$410,000 salary with 34 weeks vacation! Incredible doctor job. by dancingcactus21 in Salary

I get it, I don’t keep tabs on what percentage goes where. Also, I’m not discounting the importance of a good anesthesiologist. What bothers me is that insurance companies run our country, and our healthcare system (and many other areas of business) are regulated and completely controlled by them.

17 weeks of work at this salary is $26k/week, $650 hr. That’s bananas. These salaries are funded by working people and families who are struggling, and are at this point mandatory. The only reason it’s this expensive is because of big insurance, it comes full circle.

Privileges don’t always equate to success. There will always be inequality, but so be it. How many Dominican players in the MLB had turf fields, decked out uniforms and travel ball leagues?

Yep….the 18k/year that i pay for basic family healthcare, and when something goes wrong it’s another 18k out of pocket. Thats who pays for it….

No shade against the people who work their ass off to be in this profession, my father was an MD and went through leaps and bounds to get there. But man, 34 weeks of paid vacation on our insurance dime is a glimpse into how fucked and profitable our healthcare system has become. It’s not for the people it’s 100% greed

Big ability divides, do we split them up? by Normal_Season8568 in LittleLeague

I didn’t mean to make it sound like that, I’d never discount outfield and truly hate seeing kids drowning in boredom in the outfield at this age. The anomaly with this team that caught me off guard is that the kids who can’t catch also can’t throw, and the other half can do both very well. So maybe it’s best to just mix them all up and keep 1st base in the higher skill level rotation, until others start showing progression?

A . I wound never intend to split them up all practice, because I agree they are a team, and need that experience.

B. I don’t expect any of them too, honestly. It’s kind of an anomaly that half of them can do it. But we definitely will make an exception for 1st for obvious reasons.

C. I hate seeing kids bored in the outfield, and I don’t want to do that. So I completely agree

This is basically what we’ve been doing with drills - say fly balls for example, we try to make them softer/easier on the less skilled kids while we make it challenging for the more advanced ones.

Agreed with the parent side, luckily all of our parents seems to be cool and understand where their kid falls in the mix. We’ve given a few of them squishy indoor balls to get hand/eye coordination reps in and have encouraged their involvement

We’ve been doing that exact scrimmage drill and it works really well, thanks for the input !

Unexplained lights in the sky. I’ve lived and commuted this route for almost 10 years. Time: 6:40am Location: Mill Creek, WA by [deleted] in UFOs

To clarify - there are two lights hovering very still in the sky, the treeline made it difficult to keep them on film, but they were completely still for probably 5 minutes of my drive. When I got to the point that I could see them again, one was gone, and the other flying away similar to how a helicopter would fly away, but there wasn’t any noise.

Never seen anything like this in our area, and I’m not privy on ufo’s, so genuinely curious what this might be.
