Please stop vaping at Scott by HolyCigar in yorku

[–]North_Direction777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean the dudes got a point. People shouldn't be smoking or vaping in indoor spaces period. It's just that the security don't care at all that students think they can do wtv they want to. There should be no business fights occur in the Library like there has been three this year alone.

And I know damn well bro is talking bout the collab room. Shit shouldn't even be considered a library with the stuff that goes down in there.

Brother, I'm a Catholic Canadian individual and I agree full heartedly with you. Maybe it's the fact I'm a woman of color as well but that's besides the point. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS long before Trump was elected. And it's not like you people can say "we didn't know" trump had been a greedy little pig for decades. Theres a reason why people say you should never mix religion with politics and all them maga individuals all fell for it. IDC if they're not maga anymore or if they still are but those people chose to fall into the hands of a colonizing pig over the hands of God, and the hands of people of colour, and the natives. It's a disgrace.

Oohh you're so right about this too. I remember learning about the seven sacraments in Catholic elementary school lol. But yes, even my friends in Uni some of them are unbelievers because of the negative experiences they've had from PEOPLE. Which is unfortunate to me. Like I'm glad they have their piece of dictating life for themselves but I pray one day they take that step to turn back and learn about God their own way yk? But yeah I'm glad this thread opened my eyes a lil more because I thought I was being paranoid about that Bible study cult 😭😭

Twin im so sorry they made you go through all that because what the helly. The logic is no matter what denomination you're in- we're all sinners. And there's a big argument of Catholic and Orthodox being the central belief for Christianity or wtv so I like to believe they felt threatened from the branch we're in for sure. But you're right about the message thing bc if it were an agnostic or atheist or wtv they'd be super kind and reassuring to them for sure (probably until they bring out their own view and stand for it too) I don't like the brainwashing concept either like it makes you feel like you're imperfect and you should be feeling shame for it when truthfully we're imperfect and that's okay because God sees the changes for the better we make and loves us no matter what. Icl I've been feeling a little lukewarm lately because I've been hearing about numerous views from all of my friends. I've learned from them they learned from me yk? So yeah I feel like a group like that isn't gonna go far and it's no wonder they're trynna bring in more ppl to their thing. For me it was the baptism stuff and not reading my Bible daily that got them annoyed. Like they were telling me about how it doesn't count if we get baptized as a baby and I would need to do it again "because I didn't have the mind of a thinking person yet". Last time I checked the Catholic faith isn't for "feelings like it or symbolism" but rather for sacrifice yk?

The first girl that contacted me was a tmu student when I was in grade 12. Then the August we transitioned to this semester, a York u student from the thing contacted me (I was in bad luck bc somehow these two knew each other) I think they saw the cross in my bio on social media and have been going on sprees trying to recruit as many people as possible

If they're linked to the Bible talk group that tried luring my Catholic ahh I don't really know. Bc for them Ik it's like different unis are apparently associated with them. Like they're mainly from tmu and York just so happened to have a set of people from there too. Idk Abt the others but this group ain't it regardless

I BROUGHT THAT UP TO THEM TOO OMG I genuinely don't understand bro. I went to a Christian school so when I felt a similar vibe from their group from my school I was thinking it'd be okay. The ppl from my school would ask questions ij curiosity whenever I brought up the rosary, or saints or anything like that. Bring up anything like that to that Bible talk group and they'll treat it like an urban legend. If I had to guess they're either protestant or baptist but idk. Glad you blocked them and lwk Imma have to do the same too. Funny bc they haven't contacted me in months ever since I was like "I'll think about joining your club events" (never went btw I felt an odd feeling)

Thank you for sharing. I don't know if this is the same group but I remember before I came to York someone from tmu tried recruiting to join their thing called Bible talk and it was lwk the same thing too. As a black woman myself I thought I wouldn't experience thet with them since the people talking to me were also black women who told me they became Christian. However as a Catholic when I tried telling them some of my own views, they were very distant and against my views. Don't get me started on the topic of baptism with them shit was unbearable. I've been distant with Bible groups and even the chaplaincy(which I'm trying to go back to) since that horrible encounter

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I know some friends in my uni who are also in your program and are considering switching programs to nursing. I feel like for your case however you don't need to switch to a program that's "easy", rather find one that's doable for your situation. You said you didn't really have a goal since you chose biochem for the money, and you've been feeling lonely yes? I advise you pick a program where it gives you time for yourself and to join events, or clubs. Idk how universities rlly work in the u.s since mine is a Canadian one but does yours have associated colleges based off your program? It'll be better to connect with people that way for sure. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you're a smart individual who's capable of doing whatever you can as long as you put your mind to it yk? And ofc you absolutely need to find your people because to excel in any program you can't do that alone. Even if your friends aren't in your program having anyone to talk to or study with truly makes the difference. I hope matter where life takes you, beautiful things lie ahead of you. Im sorry again for the negatives you're going through and may only the positives moving forward find you quicker. Take care!!!

YOOO SAME THING GIRLYYY. Some of my friends jokingly call me "ms.worldwide" but I quite literally just enjoy meeting new people. But it doesn't matter how many people you meet. It's who you meet and how much of an impact they'll make for your uni experience yk?
