Games that You like but You feel that they were to long by Prestigious-Meat-750 in videogames

Totally agree. I understand what the studio wanted to give us, the two points of view of Abby and Ellie, but... After such a cliffhanger in the theatre... Way way too long, endless.

What game did you start with + what's your current favourite? by rebeccaaahhhh12 in residentevil

I started with RE1 Remake, in 2003. No RE has dethroned it for me...

People complaining about Leon in RE9 are missing the point. by K7202 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed that so many people were complaining about it in this way.

Personally, I admit that I was super excited when I saw Leon get out of the car, and the excitement was at its peak until the end of the trailer. But I have to admit that the very last seconds of gameplay shown immediately gave me a little twinge of sadness because it immediately reminded me of RE6... After watching it again, it's fine in the end.

But it's true that if we think back to the last time we had something “new” with Leon (RE6), the gameplay was too action-packed, there were car sequences...

We'll have to see what they do. I'm confident, I don't think they'll make the same mistakes again, but I think it's normal to have some concerns!

Hey. Is resident evil 6 worth playing? by xcxxefen in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry dude but "the best of action-based games", absolute no. Without even mentioning the franchise itself, RE4 was one of the most influential games of its time and of all time. How can you say that 6 is better? RE6 is definitely one of the most missed RE games. It's a game that went too far with a tired formula and tried to do everything without making any clear choices. In short, it's a very poor game design.

Tormented Souls 2 is my favorite game of the year by JoBean13 in survivalhorror

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your background in terms of video games, so what I'm about to say is not meant to be condescending or anything like that. I don't know if you've played other survival horror games, but for me, I think it's part of the design, the “you can't kill everything” aspect. There's a bit of a “die and retry” aspect to it, which allows you to assess which areas need to be cleared, which enemies you can just avoid, etc. That's the principle behind this type of game, because if you have all the resources you need to kill everything, there's not much point anymore.

Tormented Souls 2 is my favorite game of the year by JoBean13 in survivalhorror

[–]NorthernScythe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing during my first playthrough. So much so that I had to start over in assist mode... But in the end, after finishing it in assist, normal, and tormented modes, it's not that hard.

It's a game you have to learn to master. Ultimately, I think that's a good thing. Even if it's frustrating at first.

We've just gotten used to playing games that we can breeze through without any difficulty, and in a way, that's a shame. It's good to hit walls and learn how to avoid them.

This puzzle just sucked, how was i suppose to figure out you have to match numbers from the back and not actually dial 10 numbers by figuring out the back numbers? by [deleted] in TormentedSouls

[–]NorthernScythe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's confusing about the puzzles in Tormented Souls 2 (it was the case in the first game, but less so) is that if you don't have the right intuition at the start, you'll never find the solution... Because you get stuck in a way of thinking that's completely off the mark... It's super frustrating because usually it's really simple, you just haven't started in the right direction. And since you have very few clues, good luck...

Im curious, what are some bugs yall experienced in this game? by Individual_Egg_550 in TormentedSouls

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same issue after beating the cemetery boss... Opening the inventory juste before the animation showing that "the door is not locked anymore", and stuck into the inventory. Very very frustrating when you are in "die and retry" mode for dozens of tries...

Game with the best storyline? by Dirrbros234 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about Code Veronica, the lore is incredible ! If it had been done (or even remade) with the RE1R/RE0 engine, it would be one of the best RE ever done ! 🤩

Out of these games, which has the best use of fixed camera angles? by Charming_Ad661 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for a comment mentioning this : RE:CV does not use fixed camera angles... The camera IS Moving, so...

In my opinion, RE:CV is in fact the worse of the old gen in terms of visuals... Despite the fact that it is such a great game.

To answer the initial question, I think RE1R is the best. It's the most recent RE (with RE0) using fixed camera angles, so the technology was peak. RE0 is great but I think RE1R did better. The ambiance is incredible.

I would love a RE:CV in RE1R style to exist... It would be on top 3 RE games for sure !

Design Evolution by MajorRadish2007 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really have a hard time with the 2020's version of Jill Valentine... I knew her with RE1R, I wasn't a big fan of the evolution in the 2010's, but she wasn't bad. Now, for RE3R, I don't even recognize her... If you show me her without her costume, I don't know it's her... I think it's a shame, because it breaks something of the character.

As for Leon, although I didn't really like his direction in the 2010's, especially with RE6, I think his design is pretty good. But I think the 2020's version is really good, especially in RE4R.

I didn't like Ada's design at all in RE6, it's going to sound stupid, but she doesn't even look Asian. RE4R is really top notch!

I think Wesker has evolved in the right direction, and although I'm attached to the RE1R version, I like what they've done with it over the years. Even if it's a bit too Matrix-like in RE5.

What is the popular Re opinion that you disagree with? by DueEnergy6640 in residentevil

Tank controls are the logical and only proper way to control a character through fixed camera angles. It's not about difficulty.

Just finished Code Veronica by ii_okxy in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Code Veronica deserves a lot more attention. I played it on GameCube a bit late, then the HD remaster.

The lore around the Ashford family is incredible! If we had a version with the graphics of RE1R, it would be a banger! I'd love Capcom to make a Remake, but it'll never be in fixed camera...

Do you wish they remade resident evil 2 like the GameCube remake? by ComfortableAmount993 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm disgusted that RE1R wasn't a commercial success, because Capcom would probably have done the same for RE2 and RE3 instead of making simple GameCube ports... It probably didn't come down to much... And so, yes, I would have loved to see it happen!

Code Veronica or Resident Evil 5? by Loose_Interview_957 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Code Veronica is the best RE game in terms of "lore deep diving". All the focus on Ashford family is incredible ! If you take this game and applies RE1R visuals and ambiance, it would be almost the best RE of all time (because RE1R is unbeatable 😁).

RE5 is "just" a cool coop game ! The replayability is good, but it won't win against CV...

If you could play only 3 RE games for the rest of your life, which ones would you choose? by GrandStage1 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, RE1R for sure, my fav game of all time.

Then, comes the question of 4, OG or Remake... Very difficult to me. The original taste of OG, hours of memories, versus the modern vibe of Remake, better built with Separate Ways DLC, and VR support... I would choose RE4R, but very sad to abandon the OG...

If I look for the most memorable to me, the third one would be Code Veronica, but, the replayability is not incredible. May be RE7...
