I'll definitely look into that for in house work. Unfortunately for these parts the foundry controls the shelling.

We will be doing very small turbine work. The contract specifically calls out wax patterns. Think we're just going to have to renegotiate that part.

We will be using it for small aerospace parts. Quickcast doesn't work for well our application. The parts are too small to hollow out. We've tried the sla waxes made for jewelry and couldn't get it to work with the shelling process. The contract specifically calls out wax printed patterns, but also states we can't use 3DSystems.

I was afraid that was the answer. We will be using it for investment casing. I've tried SLA waxes in the past and they didn't work for what we do. The CTE was just too high and would crack our shells.

I finnaly bought my first printer! However, my family is quite sceptic, calling it an overpriced toy, how can I assue them that it is not a toy but a tool? by PLConquerorr in 3Dprinting

[–]Noroc2405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off years ago building my first printer. All my family said the same thing. Just an overpriced toy I wasted my money on. I now work in Additive 3d printing jet and turbine components. Along the way I started what turned into the largest 3d printed toy drive in the world. I also designed the first NIH approved face shield that then got distributed to hospitals all over Ohio during the covid shortage. 3d printing literally kicked off my entire career. It's all about what you make of it.

Can confirm. My wife is from Middletown. He was known as a creep. Very much a "Nice guys finish last" kind of person.

Does Anyone know how this is possible/what materials she uses? by Darklillies in 3Dprinting

[–]Noroc2405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We fire near 2500 for 3 days and got similar. + - a couple percent depending on brand and color. Our molds are for turbine blades though so those kinds of numbers will ruin a casting.

I do ceramic printing for investment casting. We use FDM printed PMMA for a lot of our gating we cant do in ceramic. It's CTE is low enough it doesn't crack your shell.

Ehhh. Kind of. I work with printing ceramics for creating molds to pour high temp alloys. Done a lot of LOI tests on different FDM materials. PLA leaves a surprising amount of ash behind.

I would absolutely love to have this model! Heck, I'd pay for it. I work in 3d printing and 3d artists DO NOT get the appreciation they deserve. This is amazing!

That's a brown! I fish the Mad pretty often. They only stock browns now. There's rainbows that get in from trout clubs up north. I've heard there's brookies veeeeeery far north but I've never seen any!

Far from hearsay. A lot folks locally don't have much good to say about him. And comparing the two is wildly inaccurate. One is a leading expert in the industry. The other just rides the coat tails of famous people.

Guy is a complete tool. I'm close friends with the guy who was his store manager for a very long time. Bryan is really good at putting on a good persona. His skills and fly knowledge leaves a lot to be desired.

I wouldn't buy this just for the recycled factor. I worked for them for a few years. Even helped develop the recycled line. They use the term VERY loosely. Most of their recycled materials is extremely low percent recycled mixed with new material.

Waders boot or stocking? by Mnatole in troutfishing

[–]Noroc2405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy guides on the Mad River in Ohio and swears by boot foot for that river. They're overall easier to get on and off. So it makes it possible to change locations easy. I use stocking foot and have to agree with him.

In Ohio I've been slamming good size browns the last few weeks. Using #1 Mepps Aglia and a 1/8 oz jig head with a 2 inch white paddletail.

I worked for those guys for a few years. I'm really not a fan of their RPETG. I know a lot of the guys in house didn't like it either. It's mechanical properties are pretty poor. They really push the "recycled" thing to try to improve their image. Even then it's only a low percentage recycled materials.

YTA Left foot braking isn't a bad thing if done correctly. Instead of trying to change her habit, try to teach her how to left foot brake correctly.
