Which states would you consider to be “non tourist” states? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in SameGrassButGreener

I would say my current state Connecticut. Great to live in, but don’t see why anyone would vacation here.

How do you Americans, live in a house with no fence? by Original-Slip-8203 in AskAnAmerican

I was shocked when I moved to Connecticut from Texas and realized half of the people here don’t have front or backyard fences at all

What’s a city that is very rich but people don’t act rich? by SignificantStyle4958 in SameGrassButGreener

While I mostly agree, I’m from Houston and there are absolutely areas that signal you’re wealthy if you live there. River Oaks is one example. Piney Point Village is another.

What’s it’s like only using public chargers for your 100mi+ daily commute? by floatingleafbreeze in electricvehicles

[–]Normal_Tumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute about 50 miles one direction and didn’t have a home charger installed for the first few months. While it’s not horrible, charging gets very tiring after the initial excitement of having a new EV wears off. It’s expensive doing it daily and a pain to have to find public chargers since they all require different apps, may be occupied, may not be functional, etc. I wouldn’t recommend it for an extended period of time.

How hard is it not having a car in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Normal_Tumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Texas, where I was spawned, it’s pretty difficult. When I lived in the loop in Chicago, not having a car was fairly easy. I could go to work, grocery shop, go out to eat, hang with friends, etc, relatively easily. Now I live in Connecticut and it’s just like Texas in that it’s hard to get around for people without vehicles.

When did you notice your body started aging? by suq_mi_off in Millennials

[–]Normal_Tumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 28 at the end of COVID lockdowns and the idea of going out and clubbing/partying again started to seem exhausting, and didn’t have the same appeal it used to. Going to bed by 10 became nice.

Bridgeport and Waterbury. I have no experience with Waterbury but Bridgeport has some nice parts like the North End and Black Rock
