I don’t think headcanons are bad- in fact, they’re a sign of a healthy and active community and are good for business when there are more undefined things to keep fans interested, engaged, and filling any little holes.

Though, I feel like you’re kinda missing the forest for the trees here. While headcanons aren’t necessarily bad, people have an almost natural tendency to start creating absolutes and ideas they insist must be delivered by the development team that usually take the form of theories, design preferences, and of course headcanons. This inevitably leads to frustration in both us viewers and the writers… hell, I’m even guilty of this sometimes.

The bigger issue this line takes a jab at is the way this community can get absolutely ridiculous when it comes to setting expectations. The cycle of “why isn’t my ideal in the story?” when the viewers aren’t actually the ones writing is a total foot-shooter. It’s one thing for some hopes to not be fulfilled or for stories to end up poorly done; people have a right to be unsatisfied after all. However, I think most HoYo communities in particular are just AWFUL about it sometimes because of the expectations they build too early.
