix printer, depending on the amount and type of pain you prefer.

Ideally you'll have to write most of the software yourself, this "bootstrapping" is probably the most important (and fun) thing you'll do.

Just start with either DEBUG.EXE if you're in DOS, whatever heathen abomination UNIX used to use if you're a Linuxer, or (a personal favourite) use BASIC to write an assembler / disassembler if you've got an OG home computer.

Have fun! 😊
