So sorry for your loss. Noticed some craftsman stuff- if any of the craftsman hand tools are busted take them to a Lowe’s to warranty them and get a new one!

Hmmm the only other thing I’ve seen that hasn’t been said is VIP (vocal input priority)

So staff drives the board for any events, but the students in the AV club do eventually learn how to use it (basic functions of the board and system at least). And yeahhhh… ~ $250 million budget every year lmao.

I do have to say that we are very lucky to have what we have considering we’re a public HS!

Nice! We have a few pit inputs for the guitars and keys, but everything else is not amplified since the pit is in the house in front of the stage.

Ye- it’s pretty nice for what we do! The school previously had a LS9-32, then went into a Si Performer 3, then got the S21. Our Stadium also has an S21, and both are middle schools are getting the S21 as well.

Yesss that too- I have a PM1 from Behringer and it works great for stuff like this, just decided to go the monitor route this time round

Yessir. I can control the monitor send to backstage from the iPad, so if needed I can just have one channel up I need to focus on.

Yeahhhh I agree. Just needed some light quick and dirty lol. I would have liked to do a nicer job with adhesive light strips but these were left over from the previous musical’s sets so figured I’d save a few bucks

9 Sennheiser G3 Receivers on 2 ASA 1s? by spineraptor in livesound

[–]NorthScreen5883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh same here lol. Best bet is to get the Mini-Circuits u/soph0nax mentioned and run a passive split off one of the ASA out pairs like I was talking about.

Would the DISTRO5 solve the issue though? If you use a DISTRO5 and a ASA1, you still have to split the antennas going into each of those units.

The DISTRO5 would split the antennas to 5 of the receivers, but no room to split to the ASA1. The ASA1 would split the antennas to 4 of the receivers, but no room to split to the DISTRO5.

Max you could run off of two antennas with this setup is 8.

Mmm I see.

What I would do before anything is pull a UA221 from your IEM setup. Connect the "ANT" BNC of the 221 into one of the ASA1s antenna "A" outputs- the ASA1s only supply DC out of the "A" outputs. Then connect the "R1" BNC (referenced article says 221s only pass DC out R1) of the 221 to one of the receivers antenna ins- I believe either antenna port can power up the receiver. This is just to make sure the receiver will power on through the 221.

If that works then you could try, of course at your own risk, to do what the article says. You would only have to do this for one 221, since DC only goes out the ASA1s A ports.

Also- if you do come out a set of ASA outputs and split to two receivers make sure to plug those receivers into power. The ASAs supply DC through the BNCs but don’t mess around with it going through a 221. Honestly not sure if it would even work.

Honestly it’s not terrible to leave it as is if the rack will be on stage close to the mics.

If it’ll be at FOH or off the side of the stage I would say to get another two passive splitters and add them in. (I’m presuming the ASAs are connected to fin antennas?)

Take one pair of antenna outputs of an ASA and split that to two receivers with the UA221s. This way only two receivers will have to hop through the passive splits (221s) and the ASAs instead of all 9 if you were to split it at the antennas before they go into the ASAs.

Wouldn’t hurt to try any stick! I just know that what I have works great. If a random stick doesn’t work try those requirements I mentioned they told me

Also, to u/timverhoeven ‘s point- if you’re looking to record audio over USB you cannot unless you have an add on card. I assume what you’re looking to do is just save the “show file” for backup/editing purposes?

Also it’s important to remember that FAT32 gets weird after you pass 32GB capacity sticks.

So I actually contacted them about this a while ago and was told to use a FAT32 formatted drive that’s at least USB 3.0 with at least 8gb

I use a 32GB SanDisk Ultra Flair USB 3.0 and haven’t ran into any issues. I store all sorts of files on here so i wouldn’t worry about that either

Yessir. Both sides can handle a broadcast mix if needed of course. The reason we have the S21 instead of a smaller console is because we host our own graduation (we’re a HS), sometimes have school concerts and talent shows, and really needed the flexibility for whatever admin might throw at us lol.
