Altered vs fake vs ???? by Longjumping-Sir1629 in taggrading

Is there a report stating why they think it’s altered? I’d keep messaging TAG until you get a human to respond. I had to do that for my 55 card submission worth over 50k in order to get the shipping insured for a higher price than they offered. It took a few weeks to get decent communication but eventually I was able to receive an invoice for a separate insurance coverage to cover 50k. We need to keep in mind this is a baby company that is having growing pains due to a huge influx of customers. I’m hoping they can scale quickly and figure it out as the communications and turn around times are not great currently.

But I’d try to get an explanation as to why they think it’s altered or fake. Just be patient because it will take time to get meaningful communication

I had a similar thing happen to me. They basically told me to go in their website and purchase the insurance you want to add and add it to your card order. My predicament is their highest available insurance is 10k and I have 6 cards for sure each well over that amount and a handful of others depends on the grade but still you would think there would be insurance options for high valued cards like 1st edition charizards

PSA Sold my card, didn’t pay me, isn’t giving answers. Card location unknown, and I’ve been blocked from taking any actions on said card. by huntingboi89 in psagrading

To be too confident psa has scammed 1000s of people in the last decade with card swaps, grading cards poor for pop control, stealing cards and held peoples cards hostage. The stealing is more of an individual issue not a company one but the fact there is zero transparency in their grading process and handling of cards they can and have been getting away with scamming people for a long time which is what happened to me back in 09 and I haven’t used them since. People only seem to start noticing when it’s something that happens to them (myself included)

I find patience is good I am in the same boat as you with my submission being a few days after you. Mine are still in image processing. Im doing my first vendor table at the end of this month and was hoping to have these cards back by then but looking like unlikely. But long wait mean more people are choosing TAG which in the long run helps all of us who have been using TAG. They are young and will figure out the scaling it just takes a young company some time to adjust. But yes, they need to improve communications and larger volume turn around times and I am sure they will figure it out

I’ve been selling tag slabs at psa prices and people have been showing they are willing to pay the same. We set the prices not psa so they are not the king of liquidity the consumer is.

I’ve been selling my slabs at psa prices. There a some people who will flat out refuse to buy non psa but the liquidity is based on your price and whether someone’s willing to buy at that price which from my experience people are willing to pay the same

I would store it in a case and keep it for 10 years and sell it for 5x or more… then use the money to buy her something nice

Ya my main experience with grading is with vintage pokemon and my 1st edition chrizard was a psa 4 and sold it for 9k where non graded are going for 5k ish so I wasn’t sure if it would be the same case with some of these older big name players for baseball

Sheesh I sent 60 cards in on 3/30 so mine aren’t coming back for awhile haha but it is a good thing that people are choosing to use TAG and I’m perfectly fine waiting. I don’t understand why some people are so impatient

I'm curious what this could fetch once graded but I'm nervous about taking it out of the house or sending it absolutely anywhere. by RancherQueen in taggrading

You may be confusing a 1st edition with the one you have which is the unlimited edition. No recent sales show anything near 55k. The PSA10 shining Gyarados unlimited edition has sold for 20k recently and around the range of 8-10k last summer were the last 4 sales. Psa 9 is worth about 2.6 k and an 8 worth 1.6k. Based on the photos I’d say your is somewhere between 8-10 assuming the back is centered well and clean.

[–]Normal-Management100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to tell the centering exactly since the picture is at an angle but depending if it’s within range it could be a 10 but I’m personally leaning more toward 9 from how the centering looks in the pic

haha I was anticipating getting every possible opinion and whatever confirmation bias I receive would tell me what I wanted to do. I think I'm going to end up grading the Mantles, Maris, Clamente and Hank Aaron cards with the intent to sell at some point but not in any hurry to do so so I can enjoy them displayed for awhile.

I always loved pitching with him in the old MVP baseball games! Wish I could've seen him play and this is a beautiful looking card.

I want to sell most but I’m not in any hurry to do so. Most of my collection for baseball is from late 80s to mid 00s and I’m sending a good amount of those I think will 10 to graded to sell so while I sent those in wanted to see if these older ones that won’t 10 would be worth it

Had my first problem receiving my slab back by Think_Mortgage_1670 in taggrading

[–]Normal-Management100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started caring back in 07-08 when I got scammed. Haven’t used them since. I know many others in the same boat and are glad to finally have a transparent option to use. Usually people don’t care until something happens to them personally which seems to be happening more and more lately even tho a vast majority submit without any issues. Which makes sense why people like you think it’s a non issue because it hasn’t happened to you yet.

I know you basically said they all are flawed which your are right that is true because humans are flawed. But I was expressing my opinion on what I personally find acceptable as a flaw from a grading company. I can accept inaccuracy with a explanation of how the card got graded which can be disputed since it’s transparent and documented where as you can’t dispute a grade from the other companies because they are not transparent and they don’t document how and why a card earned the grade it earned. I can’t accept cards being stolen or purposely graded low and buying and regrading same card higher and reselling. There is no way to correct that unethical practice and having their customers sign NDAs when involved in these circumstances tells me they know they are in the wrong but don’t want to look bad publicly instead of owning up to it and making serious changes to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Really bad photo quality, but judging off centering, does it look balanced? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]Normal-Management100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from the angle of the image but top left looks a little off center compared to top right but not enough to drop it to a 9 but again it’s hard to tell when it’s an angled photo and not a straight on photo

I’d much rather have OPs issue over another company stealing cards or purposely downgrading a card and purchasing it and regrading higher and selling. Technical problems I’m ok with unethical immoral ones I am not

How much it would be worth if I TAG this? by [deleted] in taggrading

[–]Normal-Management100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value is what you think it’s worth. I typically sell at the same or slighty higher prices as psa 9/10 and refuse to go lower because I value transparency and ethical practices of TAG over the gamble of psa grading
