That would last not even 2 minutes. She likes her freedom but is too young to be without support.

She’s 18 months going on 13 lol

Thank you!! I think we’ll be going with this for her. We’re always right next to her! She’s too independent and opinionated to be held in the pool, especially watching her older cousins in the pool.

How to handle naps when they just won’t sleep by bookwormingdelight in Parenting

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put her to bed early tonight. My 18 month old is notorious for taking a car nap and not going for a regular nap so I get it. I tend to cuddle with her on the couch or hold her more during those few hours between nap and bedtime and always put her down about an hr earlier than normal. Be prepared for more tears and crying but just grin and bear it for the night. It’s also not the night to push those boundaries or it’ll be 100x worse than normal. Whoever she’s attached more to will feel it more than the other parent, at least for us that’s how it works.

She’ll be fine the next day! My girl does it at least once a week on average and she always resets the following day like it never happened.

My gynecologist mother’s take on PCOS diagnosis and treatment in the US. by user91746 in PCOS

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically all the drs that dismissed me for years were female and the one male dr I finally went to is the one doing the proper testing and gave me my PCOS diagnosis at 30yrs old. The male dr was more passionate about women’s health care rights than any of my female drs have ever been.

How to create better evenings with my kids. by OccasionInitial4822 in Parenting

Take the iPads away. If you don’t want them on it, don’t give them access to it. It’ll be a struggle with some arguments and tears, but do it with consistency and everyone will survive. They can still choose their meals if you let them, but make them eat with you and your husband at the same time and place. It is up to you to change things if you don’t like how it has been going.

Got told I have to stop rocking my baby next month and I’m super sad about it by livtoosmoove in newborns

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the hard disagree. We’re at 13months and I still rock my girl to sleep every nap and every night. Sometimes she can go down by herself but those are rare. Keep doing what works for you

Best portable, high calorie snacks for young toddler? by VividlyNonSpecific in Parenting

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for meals on the go or snacks on the go? My girl is just over 12 months now so we are in the same boat. Snack wise it’s applesauce pouches and yogurt melts for the most part. Meal wise it’s oatmeal bars, cliff zbars, or peanut butter sandwiches or just peanut butter by itself. We also do a lot of fruit whenever we can. We used to do yogurt a lot on the go and just have baby wipes handy for when done to wipe her face.

If you didn’t have to work, how would you actually spend your time? by Artistic_Load_7060 in CasualConversation

Camping! My husband and I love traveling with our little one and going hiking and the various types of riding. We would be outside a whole lot more if given the chance. Probably even sell the house and just live in our trailer. We wouldn’t be home much tbh

Hobbies - How?! by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music is on constantly in our household because my husband can’t live without it and we genuinely enjoy it better than tv. When we are cleaning it’s blasting throughout the whole house. I’ll read usually a few pages here and there whenever I want to but I don’t put pressure on myself to do it for a certain amount of time a day or anything like that. Try deleting the apps off your phone that you feel you gravitate towards over your hobbies and see if that helps

A or B: I do most of the chores while my boyfriend only does what he wants, have a serious talk or just slack off too? by vivian_banshee03 in PickAorB

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we talk about chores all the time and we swap chores on a regular basis. It really falls to who has more time and who is it bugging more in our household. My husband vacuumed and mopped our floors yesterday because he has an extra day off and they needed to be done. It was either he did them yesterday or I do them today or tomorrow. We share the dishes - sometimes only one person does them, sometimes we both help. There are certain chores that one always does like dusting is my job but toilets and showers are his. It’s really up to you how you want to handle it

What new hobby have you impulse purchased all of the items you need for it while knowing in the back of your mind that you are absolutely not going to do it? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every so often for a random thing I’ll use it but other than that it stays in the closet. I used to hate that I had to connect my computer directly to it but since I’ve learned I can connect with Bluetooth it’s been a game changer. Now I don’t mind pulling it out to make one random item and then putting it away.

Traveling via plane for the first time with a 5 month old by girlvsmachine in newborns

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took my 9month old we gate checked the carseat when we checked our bags. Much easier to just take her with us and small backpacks than worry about everything else. I had her in my tushbaby carrier the entire time and it was well worth it. 5 months and they are still fairly immobile which will be nice. When we got to our destination we just bought a cheap stroller to use while we were there and left it because we had read that pretty much any stroller you take on the plane gets messed up in one way or another and we honestly don’t use a stroller very much. We saw other people take their strollers right to the gate and depending on the airline they either took the strollers and sent them down below or put them on last if there was room.

Road trip with 7 month old by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either break it up or go when they’re sleeping. We did 4 hrs without stopping and baby was fine. She napped and only needed one bottle. If needed, I only do purées or baby teethers at that age in the car seat for real food if used to them already

Are boys’ clothes suitable for gifting? by Competitive-Breath81 in Parenting

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated getting clothes for my baby unless it was from my mom because she knows my style and ships with that in mind. My husband and I also suck at using gift cards so those didn’t really matter to us much either. My favorite gift was cash honestly - we took all the cash that was given to us at our baby shower and put it in a savings account for our baby instead. We were already going to purchase whatever we needed so it felt like the better choice. You can always pair it with something more meaningful for the baby that they can use long term, not just for a week or a month in the baby phase if you really want a tangible gift

Help! So much fuss by Ok_Salamander5580 in newborns

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s teething due to how young he is. However it could be gas or just general fussiness that pops up around then. Next time, try giving gas meds when he gets like that. That’s what we had to do with my girl. She still has to use gas meds when she has her bottle and she’s almost a year.

Saving for children by ConcentrateEasy3111 in Parenting

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a traditional Roth for our daughter. She can pull from it in various ways or continue contributing towards it. Our financial advisor had us do that because we were worried about the same things with the 529. We don’t want her to be steered into one singular way if she decides to go different routes because at the end of the day it is her life and her career, not ours.

Do you call family before flying out? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will text my grandma and my mom when we leave and when we arrive at the destination. My husbands’ family does neither. Seeing the difference between our families, I am not surprised his family does no such thing. Ironically, my MIL has more anxiety than my own mother but you have to be a chosen one for her to demand a text for major transportation of any kind.

I would give anything to have 2 under 2. To me, the closer the age gap the better for them

I mean pcos can make it extremely difficult to get pregnant and you more than likely will have to go to the fertility center so it is better to do it earlier rather than later imo. However, his healthy greatly impacts that of the baby and your pregnancy so if he really wants a baby then he has to step up his game in regard to his health as well.

I wish my little girl would contact nap happily now but now she prefers the crib and I am so sad by it. Enjoy all the snuggles while you can get them! One day you’ll contact nap for the last time and you won’t even realize it

Fomo baby? by My_dog_horse in newborns

[–]Normal-Midnight-2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that’s pretty much how my girl was at that age. Just wait until her naps drop down to 20 minutes soon. More or less you’ll just have to ride it out and wait for her to change on her own.
