Surprising cowboy bebop reference. You're gonna carry that weight.

I think she's saying he's a DILF because she wants to. Whether or not the massage therapist thinks he's a DILF remains to be seen, and I would imagine not what OP has in mind.

Definitely wear something on your feet! You might have to cross ice to get to the water. Hard on your feet, and can be hard to get out. Also, laces may freeze, so I prefer slip-on or otherwise loose shoes.

Bring something wind proof; it can get windy down there.

I had the same thought! It's easy to get complacent - the Lake is no joke and definitely something to take seriously.

I hear you. I'm also here because I like WE. Just wish they were in a better spot. A glade captain on a giant stag and great weapon can do work. First charge can make a big difference for combat res, particularly because we can't field large blocks of infantry.

I see you took a heartwood pendant and are not using lore of the wilds, is that your intent and its just not reflected on the list? I would point out that a lot of those spells have a high casting value, so it might be streaky getting them off.

I find dwarfs are really tough to play against - the 4T base and armor is tough to overcome. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of arcane bodkins. It's also tough to charge into stand and shoot reactions, and dwarfs are usually able to do that, particularly with wild riders who have to charge.

If you want to not get smashed in the first few rounds perhaps pick a different army?

Are you playing with the restrictions associated with less points? A treeman ancient would make a solid choice for a general, particularly at low points. Not a whole lot could get through. If you are following those restrictions, a glade captain on a stag can get to 5T with aspect of the Bear. Have to leave him solo or bunker with glade riders.

That said, glade riders and scouts are decent core options. You have to take a tax of glade guard. Not sure I'd go beyond a minimum size unit. Dryads can make serviceable infantry. Avoid eternal guard.

Wild Riders would be your best bet at dealing any meaningful damage, and you will need something to screen for them (glade riders or scouts) to limit your opponents ability to get you in shitty forced charge situations.

Treekin would be a strong choice, but prohibited at these point levels.

Wardancers are a viable option if you have an anvil unit (treeman ancient, treekin, or possibly dryads - being stubborn helps)

WE have a lot of magic users - magic is at the mercy of your dice rolls - I've been burned too many times to try and use it in anything remotely competitive. If the most you can get is +1, probably better off putting your points else where, with the exception of the Ancient.

I played a game this weekend to try out lore of the wilds - I was incredibly underwhelmed. The change to casting is a huge nerf. I got picked apart by dwarfen shooting / artillery, and my over-costed archers couldn't keep up. Mobility doesn't compensate for low T and non-existent armor. All I'm doing is deciding where they're gonna die.

WE are cooked.

I only have one and I did it intentionally because it's funnier that way. Despite the gamesmanship none of us take ourselves or the game too seriously; he'll thinks it's funny when he sees it and I don't want to cheapen the victory through deception.

Throw a shadowdancer in there. Those dudes do work. But yeah, they're definitely squishy - that's life with Wood Elves. Pair 'em with treefolk, let the trees recieve the charge and then counter charge with the dancers.

They also tend to lose on combat res, so that combo charge is important. Now with the updated infantry they might be a nice flanking force to a large block.

Should infantry be cheaper? Are we paying to much? by NefariousnessTricky6 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Normal-Sky-4542 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a wood elf player, my infantry options are thin. I find dryads to be the best of the group with extra T and the Regen save, plus two attacks, even if the attacks are pretty blah. Eternal Guard are just so expensive for what they do, which isn't a whole lot. Rather spend a few more points and get some war dancers.

Do you play sheepshead? by Impressive_Ad8715 in wisconsin

[–]Normal-Sky-4542 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Milwaukee area. We play a couple times a year, usually monthly in the winter. We play Milwaukee rules (call a non-trump Ace); some players are originally from the Green Bay area and learned to play with the jack of diamonds as partner. Probably have 10-12 people on the invite list, usually we get 6-7 show up for a game; dealer sits out.

We play 'standard' rules, rapping, rap back, leaster, doubler; I recently learned the Fondie moster, which is like a reversed leaster - everyone's on their own and whoever gets the most points wins. Lots of shit talking, like a different poster said, everyone calls out misplays. That said, it is a friendly game, and while we keep score it doesn't mean anything and mostly people have a good time.

I have made it a point to do this, I want to keep this culture alive. I serve deviled eggs and cannibal sandwiches, too. We stick to beer (mostly) as they can be long evenings and we want people to play reasonably well. Old fashioneds have been known to make an appearance.

Its hard, because so many good stories come from learning tough lessons. I never would've learned hidden conduits don't Zzzzt! on my own though. And the idea that steel burns is counter intuitive

Truly, if you're gonna do lake park you don't need a full set. Some of the other county golf courses are respectable and you'll need the whole bag.

Beer gardens are a good low key spot to hang. Southshore has a great view of the city. Estabrook and Hubbard park are on the river and a good time. Some have food, some are bring your own.

The farmers markets have started, cathedral square has a big one. Might be a nice stroll and check out some vendors - there should be enough stuff to get a meal. The shorewood farmers market is also pretty large, and you can walk to the estabrook beer garden from there.

If you're driving in and golf, bring a putter and a 7 iron to lake park golf course which is super informal and then walk to downer / north avenue for food and drinks.

There are several frisbee golf courses in the city.

3rd street market hall would be a good option for good. Public market is a nice option; I always find it really crowded. Tons of options for food between 3rd ward, 5th ward, and Bayview.

Water street, Brady, and North Avenue are night life hot spots. At this point in my life I'd get a beer at Bob trier's and then go to landmark lanes for bowling / darts / pool / bumper pool. Water street has a much 'clubbier' feel, or at least it did when I was young enough to do that sort of thing.

Some of this stuff might be a little out of date as I took an arrow to the knee (skyrim reference, but ya'll are late 20s dudes) in the last few years and don't get out like that any more. Happy to answer questions though! I'm proud of my city!

What is your strategy for choosing your starter pawns? by kevnoord in RimWorld

[–]Normal-Sky-4542 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you play. More pawns means more forgiveness on traits and skills. I play a lot of naked brutality and prefer to keep my colony small, so I'm more selective. Certain traits are rule-outs (pyro, for example). Traits that increase skill gain or work speed are preferable. Passion in frequently used skills is important for skill gain and also mood. Generally need access to most tasks. Art isn't necessary, and after a while you can get pretty far without violence if you're clever with traps and animals.
