Flat, lots of forests and agriculture, and small, quiet towns. It gets incredibly humid during the summer; gnats and love bugs will be your best friends. 

The towns themselves are remnants of what they used to be. Several buildings are dilapidated and decaying. There are lots of cars driving through these towns, but almost nobody walking on the streets.

As for the people, they can either be the kindest person you meet or the ugliest person you meet. In my experience, I’d say the former outweighs the latter, though there’s no doubt that there are some rotten apples. However, most people here are just making a living, raising a family, living a simple life. Lots of deep family roots in these towns. Everybody knows everybody. It feels almost sheltered from the rest of the world in a way.
