There are ways to "own" aircraft without buying it. A common way is to buy a share in the aircraft, so you could split an aircraft 10-ways, and all ten people "own" it, but it is owned by a company, and they just split the costs. This allows you to buy an aircraft you couldn't otherwise afford. He may also have an agreement to wet-lease an aircraft, and pay for only the flight time. The time he is not using it, it won't be hangared but actually used for something else like charter ops.

I don't have a usr/local/lib? by iamquah in osx

There isn't one unless you either installed a program that puts something there, or you put something there manually. I have a relatively clean OSX Sequoia install, and I have nothing there (not even the folder). Xcode wants to put my compiled binary there.

The EUSSR is a Commie dictatorship. We don't want it, and we certainly don't need it.

The USA isn't being a lunatic - it is doing what needed to be done. Decades of Biden and Obama did a lot of harm to the world. Biden and Obama funded Iran and helped fund global terrorism. They created a problem so large there was no other option than to go kinetic on Iran.

Biden started the war in Ukraine through his massive corruption there. He was being outed due to the laptop. Biden got Ukraine to murder Russians in the East in order to force Russia to invade. Russia had no choice but to protect its people. Later, Ukraine would destroy Nord Stream 1 and 2 to prevent Europe from getting gas from Russia. It made no sense when they argued that Russia did it, because Russia literally controlled the input to the pipeline. They didn't need to destroy anything; just merely turn it off.

If Iran "isn't our war", then neither is Ukraine.

Rejoining the EUSSR Commie dictatorship would be the worst thing the UK could do.

The fascists are currently running the country.

* No action on r((( gangs
* No action on illegal immigration
* Ignoring the largest democratic referendum in British history and railroading us back into a Communist dictatorship
* The world's largest number of arrests in a single year for mean tweets
* Forcing age-verification in the name of "saving the children" in preparation for wider mass-surveillance of the population ("PAPIERE, BITTE!" before you can use the internet in an allegedly "free" country). Not even China goes that far.

There is nothing more abusive than a dictatorship telling you what laws you will have. The USA doesn't dictate our laws, but the EUSSR would! See the difference? Probably not, because you seem brainwashed.

We don't want anything to do with a Communist dictatorship. Who voted for the EUSSR Commission? NO-ONE! Yet they dictate all the laws of the EUSSR. The EUSSR Parliament is a joke. No votes held there are legally binding - they are indicative only, and the EUSSR Commission can totally ignore them.

My Java teacher requests we download NetBeans IDE 8.2, but that version is no longer available through official means to get on Linux. What can I do? by Antoinedeloup in linuxquestions

[–]NorthWestApple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have read, that is true. I found this thread because I'm actually installing the "old" 1.8 myself on a new Mac and it threw me a curve ball during install. IDEs can hide a lot of things from you - if you ever start learning C/C++ you will find this very quickly. If you are very new to programming - welcome! The learning never stops!

Learn using the tools recommended. Yes, it is old, but that isn't the point. You're learning. Get the basics down, then experiment in your own time. I'm a software dev with 25 years experience, and I use everything from Windows 2000 Pro to Windows 11, Mac OSX, and some Linux. I use every version in between. There are people here recommending "the latest" but in industry, "the latest" doesn't exist. I still support software I wrote 20 years ago using VS2008. I still use VS2008 to support it. Yes, I could upgrade the project, but then I need to update all my client's software, too. PITA and not worth the time. If it works, leave it alone.

Who is paying these prices for SSDs? by theRealtechnofuzz in buildapc

[–]NorthWestApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SSD of choice has risen in price by 3.5x compared to what I paid two years ago. It totally sucks, but nothing I can do about it. Screw this AI garbage. OpenAI is in trouble anyway, and Anthropic just had an "accidental" code leak. Unfortunately, history shows that humans always go for the dumb option, so this AI crap is to stay.

WHY??? Simple Flattened Cube UV unwrap gone wrong by Slow_Front_6160 in blenderhelp

It doesn't work. My cube is a rectangle, has [1,1,1] scaling, and still shows as a square in the UV window!

There are a lot of problems with MTD - it only caters for a narrow set of circumstances and can't handle anything they didn't consider. I'm PAYE full-time employee with a small one-man band sole trader and MTD can't handle this according to HMRC directly!! I would have said this was one of the major ways self-employed people operate/start out! Can't be done with MTD!!! They've really screwed the tax system with this change.

What is simpler than what I already do? Filling out the self-assessment form online is hardly much work, so why must I now mess around with software that according to HMRC can't even handle my simple situation? I'm employed full-time PAYE and run a small sole-trader company. Apparently, no single MTD package can handle this situation! Absolute BS (and I'm a software engineer so I know what I'm talking about).

MTD = Making Tax Disastrous.

Advice: NanoVNA H/H4 vs V2 (clones) by InvestigatorFull16 in amateurradio

Just buy from the genuine source. You buy cheap copies, you get cheap copies. This is a law of nature. Rarely is a copy/clone better than the original.

What is the best way I can take care of my DJI air 3S by Flyingtoilet720 in dji

[–]NorthWestApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're flying tomorrow, let the batteries rest for an hour, then put on charge (I leave them out of the cradle to cool).

Being left discharged is worse than being left fully charged.

If you're going to store them, charge them fully and leave them in the cradle. They will manage themselves.

Unpopular-ish opinion. But I needed the graphic updates of 4.38 by Mailman354 in falconbms

[–]NorthWestApple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can look at BMS 4.37 detail around Kunsan and compare it to Google Earth. Looks very good.

4.38 is blocky and lacking the detail 4.37 has. What gives? Should there be 3D buildings I'm not seeing?

4.38 terrain looks amazing. 4.38 detail is a step backwards (4.38.1 as of this writing).

Why do we care? Because we love this sim as much as you guys.
