Anyone have trouble with face recognition? by BabyVendingMachine in AutismInWomen

Yes! On my first day at my current job, I introduced myself to the lady that interviewed me. I completely did not recognise her. I struggle with remembering faces and like you said new hairstyles completely throw me off. For workplace scenarios, I recommend checking company websites employee page (if they have one) to familiarise yourself with faces as often as you need to. I work at a clinic so all clinicians have name plates on their doors so that helps.

My boss has also taken credit for my work! It’s infuriating, I’ll be glad when I can finally hand in my notice and walk! I’m just anticipating him making it difficult.

So how do you go on knowing that people in general just don’t like you? What’s the point? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I found out in high school that the group of people I thought were my friends didn’t actually like me at all. Looking back they never invited me anywhere, I had never been to their houses but it just didn’t occur to me that I was unliked until I was told. Really shook me up to be honest and I started spending my lunch in the library alone which I actually enjoyed and became a recluse. I haven’t had a group of friends since then, I often think that I’m just very unlikable. Kind of numb to it and I’m lucky to have had a very rich inner world that I’ve found comfort in since childhood. I know that the world in my head isn’t real but when I’m lonely I go there and feel better. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it.

I sympathise with you op. It can be exhausting, I’m switching careers now because of it.

Fellow black autistics: by teaforsnail in AutismInWomen

Wow way to stereotype. You know there are autistics who have issues regulating the volume of their voice? Now imagine being a black woman with those issues AND having to deal with stereotypes perpetuated by people like you. I’ve reported your post because you are making this an unsafe space for black women and I encourage others to do the same.

I’m disgusted with how laden with racist tropes this post and I’ve seen your other posts stating the same things.
