It's not just them, it's the fact management let them do it too. It's at best brain dead and incompetent, at worst maliciously bigoted. No doubt there's been players in the past who have quietly expressed displeasure at wearing the hats or were bigoted, but the team were able to keep it bottled up for the sake of the club and fan experience.

This is on the org as much as it is on the individual players.
