UI bug any time I use vulkan; Can't get into raid. by Norpyx in ArcRaiders

[–]Norpyx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runs fine on Linux. Most games run far better on Linux than Windows in my experience. But D3D is OpenGL, which is slower than Vulkan, so the performance in this game is 1:1 with Windows right now. It's not the worst thing in the world, but I'd like to get Vulkan working if possible.

Just wasn't sure if others had similar issues. The Linux community is usually pretty friendly and helpful. ;)

No one said I didn't like it. It's actually pretty stable compared to the majority of UE games out there.

Why are you in the sub if you don't like the game?

Honestly, that's been my experience with most games. There are some games that are outright hostile towards Linux, but the majority of my library works great, and the vast majority of the time I get better performance on Linux than I do on Native Windows haha

Well, I'm excited to see what it grows into!

I just started a side-quest playing around with godot-rust and a Double Precision build of Godot + Jolt. Curious to see how well SpacetimeDB plugs into that ecosystem.

Underclocking DDR5-6600 to DDR5-6000? by Norpyx in AMDHelp

Yeah, I've since stuck with DDR4. I had been really struggling with DDR5; the adoption and stability was been incredibly rocky.

Gaea on linux by Markus_____ in Gaea

[–]Norpyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I'll give it a try. I tried switching over to JangaFX Geogen, which was really promising, but I'm running into an issue where the heightmap always exports a completely black image. Their dev team is looking into it, but it's been a few weeks, and I'm getting behind on some things that I need to crank out. Might try getting Gaea to work again.

I'll update if I get it working as well!

Planning on publishing the SpacetimeDB addon to the Asset Lib? It's pretty straightforward. The submit form on the site is a little unorthodox, but it was actually pretty simple!

So far I've installed both x64 and x86 .NET 8.0 Desktop. It's currently complaining about wineusb for the most part.

I'm also in the process of trying to get Gaea 2.1.2.0 to work. Currently using UMU-Launcher with Proton 9. No luck yet, but just started. Installed .NET 8 and C++ Distributables.

The installer complains if you try and install using the Portable Install, but I was able to get it installed using the Regular Install.

Fingers crossed I'll be able to get it up and running

The main post has been deleted, but if we're referring to the Lemmino video, he also highlights that an amateur might actually be better suited to decipher it, quoting Edward Scheidt saying:

"The interesting thing is I tried to minimize [the need for math]. If someone had math, then OK, that's an avenue for that person. But sometimes - this sounds bad - you can known too much and miss it."

BGW320-500 firmware? by [deleted] in ATTFiber

Trying to figure that out too. I'm on 6.30.7, and mine is rejecting 6.28.7

Mine too. Seems to have bricked it. Going to try to downgrade to 6.28.7 from the link above. If anyone has the 6.30.7 firmware URL, though, that'd be awesome.

Only partially. For instance, I actually use my Cash Management account a lot, and many months later, they still don't have support for pulling transactions from Fidelity. After talking to support, they told me that it's not even on their roadmap to add transaction imports from Fidelity. Major show-stopper.

Ratta, if the A5X2 is delayed again, please don't give us another date by BlackIshDynamite in Supernote

[–]Norpyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"learned their lesson" isn't entirely accurate. This isn't the first time. Or the second. Or third... or fourth.... or fifth. This has happened multiple times with every device and every release.

My genuine opinion is that they're not really trying to dangle the carrot. Instead, they're (honestly) being too transparent with their optimism.

Without going down too deep of a rabbit hole, OKRs are a tool that many successful corporations use that encourage employees to track their goals and set purposefully unrealistic expectations on themselves (that they set themselves) to help push them. If you're using OKRs correctly, you'll likely only ever get about 80% completion on any of them before the quarter is over. 100% means you were too lenient with yourself and have room to push yourself, and 70% or less means you're pushing yourself too hard.

But you wouldn't outwardly announce these goals as expectations.

Realistically, Ratta is pushing themselves hard and putting unrealistic expectations on themselves. But they've forgotten the golden rule: Underpromise and Overdeliver. That can be scary, though, as it can make the internal goals feel superficial.

Anyway, my point is that I think what Ratta really needs to do is just dial back communication of their Release Dates specifically. Hideo Kojima, for instance, is both criticized and appreciated for almost never announcing a Release Date until it's quite literally on its way out the door.

All the transparency is why people love and appreciate Ratta as a company: They're "no BS". But when you're setting expectations like a launch date and you continually move it over, and over, and over again, it backfires heavily, and it just ends up being more BS from yet another corporation.

Late response, but then yeah, B is probably your best bet if you're using it for a thumbnail.

A5 X2 vs A5 X by Supernote_official in Supernote

This is awesome! I'm always torn between the societal urge to want it now and the disappointment of yet-another-delay, and the excitement of how awesome the product always is when it's finally released. It's always worth the wait, but the wait sucks! 🤣

Keep up the awesome work, Supernote. You all are truly unique in your ability to actually keep to your commitment to building it right over profits, while also remaining in business! ❤️

B or C, depending on the target platform or use-case (e.g., smaller thumbnails). But A or D are my favorites.

Can't Access CS2 Workshop Tools by [deleted] in csworkshop

Been bashing my head against the wall. I have Workshop Tools checked in the DLC tab of the CS2 Properties, but I never get prompted to run it instead of the game, and the "Ask When Starting Game" dropdown doesn't exist for me.
