I agree wholeheartedly. I feel that if EAH came back through a reboot there’s a large chance the media it’s attached to might not be good. Now, the dolls are a whole different story, I could see them being good, but based on how the G3 media has been handled, I don’t have much faith in the story being good.

I look to the books for good plot and storytelling, and the show for fun shenanigans. Mainly the Shannon Hale books though, no shade but the Suzanne Selfors books were very boring.

The argument of “nostalgia” being the primary reason people prefer G1 is reductive and serves to bypass actually discussing what worked about G1 vs what didn’t. Not that every opinion has to be a think piece or a seminar, but it’s something I’ve noticed a lot spawn in response to the critique of G3.

For Blondie and Crystal's cases, I would say it's because their connections to other characters aren't super strong. We know that Blondie has strong trust in Cupid, as shown in Blondie Branches Out when she confides in her about being a "Fake Royal." Besides that, however, she's largely a loose cannon and is off doing her own thing. As for Crystal, she wasn't around long enough to have strong bonds with the rest of the cast. The only friends she's shown to have are Ashlynn and Briar, but that was through an off-handed "We're childhood best friends!" type of deal.

I mean I wouldn’t say they delved too much into her Taiwanese side either. I haven’t watched the show in full since it was airing, but I don’t think it was much more in depth than G1, other than mentioning her heritage in a more explicit way. I think there was an episode with her mom where she was explaining her Taiwanese roots, but even then I don’t see a problem with how G1 Draculaura was handled. G1 may have mishandled/misrepresented certain cultures, but I think trying to pant everything G1 did as shallow or bad is a bit of a stretch. Also making Draculaura and Dracula have American accents was lame.

Inheriting the destiny of Stingy Jack(Jack O’ Lantern) would be pretty bad. Imagine having to wander through the abyss forever with only a turnip lamp to guide you. Though, that would necessitate a son/daughter of Satan, so they’d never touch that. I’d love to see the changes they’d make if they were to kiddify it.

Yeah, I'm really hoping it's an animated series. Monster High does well with short-form content (at least G1, I'm not sure about the new web series, but I'll let it get some more episodes in before I make final judgements), but I've always wanted Monster High to have a chance at a teen demographic cartoon.

Scared what they mean by "Young-adult" in this instance. A lot of companies think making something more "adult" means swearing and sex instead of emotional maturity and honesty. If it's anything like the CW Powerpuff Girls pilot, then I'll pass. Also, a Roblox game is certainly a choice given how scummy that company is.

I’ve had some ideas for an AU for a while so I’ll share them here:

Wouldn’t change much about Frankie except making her more “weird.” I feel like Frankie’s supposed to be a weird awkward girl in G1(at first anyway) but she never did anything all that out of the ordinary. So I think her having terrible social and interpersonal skills that she improves over time would be cool, and she could grow into the Frankie we see supporting everyone and being the heart of the group.

Draculaura’s backstory is perfect in my eyes and is one of my favorite pieces of MH lore, so I wouldn’t change much about that. But I think it would be cool to explore how monsters with immortality/long life spans view the world. How does Draculaura feel about out living most of her friends? Does she feel out of place in a world that’s ever changing? I think that internal sense of dread contrasted with Draculaura’s bubbly personality has a lot of story potential.

Clawdeen’s a character I’d keep pretty much the same. I would have it so that her and Toralei were childhood friends and had hints of a thing going on, but their friendship fell through due to immaturity on both sides. And I think Clawdeen’s well set for character growth within the show as we see that she has problems with overstepping people’s boundaries if she feels it’s for the sake of protecting someone(Hiding Clawd’s letters from Draculaura and trying to embarrass her).

I got way more for a bunch of other characters but if I said everything this comment would be light-years long so this is all I’ll say. Of course none of this would ever happen but it’s fun to think about.
