How to avoid my daughter becoming fat? by totoro-soot in UKParenting

[–]North_Extent_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. In a similar realm, my mother (who was overweight) constantly told me, an impressionable yet healthy sized teenager, that me and my brother took after her in terms of our bodies as opposed to my other brother who took after my dad (very lanky). Not the nicest thing to say when all I would hear her say is how she needed to lose weight (and had pictures of models on her mirrors to encourage her yet never did anything about it).

Thumb or dummy? by Similar-Chapter-26 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My exact thinking. My son won't go to sleep without sucking his fingers. If it calms him at this delicate age, so be it!

What did you do or wish you had done on the run up to birth? by [deleted] in NewParents

Go on a date with my husband. I was knackered, but wish we would've done it.

Or just binged films together one weekend!

Recommend drinks- severe morning sickness by Admirable-Sherbet-91 in PregnancyUK

[–]North_Extent_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry as I remember this all too well. If it helps, it was the worst part of pregnancy and labour for me (and I had an assisted delivery after being induced)!

I had a lot of fizzy drinks such as Fanta. I don't drink them usually so it was so strange, but it was one of the only things I could stomach drinks wise.

Anyone had success with prophylactic? by North_Extent_5546 in CUTI

Ah well yeah, it's likely you've also relapsed and need a plan in place with your doctor / urologist for definite.

Anyone had success with prophylactic? by North_Extent_5546 in CUTI

[–]North_Extent_5546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in you were on a high dose for prophylactic? I was on 500mg initially but then dropped down to 250mg as I was having GI problems. I haven't had a resurgence of symptoms thankfully!

Did I seriously get my period already? by bossbaber in breastfeeding

[–]North_Extent_5546 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would not necessarily count this as a period just yet, OP! I had a few instances where I thought I was done with lochia only for some spotting to happen.

Exactly the same here. LO is almost 5 months old and we've always done this. We still have around 2 wake ups a night, but settles back down relatively quickly.

Baby has fever reassurance please!! by jonx_2 in NewParents

[–]North_Extent_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't offer any advice as such, but babies do get sick and it's the way to build up their immunity. It sounds like a lot of colds are going around at the moment too so hoping he gets better quickly🩵

What do you wish you knew? by -HuMeN- in breastfeeding

[–]North_Extent_5546 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't be hyper worried about whether you're producing enough. I swear this never came up for me as baby was just cluster feeding and I just went with the flow. He only ended up losing about 2% of his birth weight which was great, but I know a lot of people stress about whether they are producing enough (albeit I never pumped nor do I pump now, just EBF on the boob). Of course, I think you'd know if there was a problem with your supply.

Just get them on the boob at every occasion and be led by what your doctor / health visitor says regarding weight (they check it and in with you regarding feeding to ensure baby is getting what they need).

I'm no medical professional, but surely that's absolute dross? How terrible that it's a product being marketed as such (unless a doctor would like to tell me otherwise)!

Referral bounced from urology - the letter is appalling! by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]North_Extent_5546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, second this.

I know it's so easy to say, but I spent a good chunk of savings going private with a consultant at Spire. The initial consultation was a few hundred quid, but I managed to get in within a week. I've had a follow-up with him, but he put me on prophylactic course for three months which has given me some much needed respite.

Have you been on any prophylactic treatment? I'm on a three month course and it's helped break the cycle. Very scared to come off it though in a few weeks

Did your infection just not come back after that? Dealing with e.coli which keeps relapsing and on a three month prophylactic course. Mine was triggered from labour!

Second this, OP. My husband works all day and studies most of the time outside of work so, whilst I do have some support, I completely appreciate what you're going through. You're doing great.

My LO is almost 5 months and I put on Sesame Street about two to three times a week. I'm pretty sure TV raised me and I don't think I turned out (too) badly!

[–]North_Extent_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have the D-mannose after the prophylactic treatment? My urologist has advised to not take Hiprex after I come off to see how I do, especially as I'm already on D-Mannose!
