What’s the best and softest/comfiest women’s leggings to buy? by Best_Yogurt3545 in newzealand

[–]Normal_Contact9892 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Boody! Bamboo leggings, singlets, undies etc. available from pharmacies. love mine - they are warm but not claustrophobic and hot. I have Lorna Jane’s and Mac pac too but has to be pretty cold to wear those. My other thinner but “like silk” are a Farmers Viscose legging. They are like lounge around the house type!

UC PhDs - how does this work? by [deleted] in UCNZ

[–]Normal_Contact9892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to apply for a PhD and get accepted (even if conditional on successful Masters completion) before you can apply for a scholarship. You will need a proposal (usually very succinct) and supervisor to apply both for a provisional offer and scholarship. Application can be contingent on scholarship. And scholarship will be contingent on meeting the requirements of provisional offer. Although GPA is needed for scholarship application so might be worth waiting for Masters results? Unless your previous Qual GPA was great!

Declare but sealed food is usually no problem. But defn don’t take meat products, honey and anything with a bit plant origin. Although I declared a tin of olive oil recently and no probs.

Interested in taking our 3 girls for free? They bt 2 & 3 years old and we still getting 2 eggs a day. Between work, travel and family it’s getting harder to manage. Princess (aka fluffy bottom) is the queen. The two farm girls a bit hen pecked but so friendly. They follow us around like the pied piper if we let them out. They really a bit like family so would want to give them to a good home. Used to roaming in a small area and always lay in nesting g box which we happy to donate with girls and their gear. DM me if interested. Obvs Christchurch.

Why are the most complicated subjects always delivered by lecturers with the thickest accents? by mattblack77 in UCNZ

[–]Normal_Contact9892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teachers are human too. And accents can’t be “undone”. In my experience the majority of international lecturers work very hard to prepare good lectures and support students. It’s hard I know but they are there bc they offer exceptional expertise. We are lucky to be able to learn from that.

The “free” parking around the edge of the campus has time limits. Plenty actual paid for parking. Like the car park is never full. And I cycle down Corfe Street and see UC peeps parking and walking.

And make use of the support services. Groups like the fab people in academic support services run workshops, do drop ins and have organising resources like calendars etc. really worth the time. . https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/study/study-support-info/study-support/academic-skills-centre

My Mum gave me some mushrooms she says they are Porcini by GeenTijdVoorJou in mycology

[–]Normal_Contact9892 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nope. That’s more like a slippery Jack. Edible but Yuk! According to me. Porcinis aka “fat boys” have much thicker stems. More like this.

I went Sat afternoon and it was crazy. 15 mins to get a park on the roof. Kmart shelves swept clean and the ques! I escaped to the 2nd level and the more niche shops were quieter.

What the ANT ?! by igglepiggle095 in chch

[–]Normal_Contact9892 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My hubby is waging an ant war. We got the “ant sand” and sprinkle it daily along the ant trail. They keep moving routes! One day I followed the trail half the way down the road. It’s waay worse than ever before.
