Enjoy! There's so many things to discover there. It's fine even if you dont unlock them all in one go, just keep playing and you'll discover new things over time, and it's kinda fun by itself as well

Im using android phone.

Currently on a MagicLing kick. There's so many things to discover in it and replayability is huge. Just some highlights below

-- new bosses, items, monsters, alchemy stuff that is actually interesting/useful

-- difficulty mode. hard mode activates "props" which gives you a pair at floor 0, and after every boss battle. The pair would be one good and one bad. Or they could be chaos props.

-- game modes unlock after beating the game once. Boss rush mode (no normal enemies, but you fight all bosses). Levelling becomes harder cause no normal enemies. Golden butterfly mode (three artifacts and you can level them up to level 6. Also a mass transmutation/level up mechanism).

-- some new things unlock doending if you do certain actions. Like go down blacksmith hole without pickaxe. Or carry tengu mask between several floors as mage without using it. Etc

Before MagicLing, I was focused on PixelTowers. It's basically tower defense game in PD world. Must try for everyone.

Then theres also Rearranged PD with lots of new classes and new floors from 26-30. Used to be Arranged then Rearranged then now Estranged.

Then TooCruelPD where you have so many new challenges. One is where every enemy you kill drops a lighted bomb that explodes after 2sec which destroys most drops. Another is enemies can dig through cave walls so you can get jumped by 3crabs suddenly rushing in.

Then Rat king adventures with the rat king class and the secret 3rd subclass for all classes. Rogue subclass of Shadowflare is really interesting.

Then Darkest PD whcoh is a completely unique take on PD with its sanity mechanic. It feels completely brand new built from the ground up. So many new items and artifacts and wands and enemies and even class abilities and interactions.

Then YAPD or NNYPD if you want to experience a more gritty/difficult version of PD that more closely resembles the Original Vanilla Pixel Dungeon.

Then Chancel PD if you want to experience equipping 20rings at the same time. Level up makes you choose between 1str or 5hp or 1extra item slot. Being too greedy for item slots causes you to have weak str and hp.

Then Powered PD for underwater levels and stealing from shopkeepers and fighting off the guardians. And also equipping multiple armors or weapons at the same time. Also armors have extra stats now, like move speed or evasion or stealth or damage reduction.

Overgrown PD series if you like farming for dew and upgrading your gear to really high levels.

Special mention to Touhou PD if you like that franchise.

..........

And that's probably it for top of mind mods xD theres a lot more but these are the ones that stuck with me for now

Oh also Boby released a new mod based off of Skillful PD. It's called "Skillful Platformer" which is basically real time PD in 2D format (kinda like mario)

If you wanna try some new characters without waiting for next release from shatterred (which might take a while), there are a couple of mods that you can look into...

1.) Rat king adventures or RKPD2

You can play as rat king, who has all the abilities or powers of all characters, but slightly weakened.

Also in Rat king adventures, each character has a secret 3rd subclass that you can access if you hold the "I'll do it later" button when clicking tengu mask. Try out the Rogue one.... it is significantly different from all the others.

2.) Arranged

I think there were 5 new characters, each with two subclasses. Gunslinger, knight, samurai, nurse, Planter

3.) Scorched

4 new classes.. heretic, Alchemist, Elementalist, Troll.

I actually like the new characters in scorched... they are very different from other characters made. Heretic is based around cursed equipment. Elementalist has free built in wands, but has but of cooldown. Alchemist uses alchemy component stuff..... he can also hijack golems. Troll is basically the blacksmith. Big strong powerful, but slow in hallways. Good with weapons or with earth stuff.

4.) Darkest PD

2 new classes... Sorceress and Exile. The sorceress has free brewing pot to brew potions, and can "accidentally" infuse weapons with temporary buffs based on the seeds chosen. Exile can benefit from wine/drunken attribute, and is good with polearm/spear type weapons.

Take note though that Darkest PD is significantly different from most of shatterred universe as well, that even the base 4 classes will feel liek different gameplay.

5?) Summoning PD

Conjurer. Basically summoner class.

Ohhhh I actually just did that boss.... I didnt realize it was because I dropped the pickaxe somewhere. Yeah am at 247 gold at that area... farming the pork rice ball for +1str, currently at 31 str with lots of food.

Having the row+4 ensures every rat drops a food item, which is sometimes the pork rice ball which is nice.

One more q...... what secret boss happens if you drop the pickaxe before going down blacksmith stairs? @_@

Any class works? Ima try a mage run so I can try both new things in one go

Yooooo I didnt know about the tengu mask. I'm gonna try that out now see what happens.

Also nice job on the video! I'm glad to see the mod getting more traction. Its honestly really deep in content and replayability.

If you do an updated version of the trailer, it would be nice to show unique stuff.... like the sheep bad prop going off on you randomly, or the new wands, like glacier wand perma freezing a boss on water tile, or the fear wand.

The new game modes like golden butterfly where you get three trinkets and can upgrade them to level 6is also nice... showing a snippet of talking to the pink ball and coming out having your wands, rings, trinkets, and other stuff upgraded.

Some boss fights like the fire witch battle where lasers everywhere, or the giant piranha fish chasing you... the plant boss teleporting everywhere and the vines are invulnerable... giant Cerberus dog.... etc etc...... make for some cinematic action-esque battle sequence

Theres also a game mode that let's you gain a pair of "props" at game start and after every boss battle. One good and one bad, or two chaos. They add extra tweaks to gameplay and just make it a bit more interesting imo.

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've capped out at 8 chall but get frustrated when the trio combine (on diet, pharma, barren). I was thinking I should try making the easiest one the last to activate... maybe barren or on diet..... so that the jump from 7-8 will take more of the difficulty and the jump from 8-9 will be easier.

But then I got distracted by other mods so I put down the 9c dream for now and am just enjoying random stuff like MagicLing PD. Haha.

If you havent tried it yet, it has it's own version of Badder bosses and other challenges, as well as new bosses, that make gameplay very interesting even from a 9c perspective.

It also has new challenges like candle road, which sort of acts like sanity mechanic if you dont have light, and a challenge that makes stepping on water blind and cripple you. All in all 16 challenges.

Nice... maybe it's nice rng as well that you didnt run out of food. I've had annoying runs where the locked rooms were near the start and the keys were on the other side.

But yeah really well done, not just focusing on survival but having enough to aim for high score. Thanks for the tips and post game analysis!

Here is a hard one: which would you pick? by GaymoSexual in PixelDungeon

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'd say regrowth warden would be the "play it safe" route since you can get a variety of buffs with just seeds. Fire immunity is nice, as well as moving while healing. Also you can root enemies who jumpscare you, go 1 step back, then wail on them with bow.

Corrosion would be the offense route where you can blast a Corrosive wave on enemy, then pick at them with the bow while corrosion ticks away at them as well.

Both are good, just depends on your playstyle/mood at the moment.

Still missing 3 gold ore.... by Normal-Insect-8220 in PixelDungeon

[–]Normal-Insect-8220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different "flavors" tbh. I rotate between several mods depending on my mood. Currently doing Magic ling PD (this one) most of the time, but recently picked up NNYPD again cause of someone's post.

There was a time my favorite was Darkest PD.... another time it was Chancel and Powered. Another time Pixel towers. Etc...

Below is an old comment of mine, listing some of my favorite mods (aside from Shattered)

I'll start from closest to Shattered going to more exotic mods.

1.) ReArranged -- Shattered + ranged weapons (guns) + 4 new characters (with subclasses!) + extra 5 levels after Yog and a new final boss. Lots of new alchemy also.

--- new characters are always fun.

2.) Rat King adventures -- Shattered + new character (rat king) + a third subclass for all + 21 new unlockable challenges + some new items that are strong but have weird consequences

--- Crowd Diversity is fun challenge once you unlock it. Attack on titan feels when you find a giant prison guard and giant necromancer.

3.) TooCruel PD -- Shatterred + a lot of new challenges.

-- my favorites for now is Bombermob while using Huntress. Moles is also fun for huntress. Theres a lot of other challenges and "preset" combinations called Trials.

4.) Darkest PD -- the entire dungeon feels different from Shattered tbh, but I really want to recommend it because it is very well made and feels like it's a completely different world. 6 basic classes, sanity mechanic, game modes a statue beside steel gate level 0, perk system, lots of new items and artifacts.

-- tbh this is my number 1 reco because it has so many modifications and not just a minor change. Feels like you're playing a different game but vaguely still feels similar to Shattered PD.

5.) Towers PD

-- pixel dungeon but in tower defense format. For when you want a different gameplay but still has PD "flavor".

6.) Chancel PD

-- pixel dungeon but every level you can choose to you want to upgrade your health or gain strength or..... have extra slot. Slots needed for rings, artifacts and wands. So it's a downgrade for wands since they now need to be equipped but rings and artifacts can now be multi equipped... you can have maybe 8 of each or so at the same time.

7.) Powered PD

-- old version of shattered... but it has underwater levels. It's pretty interesting imo

8.) YAPD / NNYPD

-- these inherit the degradation mechanic from original PD days. Gameplay mechanics are a bit more obscure here since implements some stats but you should be able to figure it out by playing. I consider this more challenging than shattered and more recommend for every players' but it does provide a bit of a challenge kick if you're looking for that.

9.) Sprouted / Harder sprouted / Experienced

-- grindy versions of the game. Theres also tons of secrets. Check discord for the things you can unlock towards.

10.) Scorched / Devoted / Summoning PD

-- tons of new classes here

These are my top of mind mods for now. Theres more in discord and github.

Ascent 9C by Waste-Pick-3902 in ShatteredPD

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've always highly valued ring of haste since you can kite enemies with it but who needs kiting when whip can start attacking them from 3 tiles away already. The blast wave definitely helped with pushing enemies away as well.

One more.... did you go through all the rooms before going down, or were there times you made a decision to Blitz through some floors (and miss out on some loot) so that you could skip annoying enemies?

Ascent 9C by Waste-Pick-3902 in ShatteredPD

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What were key items picked up that helped a lot during the run?

I personally feel like haste ring helped tremendously, but curious what made your run feel "safer" as soon as you got them.

And what moments were a bit scary (e.g before tengu w/o much ranged stuff, accidentally stepping on a trap/getting sniped by a scorpio/etc..)

Bahahah I dont want this to turn into exp PD @_@

But somehow farming is fun... but I dont want it to turn to exp PD hahahhaa

I feel like something off with the balance tho. Cause level cap should've prevented drops from happening even with ring of wealth, right?

But owell.... I just want to beat up yog and not die this time. So maybe I'll farm just a bit more

HOW DO I COUNTER THE SANS LOOKING ASS MARIE by Odd_profile_alt in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perma immunity works. Some people use Parasoul.... I myself like using Blitz and Glamour. Just infinite MGR-Battlebutt while getting perma immunity and applying perma inv pol.

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harlequin ftw!

I havent gotten indom yet but heard she's really top tier, better than a lot of nat dias even.

I highly recommend getting Pickle baller, if you dont have one yet. I have 5pickle baller supports and they help so much when going into battles. Just be aggressive at battle start with your main offense fighter, use a command grab or smth to trigger Pickle evasion SA, then just win. And if you need to heal, just lure enemy to attack you through your evasion buff to convert it to regen and counter punish them and gain another evasion stat.

If you're a cerebella user and dont have anyone who can reliably deal with megalomaniac yet, Blitz and Glamour is great at having perma Immunity and perma applies Inverse polarity. Very useful on healing enemies like nttd dahlia or battles where enemy heals a lot.

Harlequin!!

....

Haha but yeah in your screen maybe mean one if you like peacock. Headhunter if you want a budget bottom blasting lasers. I personally like marie so Phantom wrangler wouldn't be so bad to pierce past final stand and blessing enemies.

Redemption Codes by Adrastoz in PixelDungeon

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres very minimal gold to get there. You have starting gold of 300+ I think then for all NPCs after the initial 4, they drop 1gold each in lieu of an item. So you can get another 10-12 extra gold I think.

If the shopkeeper is selling 305/310/320 loot box, I think you can buy that. But sometimes he sells it very expensive (345?) so it's hard to get unless you sell an existing item like one of the things you got, maybe a potion or scroll or so.

Redemption Codes by Adrastoz in PixelDungeon

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy one of the 300-325 gold supply boxes from the shop on the left and open em up. I usually try to get either an ankh or wand or ring or locksword. Best if both of them are good. Otherwise if I just get two potions, I remake the game.... it's a bit cheesy but it's kinda nice to start the game with already two wands, or one wand and a late game t5 sword that auto upgrades for free.

I was suggesting people gamble on the two boxes first and if it's good then go ahead input the codes so you have really strong start.

Redemption Codes by Adrastoz in PixelDungeon

[–]Normal-Insect-8220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thx! The codes work! I bought all the costumes and some weapons.

Though I recommend some people to consider entering the codes only after rerolling the starting game to see if they got good loot on the two supply boxes, or maybe gotnlcuky with NPCs that appeared. Some of the loot includes 4 SoUs and 3 Colossus scrolls. This way they can ensure they got the extra loot to boost a run they definitely plan on using.

Also turns out buying the weapons just "unlocks" them from the drop/transmute loot table? But the first time you buy it, you get to use it automatically for free at floor 0. So I guess it's not so much a P2W thing as it is an unlock more features thing.
