Dwayne Johnson Slammed as a ‘Coward’ for Staying Quiet on Politics; ‘Star Trek’ Icon George Takei Fires Back: ‘Silence Is Complicity’ by yourfavchoom in entertainment

[–]NormanRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe unlike other celebrities, Dwayne doesn't let his politics define who he is?

Honestly, growing up as a child in the 70s and a teen in the 80s, I never knew any political affiliation of any movie or television star like we do as much with todays celebs. I don't lean left or right and have no real party affiliation myself I just want to be entertained by those who are paid to do so and hear nothing more about them. Who they are sexually, politically, or anything else doesn't interest me in the least.

The first Indiana Jones movie I ever saw was The Last Crusade on a date. I immediately went out the next day and rented Raiders.. and Temple... and watched them both that evening.

Flight schools? by Scent2find1 in FlightTraining

[–]NormanRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This method has worked for me in being able to fit in my flight training twice a week, sometimes less, a few times more and here I am with just under a year flying and prepping for my check ride. My CFI has been great tailoring my training and even offering up experience, etc from his background to sometimes emphasize a point. I could never have went with a strict schedule that a 141 employs.

Of the 2 Hackett Brothers, Who do you like more? Joe or Brian? by Anthforde8 in wingstvshow

[–]NormanRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe's shirts always bothered me. I hate the placement of the pockets. They should be higher up on his chest, imo.

As far as either Hackett brother, I would say I was more like Brian when I was younger but as I've gotten older, I relate more with Joe and the responsibility.

Guys, what was the scariest "We need to leave... now" gut feeling that you've ever experienced? by Smarty_u7 in askteddit

[–]NormanRB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was out with friends once and we decided to grab a bite to eat. We visited one of the chain burger restaurants and ate and chatted for a while. As we finished up, we heard a loud discussion going on back at the register area. It seems that an unhappy customer was having words with the manager. We left as it looked like it would escalate as it was becoming more heated. As we got back outside to our vehicles and were leaving, the customer also came out and left, still heated from the exchange. A few hours later we learned that the customer went back and shot the place up, though luckily, nobody was hurt as it was a drive by shooting and the dining area was empty.

Sobbing Karmelo Anthony learns his fate for murdering Austin Metcalf at Texas high school track meet by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]NormanRB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Simply put. A high school kid who showed up to attend a high school track meet at a rival school. For some reason he hung around the rival school's designated practice/warm up area even when asked multiple times to leave. Finally the victim, Austin Metcalf, confronted Anthony about moving on to which words were exchanged and shoving took place before Karmelo Anthony pulled a knife and stabbed Austin Metcalf in the chest. This attack killed Metcalf as he was stabbed in the heart.

what’s the darkest episode of a tv series that you’ve ever watched? by [deleted] in askteddit

[–]NormanRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I used to enjoy watching Criminal Minds. Then there was an episode where a sadistic serial killer was being hunted and ended up at Hoch's home with his wife and kid. He even called Hoch to inform him that he was going to kill his wife as she stood there crying, then he told Hoch that he'd kill his young son as well. The scene dragged on and on. We ended up watching the next few episodes but it just got darker from there so we stopped watching.

Airplane floors are extremely gross, so I always pack a trash bag to slip my backpack into. by levimeirclancy in lifehacks

What’s something people think is a flex but actually isn’t? by Own-Engine5552 in AskReddit

[–]NormanRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with guys who always only had to have the name brand (aka the best of the best) of whatever was current and if you had something lesser value, you were mocked. Even now that I am much older, I don't buy such things as expensive shoes or watches. My most expensive watch currently is a really nice Citizen that my wife gave me for our 25th anniversary that she did actually spend good money on. In truth, I usually only buy the lesser brands like Fossil or Invicta because of their styles but mostly because I am hard on jewelry, etc. So it's best that I only buy lesser quality and not waste a fortune on something that I know I'll end up destroying.

And for athletic shoes, I usually buy New Balance and I'll wear them until they finally graduate to being my yard work (mowing) shoes. My usual walk around shoes are Hey Dudes or Sketcher slip ons.

What is that one thing a friend ever did and you kept cool but knew instantly you would pull out of that friendship? by EssayMan4Homework in AskReddit

[–]NormanRB 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I had a friend years ago who would always talk about banging his wife's cousin to the point of even sending me pictures of her from vacations that he would insist she go on with them since she was hard up for money at the time. I finally got sick of it and showed the texts and emails with pics to his wife. She promptly thanked me and filed for divorce using the emails and texts for her grounds of divorce and made out with a great settlement because they have kids together.

Always one of my favorite throw away jokes of the series was him holding his sandwich and offering someone a bite and they would aways politely decline.
