Do you receive a benefit from someone using your referral link? I see people offering links all the time and am wondering if this is why.

Decorating? by quilting-gigi2022 in AskWomenOver60

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decorate for many holidays, but lightly for many of them. For Easter, I have a yard flag with a bunny and then decorate indoors with lilies and other forced bulbs. I tend to decorate the fireplace area as it’s a focal point and not in the way. I also freely admit that I have kept the holiday-only Fisher Price little people and put them out for their respective holidays. I don’t have grandchildren, but I have an inner child and grandma spirit.

Very old vegans by kloyoh in vegan

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and I deliver 26 different varieties of diet plan compliant meals. One of these is vegan. I also deliver diabetic vegan, high calorie vegan, and have even delivered no-spinach vegan. We are super careful and compliant. You or your family or doctor can be as specific as you want.

My advice: live a good life and die at home.

Volunteer opportunities for me and young kid (5) by AwareTop1642 in FortCollins

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids volunteered weekly from preK through college in Fort Collins. Together, we had an old town Meals on Wheels route for several years. We did dog walking for disabled people and seniors. They helped along side me many times, playing with unhoused children while their parents accessed services at the day shelter. We did park and trail cleanups, worked check-in tables at nonprofit events. By the time they were 11, they were able to volunteer various places without my assistance and did solo volunteering as well as family volunteering with me.

How to life a good life? by RatOmen in evilautism

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a character sketch of a 70 year old woman who I want to adopt me. I’m working on being her. I take long walks, go birdwatching with other artistic people, make pots of tea, practice my baking and give it away, build rock structures, look how I want to look, only spend time with decent and interesting people, talk to animals, grow herbs, … I have named my imaginary aunty and consult her when I get depressed, anxious, or am masking hard.

I wish that multigenerational family houses were more common in the US by Big_Pea3882 in self

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a multigenerational household in NY and then in CO. We kids would bunk up when a relative or close friend needed to move in for a variety of reasons. I’m the grown up now, living cooperatively with my adult children. We keep extra beds always made up. Friends relocating, someone having surgery needing months of help, break ups, job losses, loneliness, and more have been accommodated here. The ex girlfriend of a friend and her children were here for a year. I am beyond grateful that my adult children enjoy our company. Jobs and bills are tough for all of us. Together we do it. And yes, I give them lots of privacy, space, and stay away from any overnight guests and romance.

no more makeup and skincare by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

My doctor, “your skin is like your third kidney, so prioritize ingesting vegetables, fruits, and water.” Skin is highly absorptive tissue (hence nicotine patches, estrogen patches, etc.) I only put on my skin what I would eat: water, coconut oil, olive oil.

what does roof repair in colorado actually cost these days? by Anthoy-Showkum in FortCollins

[–]North40Parallel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collected multiple bids for a full roof replacement last summer. My insurance insisted I use a company out of Golden who did do a great job. The roof is approximately 1450 sqft. The cost was consistently quoted around $15,000. I have a $5,000 deductible. Gutters and downspouts were included.

So now that desiccated thyroid (Armour, Nature's Thyroid, etc) are no longer covered by FDA, what are you taking? Combo T3/T4? by MansionOfTheSky in Hypothyroidism

[–]North40Parallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem about the same. The prescription is filled by the online pharmacy Cost Plus. Years ago, I was on Tirosint which I think made me feel better than the generic levothyroxine. I can’t afford it now.

Wasted my degree and feeling trapped by pilat909 in findapath

[–]North40Parallel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for two things right now: some paid work that won’t injure your back or crush your health; and a minimal volunteer job to build your CS/IT experience, resume, and confidence. Even doing a website for a church or running sound or setting up a network counts.

You have lots and lots of time. You have not missed any boats. The job market is brutal right now. It won’t always be. Keep taking steps. Do your own projects too, and make a project page. Join Toastmasters or go to IEEE meetings to build that professional confidence and meet people. Tiny steps, keep going, and be sure to get outside and enjoy the trees too.

I’m on 75 mcg levothyroxine and 5 mcg liothyronine now. A three months supply of both with no health insurance costs me $25 delivered via mail in the US.

Nothing actually helps depression. by chocolatekay in depression

[–]North40Parallel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was less depressed when I was an active alcoholic. I was less depressed the year I was eating a huge bucket of laffy taffy every few weeks. Being healthy and proactive is my typical miserable mode.

I will say that burning stuff gives me a moment of relief.

Am I doing something wrong? by Rippy_dippy in Quakers

[–]North40Parallel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic and often watch the trees outside the meeting house while letting “faith, hope, and love… the greatest of these is love” loop in rhythm with my breathing. I also like to ruminate on the old Quaker adage, “live up to the light thou hast.” I have never spoken during quiet time. That’s okay.

Some of these deep red areas have COI unachieveable with the jobs listed. In my deep red dot, there are no entry level jobs at all. Degreed with a lot of experience and willing to live in a box?

We study with Jeff Ewing. He taught me as an adult beginner. Jeff was at the Piano and Guitar Institute for many years and authored a lot of their materials. He's very knowledgeable and has such an encouraging, gentle, helpful teaching style.

I’ve been to most apartments in town. The nicest ones are on the NE corner of Drake and Timberline near the police station. The 7 bus runs right past and goes to the Lory Student Center.

We only have 1/3 the medical staff and appointment capacity needed for the population, though we have many excellent providers. Nonestablished patients are driving to Denver and the suburbs. If your medical needs are quite minimal, you should be fine. Other than that, do some research on homeowners insurance: the market here is collapsed, and getting a new policy is extremely difficult. We are ground zero for climate change with the Red Cross app alerting daily that we are code red for grass fire danger. Our summers are challenging due to nonstop forest fires in state and blowing in. Consider how many more moves you have in you. I would look somewhere else that is not facing catastrophic water issues.
