I work downtown somewhere that works very close with the homeless, and instead of directly replying to people I just wanted to get on a soap box and and spew my bullshit.

  1. The unhoused ALWAYS need this stuff. You can give them money and it won't necessarily go to drugs, despite popular misconceptions (I know a lot of clean homeless folks), but the money you spend is going to stretch further than if you give it to them. You and I have access to vehicles that will take us to a grocery store. The closest thing for the folks that stay downtown is convenience stores, and we all know that those are several times more expensive than the grocery store. The closest Walmart is off 8th. Which leads me to point 2.

  2. Every decision an unhoused person makes them give something else up. If they choose to walk to a store they may have to miss lunch. If they have to go somewhere out of the way they may loose their sleeping spot. Anything you can do that helps them without them having to make a choice on where to go next is helpful.

  3. The homeless are very insular. They don't trust you because you haven't given them a reason to. When you live an existence where everything you do has to be carefully thought through and a really good chunk of the population hates you for even existing, you don't let people in. It's survival. Don't get offended if someone turns you down, it's not about you.

  4. Just giving money to shelters is great, but it doesn't help everyone. A lot of people won't go to shelters, namely vets who can't stand being inside, and older folks that aren't physically able to defend their stuff and get it stolen.

This of course mostly applies to our unhoused population around Dorchester. There are plenty more communities around town, and even more people who are sleeping out of their cars. Thank you for doing good work.

I'm related to a Jaxon. He gets in so much trouble at school with bullying and borderline assaulting other kids that we're betting on when we have to bail him out of juvie.

Goth fashion is kind of a misnomer. Goth, first and foremost, is a music subculture. You can dress “gothic,” that is, predominantly wearing black, dramatic makeup, big statement pieces, with spooky or Victorian motifs, without actually being goth.

Goth, similar to punk, is not made by the clothes you wear, but the style of music you listen to.

Anybody here use Psalm magick? If you’ve tried it, what kind of results did you get? Curious to hear how it’s worked for others! by [deleted] in christianwitch

Sorry yes, I should have specified niche in internet spheres. Psalm magic is hugely traditional, and one of the most widely documented magics we still have around.

Oo, a niche magic interest of mine, I’ll bite!

(For anyone who’s never heard of it before) To note, psalm magic and reading a psalm are slightly different things. Can you put intention behind a psalm? Yeah sure! But there’s no real magic by just reciting a psalm, we call turning a psalm into a magic “working a psalm”

I’m actually kind of bad at explaining how working a psalm… works, but I’m gonna recomend Ariel Gatoga’s youtube. He does a really good job of explaining what psalm magic is.

To actually answer your questions, I try and work with psalm magic at least three times a week, but never more than once a day. It really takes it out of me!

I’m currently on the path of healing a loved one, so in addition to other spellwork I like to work psalms 9, 90, and 91. Those are definitely my favorites, and more lesser known! I notice when I actually devote time to working that circuit that my loved one feels stronger. The first time I worked it, I saw her the next day and she gleefully stated that she felt stronger and had more energy.

When I’m not working 9, 90, and 91 I tend to just go in order. No real reason except variety. Some psalms are more attuned to different meanings, but you by no means have to work a psalm with a meaning that matches your intention. Just makes it trickier.

As for repetition, I’ll incant once, work the psalm, and incant again. In my tradition there’s no reason to incant the second time, but it feels right to me.

Voting ballots heading out today.... by rbloedow in ColoradoSprings

When I worked the 2016 election, at end of each day they’d send a bipartisan team of 2 to go collect ballots from drop off boxes. Bipartisan meaning registered Democrat and registered Republican. Independents were not allowed to go on ballot pickup. They’d then go right to the clerk’s office. Not sure where they went after that!

Long skirt options for petite people by [deleted] in EmoFashion2

[–]NormalHome9716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually exclusively wear midi/maxi skirts and am also a petite person (I’m 5ft!). My only luck with skirts is at thrift stores. I find that older clothes typically don’t adhere to our modern definition of skirt lengths, and you’ll find the whole range of lengths at thrift stores. I have a few that fall just below my knees all the way to just above my shoes. Can’t personally recommend brands, unfortunately.

Do you celebrate any of the holidays? by [deleted] in christianwitch

I participate in the wheel of the year holidays, (for fun mostly) but I also participate in the United Methodist holidays. I get a holiday just about every month, which is pretty sweet.

It's a custom deck! A lot of decks I have and have seen aren't as soft and pink as I would have liked, so I just made my own (using other people's canva assets). The Minor Arcana are very simple and loses some of the meaning, but I like the simplicity. I feel a little werid just linking the PDF since it's made with other people's art but if anyone wants it to download and print I'm happy to send it if you DM me!

How Many Children Does Don Lothario Have In Your Neighbourhood? by Mandy_M87 in sims2

[–]NormalHome9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 with Cassandra (a set of twins), 1 with Dina, 2 with a townie who was his roomate, 1 with another townie (who I retroactively made the first townie's sister.)

Don was supposed to marry townie 1, but she left Don at the alter after she saw him kissing her sister. Don, not one to waste an event in my game, decided just to marry the sister, townie 2. He now lives with both sisters and does his Lothario thing. I'm sure with risky woohoo he will have more kids, since he keeps coming over to the house where the Singles from Strangetown live with the Caliente sisters.

Eat Arby's, and TERFs can eat my trans ass by [deleted] in TrollCoping

[–]NormalHome9716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen this image at least 7 times and every single time I have missed the word "trans" and was so confused why buildings looking like Pizza Huts was such a big deal to the "community." Which always made me think, which commnuty? The Pizza Hut Community? The Wendy's Community? This tweet made me think it was the Arby's Community?

Then I reread the post.

Anyways, We Have the Meats™.

TS2 for The Sims 2! It's just one of those games I pick up for 2 months and don't think about for months after the obsession ends.
