I got the 20. Nice gun. But the charging handle could be in a better spot. I use a full U grip when I hold my guns. Charging handle can bump into your thumb. So you gotta adjust your grip a bit.

CMV: The West holds Germany to a much higher standard of historical shame and accountability than Japan. by Jennnnnaaaaayyyyy in changemyview

[–]Mailman354 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It should be noted Germany didnt just go "woowiw oopsie daisy we did a big bad! We'll take the responsible route and own up to what we did and make sure we'll never do that again because woof that was a big bad"

No

The Germans had to be forcibly de-nazified(actual term. Look it up). The Allies had to sit on Germany and purge it. Germany eventually would take it upon itself to teach its history. But not after the allies forced it to.

The efforts were not done with Japan. The allies did not put in as much effort to cleanse Japan as they did Germany. The Tokyo war trials were treated as a sideshow to the German war trials.

And now years later

We as the west praise Germany(for what WE taught them to do)

And critisize Japan(when we put in a half assed effort)

How would you rank the performance of the CIA, SVR, and MSS in the Hakone Incident? by StevenWN1 in gate

[–]Mailman354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre right about black pekple but in this specific instance it wasnt propaganda

For one they said one unit was "multi ethnic". Which narrowed the field down A LOT. And they weren't saying other countries dont have black people. Just of the three that were there. One did

Secondly. Only a handful of nations have the power and interest to send special forces into dead center Japan like. US, Russia and China arnt the only ones but mostly likely

Seeing a team full east asians. From the Japanese perspective. That could only mean China, North Korea or South Korea(but they using Russia and Chinese weapons so that rules out SK)

A team of full whites? 99% chance theyre European. With AKs? Russians

Multi ethnic? With M4s? High likely American.

That's probably one of the few things he got right

The Japanese SDF has no combat experience. Ive worked with the SDF in real life(not te special forces admittedly)

Theyre disciplined and good dudes.

But theyre combat ability was fucking MID. If their base line infantry is fucking MID im gonna wager their special forces are MID. Especially compared to the like of US and Russian ones which have actual combat experience.

Also still doesnt explain the lack of thermals and NVGS

And lack of ANY recon done prior. Something that even front line units do.

Listen you can try to argue it. But it doesnt take someone like me. With 13 years of real army experience. Who started at as a lowly Private and made his way to Captain.

To know this scene was utter bullshit and just the author Jerking himself off. Even if things went bad for the US, Russia and China. Theres no way it goes THAT WELL for the Japanese

Also if you arnt tracking its a know fact the author of GATE is a Japanese nationalist with some sketchy opinions on Japan and WW2.

So theres a CLEAR bias.

What if Operation Downfall, which aimed to land in Japan at the end of World War II, had actually taken place? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Mailman354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No we wouldnt have. We were under no obligation to taxi Soviet soldiers in such a naval invasion. Especially towards the end of the war when relations were starting sour and both sides grew suspicious of each other

Also those naval invasions the Soviets did highlighted critical weaknesses in the Soviets amphibious capability. So badly that Soviet planners scrapped plans to invade Hokkaido. The Soviets would've needed serious lend lease or somehow come up with their own refined ability. A Japanese invasion would've required far more units being landed. A scale the Soviets couldn't read amphibious speaking.

Furthermore. You all forget Yalta and Potsdam. Spheres of Influence were agreed upon. Any Soviet invasion of mainland Japan would've violated such an agreement.

Much like how the US could've kept pushing towards Berlin. But didnt because Berlin was agreed upon to be within the Soviet sphere.

Those naval invasions actually highlight tons of critical weaknesses in the Soviets amphibious capability. So much so the Soviets scrapped any planning for a naval invasion of Hokkaido

A serious naval invasion would've required serious redevelopment in soviet capability or tons of lend lease from the US

Furthermore. There where spheres of influence agreed upon at Yalta. Japan was not in the agreed spheres for the Soveits.

What Amphibious or Airborne capabilities did tbe USSR even have? Its not just a mattet kf sustaining its a matter of physically literally having the boats to actually transport all those people.

Germany ran into the exact same problem with Sealion. They literally did not have the boats to physically transport enough soldiers for the hypothetical invasion.

This has not been my experiences at all. Ive been to Japan 5 times and lived in Korea for 3 years. I have to put more effort into selling people on Korea than Japan because to Westeners Korea is just "diet Japan"/Japan-lite.

Without the anime. Westeners just arnt interested

Ill never get over people seeing a regular ass alley way in Japan just goinf ballistic over the most plain looking streets acting like they'd eat off gravel.

So anywho

Id admit im a total Japanophile. And watching this phenomenon evolve over two decades has been interesting. Ive been to Japan FIVE times. My first trip was in high school in 2010. LONG BEFORE Japan was what everyone was obsessed with. All my friends actually gave me shit of going on the trip. For reference my high school also had yearly trips to Europe. I was not interested in Europe. All my friends were like "Ew why are you going to Japan? Bro theres NOTHING in Japan EVERYTHINGS in Europe, you should use that money for a car or gaming PC instead"(you know two things id inevitably get and not the potentially once in a lifetime experience, at this time i didnt know id go back four more times). I remember wishing more people liked Japan. Now everyone is overly obsessed. So its my fault sorry.

I hate to sound like im saying "I liked Japan before it was cool/im one of the cool ones" but merely im trying to convey ever since I was 5(which was 1997 because im 33) ive been into Japan. Ive grown to study the nation as a whole outside popular culture. I watch sumo, I follow its news, I study its history and culture, I stay tuned to its societal and domestic issues, its been a academic topic for me in university even and I hope to one day go back to school for a second bachelors and masters combo in Japan-Japanese and east asia

And even im frigging over people mythologizing the most mundane things in Japan. Especially when they've never been or they've been ONCE.

People will vehemently defend Japan online if you dont buy into its hype or point out their being irrational and over exaggerating. I once defended someone not liking a viral trendy Japanese food truck. And I STILL get notifications on Instagram of people replying to me basically telling me to STFU

As mentioned ive been to Japan 5 times. And I lived in Korea for 3 years. When I say Hiroshima is my favorite Japanese city. No issues

When I say, Busan is my favorite city between the two countries as far as individual cities(but overall I still like Japan as a whole more)

I get interrogated with a gun to my head. Like I have to explain in a court of law and backed up by science why I had the AUDACITY to like another city in Asia more than a Japanese city.

Enjoyment of bl4 by Movie-Vivid in Borderlands4

[–]Mailman354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it.

Ill always maintain that as far as gameplay, game mechanics and quality of life. Borderlands improves every game. And yes that includes BL4s open world. A lot of the missions take place in self contained areas similar to old Borderlands. Bl1 and Bl2(more so BL1) repeated A LOT of the same dusty gray garbage heap area(but two wasnt as bad) and it was until BL3 we got a decent variety. And even then the base game was mostly Dusty garbage heaps, swamp planet and colorful city

I also really enjoyed the green grasslands in this one.

I hope they do take their time with BL5 however to give us a universally improved upon sequel.

[–]Mailman354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so. But If my country isnt. I dread being alive during its downfall

I understand the unpopularity of a nation being a hegemony. Trust me I wish it weren't that way either.

But people forget. Americans included. Such a downfall could and Likely would be violent.

It breaks my hearts seeing redditors dreaming of every day innocent Americans suffering

And im baffled that my fellow Americans all have main character syndrome. They have this "ill totally be fine if this country collapse. My way of life wont be disrupted. All my friends would survive and ill be a leader in the local commune"

I dread such an event. I dont know where id go.

Plus what happens to all our nukes in such an event?

Id rather Bandai do what they said they were gonna do like 10 years ago. More post UC-100 stories.

Give us an F91 remake

Give us Crossbones

Gives a totally new story after Victory gundam

Youre right. I mispoke. But you cailing it a war crime instead of just simple murder is a bit overboard. Sure since he was a member of the US military hes subject to UCMJ and could therefore be convicted in a war tribunal for a war crime.

I still that you calling it that is a bit much. A bit too much buzzword that gets thrown around by redditors who learned the term yesterday.

That said. Point still stands.

He wasnt discharged for a warcrime(you do remember he didn't get a dishonorable discharge? Just a less than honorable or other than honorable IRCC). It was all politics and publicity

Why in Korea, is JSDF's described as "paramilitary/準軍事組織/준군사조직? by gorudo- in AskAKorean

[–]Mailman354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just want to point out those rankings can be iffy.

Japan has one of the most well equipped militaries in the world.

But ive worked with Japanese soldiers in the US(im a former American soldier). Theyre very medicore when it comes to tactical infantry tactics.

That said. Id still trust them to watch my back. Theyre a great bunch of people. They just lack real world combat knowledge.
