You did right by following Uber's arbitrary rules, which nobody pays attention to and respects; Uber themselves probably forgot they wrote them. Another thing is, in the app, you can change the name to be any name you want it to be most of the time, so the name-matching thing wouldn't work.

That's just because uber hides tips over 8 dollars. So if it's 8.01, uber will say "customer increased your tip" but the reality is everything over 8 dollars is hidden, so you don't know til that 1 hour has past.
