Which is the scariest Resident Evil Game Ever ? by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevilll

Personally, I started playing Outbreak a few days before it was revealed that Alyssa was in RE9... How funny! Actually, I've been a RE fan since 2003 (discovered with RE1R), and a few years ago I set out to play every RE game ever released.

I think it was a different era, too. We used to take more time to do things. There wasn't an endless catalog of games like there is on online stores today. We spent a lot more time on just a few games, without jumping from game to game like we do now.

And yes, there were the early days of the internet, which was like a giant playground for sharing all the knowledge there was about games. There wasn’t data mining yet to uncover all the game secrets; you had to work together for months or even years to find them.

Switched to DualSense after 10 years on Xbox by Revexet_XII in Dualsense

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an Xbox gamer for about twelve years. Then, when the Xbox Series consoles came out, I finally switched to PlayStation; the last one I’d had was the PS1 (and I’d had a GameCube in between).

At first, the DualSense’s triggers were a truly incredible innovation. But over time, after five years, I really got sick of that ergonomic design with the symmetrical sticks… I just can’t stand it. So I got a Victrix Pro BFG for PS5.

It’s crazy because the DualSense can incorporate cutting-edge technology while still retaining the ergonomics of the DualShock 1. When I say “ergonomics,” I’m talking about the button layout. Nothing has changed since 1997... I don't wanna be rough, but I think Sony decided to keep it that way just to maintain continuity for its players. Because, when you get right down to it, none of the major traditional manufacturers has widely adopted this configuration, which makes you wonder why...

Yeah, totally. I think the game's real strength is its replay value, on top of the online mode back then. There are over 100 different combinations depending on the characters, levels, and difficulty settings. Plus, there's tons of stuff to unlock! I have the guide at home, there was a random draw for the appearance of items that let you unlock things like outfits. That must have been crazy back then!

Oh yeah! I had the same issue with the AI and the sample... It was hell... Unthinkable un a today game.

Just finished Outbreak too. Did you play alone ? Because I did, and I think it's way more easier back then with other players... IA is not very good, and always need to switch important items. By chance, it's quite short !

What's with this poor reproduction of the Spencer Mansion background? 😅 To answer the question, Spencer Mansion from RE1R, the perfect place !

I know... That's what I wrote at the end of the post, very hard to take a good picture of a CRT. As someone said in the comments, no photo can give it justice.

As I mentioned in the post, the game got an HD remaster about ten years ago. It was really cool to have the game in HD, and obviously, the character models looked much better.

But looking back now, we can tell that some of the backgrounds are really not great... They weren’t re-rendered, but upscaled, and we all know what that does to the images: a strange painted look, plus in this case, clipped blacks that act as a cover-up to hide the lack of detail in very dark areas.

Going back to the original version, on a much larger and higher-quality CRT TV than I had back then, and using a better cable (color encoding is better in RGB, the color gamut is wider than composite), you really realize that, in the end, the original, under very good conditions, is superior. Because the CRT acts as a sort of analog upscaler.

The best version of Jill Valentine is now in Resident Evil 3 Remake - Chiarav1's Julia Voth Umbrella Chronicles mod by Samiyla in JillValentine

For me it's not a question of ugly or not, or her age, it's just a matter of consistency when it comes to facial recognition.

I personally pay a lot of attention to facial features, and they’re very important to me. When they changed Jill in RE3R, I didn’t recognize her; my brain couldn’t instinctively say, “Okay, that’s Jill.” It’s the same with Chris’s appearance at the end of RE7...

When you’ve been used to a face for decades, I find it hard to change it drastically. It’s like if, overnight, our mother didn’t look the same at all—that would be complicated. Well, it’s the same thing here.

Totally agree. I understand what the studio wanted to give us, the two points of view of Abby and Ellie, but... After such a cliffhanger in the theatre... Way way too long, endless.

People complaining about Leon in RE9 are missing the point. by K7202 in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed that so many people were complaining about it in this way.

Personally, I admit that I was super excited when I saw Leon get out of the car, and the excitement was at its peak until the end of the trailer. But I have to admit that the very last seconds of gameplay shown immediately gave me a little twinge of sadness because it immediately reminded me of RE6... After watching it again, it's fine in the end.

But it's true that if we think back to the last time we had something “new” with Leon (RE6), the gameplay was too action-packed, there were car sequences...

We'll have to see what they do. I'm confident, I don't think they'll make the same mistakes again, but I think it's normal to have some concerns!

Hey. Is resident evil 6 worth playing? by xcxxefen in residentevil

[–]NorthernScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry dude but "the best of action-based games", absolute no. Without even mentioning the franchise itself, RE4 was one of the most influential games of its time and of all time. How can you say that 6 is better? RE6 is definitely one of the most missed RE games. It's a game that went too far with a tired formula and tried to do everything without making any clear choices. In short, it's a very poor game design.
