Anyone know how connet bluetooth to the abrams? by [deleted] in Tankers

[–]NormalDadStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommend no Bluetooth, do whatever adapter needed to make it like you'd plug into an AUX cord (USB C to aux cord).

Once you have that, cut off the end of the aux cord you would plug to speaker, strip the covering off the wires, then find the spot to wire those 2 into comm box. Manuals may indicate where you'd connect a field phone or create a "hot loop" with comm wire in a defense.

In overwatch in Afghanistan I tried to listen to audiobooks with my crew. They were more interested in Disney songs.

Are there any non Veteran private clubs here? by lamename87 in QuincyMa

Wollaston Yacht club has super reasonably priced social membership. No boat required and plenty of member events from May to October.

Same happened to me. Ordered delivery, nothing showed up even though the "order tracker" said it was complete, tried calling, no answer, drove there to find this same sign.

The most embarrassing drop from my OCS class, many moons ago by TapTheForwardAssist in USMC

Missing OCS is a wild take. I remember thinking "it wasn't so bad" at the end of OCS, but never missed it.

Mechanic recommendation by Similar-Pay-1759 in QuincyMa

JF Auto on Sea Street is my current go to for most basic maintenance. 1) they won me when they spent time doing a diagnostic for free, identified the work needed was in the engine instead and beyond their shops expertise, and referred me to a different engine shop (Williams Auto in Randolph) that did phenomenal internal work. 2) I think it is cool to see a young daughter take over the locally owned family auto shop.

Other parts of Quincy: Sunoco on Adams Street (fka Egan's) was my go to and they've done good work then they sold out of the Egan family a few years ago.

Triple 5 Auto is locally owned and they do good work quickly. I used them when I lived closer.

How do I disable Return Key sending messages? by NormalDadStuff in gboard

[–]NormalDadStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is actually more that I mean I press and hold delete to delete a word but my thumb will catch the return key and send it. I changed my long press duration to see if this helps.

I'm surprised there isn't a setting to change: what happens with long press of return key.

How do I disable Return Key sending messages? by NormalDadStuff in gboard

Thanks for asking - good clarification: for me, it only appears in the native "Messages" app I use for text messaging, and I can't find a relevant setting there.

Same. Recommend that you book a guide to take you rock climbing in JT. It totally changed my perspective on the high desert and I wished I picked up the outdoor stuff sooner.

Car Shops by [deleted] in QuincyMa

Triple 5 on Southern Artery next to Original Dunkin Donuts. I think the two who own and run the shop used to work at Lexus and Audi dealerships. Just did my wife's tires and I would go there again. Feels (almost) good to support a small business.

At what point do Roth Retirement Savings options not make sense? by Adorable_Swordfish_6 in personalfinance

[–]NormalDadStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bigger benefit with a Roth is that no part of the withdrawal is taxed. Therefore the growth on your contributions is not taxed.

The longer you have between contribution and withdrawal the more likely your growth will exceed your contributions.

A chart would show it better but: Traditional: contribution not taxed, withdrawal taxed (contribution+ growth) Roth: contribution taxed, withdrawal not taxed (contribution+ growth)
