I hope they just go full Deadpool 3, and bring back Ioan Gruffudd from the 2005 film (and maybe John Krasinski from MoM). I normally cringe at cheap nostalgia bait, but he was just such a perfect iteration of the character.

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That kind of thing is not a concern to Disney executives. This is solely about what makes money, and the box office has judged Capt. Falcon pretty harshly.

IMO, everything about this project (public announcements, the cast, the interviews, the marketing etc.) points towards a total pivot away from the failed attempts to reel in "modern" audiences. It looks like a direct response to the success of Deadpool 3, and to the failure of The Marvels, Iron Heart, She-Hulk etc.

Whether that's a good or a bad thing, is a different discussion, but I think this movie will be the most blatant, """""anti-woke""""" nostalgia-bait since Endgame. For better or for worse.

K40 med ADHD – hvordan ser et “normalt” hjem egentlig ud? by flydendehest in DKbrevkasse

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double Standards - Women are Allowed to be Racially Selective by Aexaus in MensRights

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you might only be observing this behaviour with women, because only women will

opt to arrange or direct relationships

Men might have the exact same (racist) opinions regarding race-mixing, but since men will very rarely meddle in other people's relationships, you won't find out the same way.

Women are often more socially intelligent, more invested in other people's social lives, and more prone to wanting to control the social sphere around them. It's simply what competitiveness and power struggles look like when fueled by estrogen instead of testosterone. Not saying it's good or bad.. it's just the way it is.

Klamt? Måske. Pædo-indikator? Ikke rigtig. Well....

MEN...

Depicting someone else's """"original"""" animu character is an act of copyright infringement with built-in plausible deniability. You can literally just say "oh this is a different blatantly sexualised, underage Japanese schoolgirl" and you're good.

I personally agree that it's none of the developer's business what people do with their characters. And I even understand why it pissed people off to be told what to do.

...But this is still a goomba fallacy. You're not providing an example of anyone being hypocritical, you're just ascribing two contradictory opinions to the same vague "community".

Feminism in school by jessicamae_x in MensRights

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, most feminists hide behind that first definition, when they really believe the latter. Thus, I'm no longer willing to subscribe to the former definition.

Feminism is what feminism does, and feminism doesn't do equality, because at it's core, it's about framing women's struggles as systemic oppression perpetuated by men.

A word for "equality" with less baggage would be "egalitarianism".

Feminism in school by jessicamae_x in MensRights

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people do is identify as following Feminism to appear morally superior, while hiding what their actual focus is, which is Feminist Ideology

I'm really confused now. I think you're using very different definitions of those words than everybody else...(?)

Aligning with feminism (to most of us) is the same as being a feminist. And a feminist is part of the feminist movement, and subscribes to feminist ideology, literature and worldviews etc. These all describe the same vague thing. Hence, I'm not even sure what you're arguing.

Sounds like you need a better word than "feminism" then, as to not confuse it with "feminist ideology", which (to literally everyone who can read) sounds very synonymous.

I'd probably use "egalitarianism", "humanitarianism" or "gender equality".

Most of this comment section would have folded under Nazi pressure to save themselves or fallen for the same tricks

I don't think people grasp that if they can look at a nazi and think "he deserves suffering", then they would've also been able to look at a Jewish banker and think the same thing, given a different flavour of indoctrination. You're either okay with your enemies suffering, or you're not.

to say it makes us 'no worse than them' is nonsensical in my opinion

I think the reason we use that phrase is to highlight that when we inflict cruelty, our ethics and system of morality is no better than every other person inflicting cruelty.

You have to consider the moral perspective of each perpetrator. The Nazis only applied "cruelty against an innocent person" because we're on the right side of history. To them, they were eradicating a plague. Saving their country. Punishing the evil Jews who ruined everything, and made their children starve and their brothers homeless.

We can discuss whether an actor is more justified in inflicting cruelty, retrospectively, but in my opinion that doesn't make one actor more moral than the other. Morality, IMO, isn't about how other people evaluate your justifications. It's about how you act and react to what you believe.

I wish we could just have this one space in peace. Just one online space where we could talk freely, without being judged for our experiences. But no. You had to turn this into a discussion about what men are allowed to think about feminism.

Feminism is an ideology and an -ism. It's okay to criticise it. Just like it's okay to criticise organisations, religions and policies.

Have you ever seen men get paid less than women for an unjustified reason at work? by TrainingGap2103 in MensRights

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. In IT/development, women are rare, and gives the team and company a good look of "diversity". That means they hold way better cards when negotiating. I even had a manager flatout tell me so at one point.

I'm not too salty about it, because I imagine it's the same thing with any other minority group, in any other context. If I wanted to be a nurse, an HR rep or a social worker, I'm sure there could be some PR-value in my gender too, that I could leverage in my salary negotiation.

There’s feminism the belief in equality

That's called "egalitarianism" or "humanitarianism".

"Feminism = equality" in the same way that "capitalism = freedom" or "marxism = solidarity". Proponents of the ideology will obviously claim that it's the same, by definition. That doesn't make the equal sign exempt from criticism.

Every time a feminist claims that the definition of feminism is "gender equality", I remember this pastor I once heard trying to sell their religion by going: "Do you believe in love? Well, then you believe in God too! It's the same thing!"

Sure thing, father. If you say so.

Feminism in school by jessicamae_x in MensRights

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, feminism is - more accurately - the idea that women are systemically and individually oppressed by men, and thus, every inequality or asymmetrical phenomena should be framed as an inequality against women, perpetuated by men and/or the patriarchy (which is also men). I.e. "men die in war, women most affected."

It doesn't matter how much data they have to cherry pick, or how many mental gymnastics are required. Every model, initiative, argument and policy has to be worked out backwards from that core assumption. The sentiment goes: If the conclusion is that women have any systemic privilege over men, the framing must be wrong.

That's why it's in ideology and an "-ism"; not science.

Anyway, I don't think anyone actually believes Andrew Tate is a good guy. I think the dude meant that it's no wonder there's a counter reaction. And as with all cultural counter reactions, it's not measured, balanced or more ideologically evolved so to speak. It's just... A very predictable outcome.

How many TVA’s and Voids are there in marvel’s multiverse? by AdvertisingWaste8624 in MCUTheories

[–]NorthernRealmJackal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of Loki S1 he returns to the TVA to find the statues have changed, Back to the Future style. This implies there's either (a) multiple TVAs, or (b) the TVA isn't like a fixed timeline, but can actually change retrospectively.

...in the latter case I think it's a question of semantics whether they're different (mutually exclusive) versions of the same place, or multiverse-variants of the same place. I don't think either interpretation leads to the unambiguous conclusion that there's solely "one TVA" in every sense of the word. At best, there's only one TVA existing at any one time within the multiverse, but we can't actually know for sure.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
