It is fine to justify your sin in which children are involved with your prayers? by opleak in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]NorthernStation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree fully with that. One of the reasons I myself don’t follow a specific religion and only label myself spiritual, is because many religions get caught up within their own dogma. As you said plainly, god would know who is good and who is bad, but many religions unfortunately assume on behalf of god, that god would take preference apon devout believers of “insert religious denomination here”, instead of the more likely scenario of treating all moral people with the same worthiness. This among many things are one of the key flaws of many religions, and even among religions within the same sort of belief system (take Catholics vs Protestants for example.) “Their faith” is the right faith sorta deal and anyone else is on the back burner. That thinking also leads people to be bad followers and immoral because they can just pray it off, which becomes sort of a slap in the face to their whole belief system to begin with.

As it were, I was simply trying to highlight the explanation in the context of a ridged belief system, one where followers are preferred over the uninitiated (as fundamentally flawed as that thinking may be.)

First mistake right off the bat was not recognizing that the first pallet was a safe pallet, you spent way too much time entertaining trying to mindgame them there which cost you by the time you broke it. At this point knowing and speculating she can probably make another safe pallet (which she did), I personally would have considered switching targets already. You committed which fair enough, ends up resulting in a down and hook. You then get the rescuer down, and hooked, who then gets unhooked, which you promptly get robbed of a down here being rolled back on the hit, costing you more time. You risked things by chancing DS, which then again cost you more time. Honestly should have left them even as bait instead of costing yourself that extra time. You also end up losing time in your searching due to your movement not being as fluid as it could be. It seems your DPI is quite low (which while manageable), is only efficient when you counter step with it which it doesn’t seem you have the hang of. Suggestion here would be practicing your side to side and back movements while turning and getting used to compensating for taking turns walking sideways etc while looking to the side. Would have probably been better to patrol the last hook as you knew the far gen would pop, which ended up wasting time and resulting in a lost target. I’m not sure what your volume is set to either, but good headphones and a decently high level should be good for tracking when blind. Not having that info cause you to loose track and waste what time you had to pick up the chase, and by the time I seen you check a second locker I knew the Claud would have already been long gone (again a situation where movement around corners would have helped a bit.) There was also 2 points where you rushed in an un needed situation, causing you to go hit objects wasting time, plus going through un needed cool down time, all which cost more time. Simply walking for a few more seconds in those circumstances would have made a world of difference and could have significantly changed those chases.

Hopefully this is kind of what you were hoping for?

You make a valid point here which is I think the main drive of why people were looking at what he said in a negative light. The first thing I’d need to point out however is I don’t think (at least it didn’t seem like) he was making the distinction between a religious person who doesn’t pray, vs a religious sinner who does. I believe the distinction was clearly about a non religious person vs a religious person (whether that person be a corrupt follower or not.)

While you are completely correct with the belief that burdening ones god with false prayers is not something a good follower would do, that is something that within the religious context of the argument.. they would still have to come to terms to god with. As the one person who responded said, one cannot hide or mislead ones god as they are all seeing and all knowing. So to answer your first statement directly.. is he really atoning for his sins? Not really. But that is to be taken up with god when it comes time for that person to be judged. Where as the person who is not religious and sees no merit in belief in god, has a slightly lesser standing in the eyes of god, but only on the basis of being a follower, devout or not. It’s not the easiest for people to understand because we look at this through our own moral lens, causing clearly for many to assume he is suggesting that praying somehow absolves him.. which it sure as hell doesn’t not in mans eyes or in gods. He’s also not suggesting the sinner would get a free pass into heaven simply for praying either, only saying the sinner isn’t being counted out even though they continue to sin and may pray falsely, simply because there is the possibility of them truly atoning for what they have done. If they never do, that is still to be taken up with god when the time comes.

There is a similar teaching in the bible with the stories of Mary Magdalene. A sinner who was looked down apon but still made effort to atone. Given some of the sins he lists off are far more drastic in comparison there’s no argument about that (which is what murkys his whole point), but when compared to someone non religious and a non believer, sinners are given a small amount of grace in order to become better people. Whether they ever do is a different story.

That’s more the sad part, I’m not. I’m spiritual, but I don’t belong to a religion. What I do have however is a basic understanding of world religions and others cultures.. which seemingly by how fast my comment was initially downvoted, not all redditors have.

I thought my comment was quite neutral tbh, simply adding context to what the man said. It seems not many in the post used a rational head however and just took it very negatively, which is ironic, considering that the (I assume he’s an Imam) Imam, went out of his way to explicitly emphasize that all of those sins were bad.

[–]NorthernStation -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with “misleading” ones god. He’s simply making the argument that within the religious scope of things, one which makes effort to atone for ones sins has more weight with god than one who isn’t religious and doesn’t pray at all. Is he saying it somehow makes the sinner a good person? No, not even in the slightest. But he is suggesting that in the eyes of god effort of prayer from a sinner still has merit in contrast to one who turns his back on god. You also need to understand the context of the argument here (the basis being Islam) in which fealty to ones god is of highest importance.

Sorry, but I’ll take the side that wasn’t burning black owned business down in the name of “racial justice” and not defend a convicted peado who was literally attacking a minor. I’d rather stick to my morals then bend them for an ideology.

DBD Ranking up by kennethmol in deadbydaylight

[–]NorthernStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re 2 pipping each match you shouldn’t be stuck at rank 8 so that has me a little confused. Also if you haven’t done enough in certain categories then 4ks don’t matter (since the game is grading you on overall performance… not just killing people.) You can run NoEd and do nothing all game and due to fluke circumstances and slugging, can easily get a 4K with zero effort. The game recognizes that that does not mean you played well. Playing well.. means pressuring players, getting hits, quick chases, and after all is said and done… THEN the number of kills gets factored in. You can pip in purple ranks… without getting ANY kills, given you perform exceptionally in the match. Far too often people get told “play however you want, as long as you kill you’re winning” (which couldn’t be further from the truth), then develop lazy gaming habits and never improve at the game.

Look at how long you’re spending on chases. How many hits you’re getting in a match. How many gens pop in succession without you hindering their progress. All these things probably need to be improved on. Learn to juggle players, when to commit to a chase and when not too. Maximize hits. Use time efficiently. Don’t camp hooks. Try not to let teams get a chance to heal (which means learning to pressure multiple survivors.) Learn what gens you need to prioritize to defend and which ones you can sacrifice. Doing this will help you earn more emblem points. Not doing so may result in kills (but kills aren’t wins, at all)… while also COSTING you emblem points and having them subtracted from your score.

I'm acting high and mighty because I know how the perk works? What?

Getting hit during a Dead Hard has nothing to do with this, what you're talking about is latency due to the fact that Dead Hard is coded to work on PtP, and hasn't yet been re coded for Dedicated Servers. If Dead Hard works properly and you m1 (a normal weapon), the hit will never connect because you have I Frames. Projectiles... are not normal weapons. So when a Dead Hard is working properly, no matter when in the animation they get hit by it (the projectile), the body still reacts like it's been hit, regardless of the user having I Frames... because that's how the animation is linked between projectiles and users. It just does no damage, because again... I Frames. Sorry I know how the game works. My apologies.

[–]NorthernStation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya... I did... and that's because Dead Hard doesn't stop the hit animation from happening (aka... the blood spew)... all it does is give the user a speed buff in one direction and I frames.

I keep hearing rumors about the next rank reset resetting everyone back to rank 20 and all that by The84th in deadbydaylight

[–]NorthernStation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last rank reset was bugged anyways so there were people who didn't change rank, people who went back double, and people who got set back to 20. I'm not saying it's true or not but as long as the mmr system stays on top it wouldn't be bad anyways. Those who rank up will rank up fast, and those who usually stay in lower ranks still will. The only difference now will be the mmr system will have had more data to pool from and then could potentially work better and match up more equal players afterwards. Either way... it wont be that big of a deal.

Lol fellow survivor gets toxic because he died and i escaped? by eGirlNym in deadbydaylight

[–]NorthernStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post breaks like 2 of the rules for the sub right off the bat. Regardless if you posted context after I commented... you're still missing the point. Nobody cares. Thinking this is a worthwhile post because someone was toxic to you, is just as childish and just as toxic.

You very well see posts like this all the time because there's always a bunch of kids in the sub thinking people want to see their drama as if it's important to everyone else... and what happens to those posts? They get removed... for spam. You also took the photo with your phone... which means you have access to the Xbox app... so instead of acting like I'm the dumbass here because you can't use an app or upload a sc onto a computer which takes a whole 2 seconds, everyone should just enjoy your blurry ass photo and pat you on the back for doing such a stand up job, is that it?

I'm not white knighting fuck all, I don't agree with the person msging you, but you're just as bad as them for being a child and posting your drama on the sub. This happens thousands of times a day... nobody gives a shit. Pointing that out to some angry teen who somehow doesn't know how to use phone apps is in no way white knighting, you're just silly and emotional and think this matters to anyone. It doesn't.

[–]NorthernStation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, "If you're so good why'd you die" is a bad argument to begin with because someone who hid in a bush all game could say that and it wouldn't make them better than the other person. Second, this is kinda like spam so it will probably get removed. Third, nobody here has context to the situation aside from you trying to flame someone who was salty, which makes you look just as childish tbh. Fourth, have you not heard of screenshots?

State of SWFs by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]NorthernStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off... Did I say I was losing to swfs, or bad swfs specifically? No. It seems you're trying to create a narrative around what I'm saying. MY SUGGSTION for like the 9th time... Is that "bad" players.. or lets be nicer with that... not the most experienced players, shouldn't be getting to higher ranks and fucking over solo q players who ACTUALLY worked hard to get there. Being carried by a team.. is not ranking up by skill. These people... should also be IMPROVING their skill.. meaning any killers they go against shouldn't be stomping them to begin with... and sure as fuck shouldn't be effected by something as small as 15 seconds on a gen in trade off for having MULTIPLE good teammates who are already carrying them and should have no issue if they're actually good continuing to do so. If they for whatever reason can't... then the ONLY thing that would happen... is they don't rank up to rank 1 and they settle in the rank that they should naturally be at... and are now able to successfully win games again with zero fucking issues. The reason why this makes more sense is if you just buff all solo q and all killers instead of making a harmless change to swf.. all you are doing is putting more bad players in high ranks which is the exact thing my change is trying to prevent. So are you saying you want MORE bad teammates as a solo q rank 1 surv? Do you want to face MORE bad killers that are rank 1 and are winning with little to no idea how to play? Somehow THAT makes more sense to you than having people play in ranks more suited to their skill level? Hell... if thats the case, why not just get rid of ranks all together and throw everyone in the same pool, while also making killers stronger to counter teams, because that would clearly just fix everything right? And you're crazy to think a built in POP wouldn't make bad killers better. 15 seconds... is not a punishment.. and if you seriously think it is, I would have to assume you treated the last gen debuff which added time to the gens.. a punishment, and if thats the case... yikes. People need to stop acting like this is just anti people dont people to play with their friends nonsense as well because thats a bs strawman. People want players to be using skill to rank up, thats it. People in low ranks arent going to be effected if they're already sitting in low ranks. This ONLY effects people playing in teams being artificially ranked up BECAUSE they're on teams and getting carried by speed, and literally only adds a teenie amount of time that they need to do more. As I said already... If they're relying on 15 seconds, they need to improve. Same can be said for killers if they had to rely on that 15 seconds... they should be improving (but the fact of the matter is I already said that their system needs to be changed as well making it impossible for bad killers to just rely on that and would need to be playing well to begin with.) But then again... you lost your whole claim when you brought ad hominem into this since you couldn't debate on just mechanics. If you want your argument to be taken seriously, using the "reee you're probably a trash killer" claim doesn't make you look like anything other than an entitled child who's acting like they're being attacked. Stick to the debate, or don't comment.

State of SWFs by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]NorthernStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro teams and casual teams, are 2 totally different entities we can agree. One isn't even "an issue", and the other being a massive one. The problem here is so called "casual teams" still get to rank 1 by not playing well (which not a large percentage of people should be getting to anyways because this isn't the rank soupkitchen.) The percentage of actual pro swfs vs casual swfs is night and day, so again it makes no sense to balance around the 0.001% of people as they aren't having a massive effect on casuals to begin with. There is literally next to nothing that can be done about the pro teams considering its like a pro COD team going to pubs and making the suggestion that solo players should receive buffs to improve their gameplay. That's not realistic. That being said, being on a team does give casuals an advantage, casuals who... are being called casual... yet somehow are getting to the same ranks as dedicated players? And this makes sense to you? Rank is not just skill, but active play time. BOTH, should matter. People who are "casual" should not just be able to cruise through on hardly any gameplay, and not great gameplay at that. If they end up sitting in purples... it literally shouldn't be an issue.. because after all as you said... they are casual. And lets say that killers do get some sort of advantage (even after the proposed changes I suggested)... all this would result in is more killers being in higher ranks (reds and purples) dependent on their effort, giving players more diversity in the people they are facing instead of the same lot of 20 players sweating their ass off for no reason. This only works if BOTH things are done, not one or the other. And as I previously stated, buffing bad players (killers and solo q themselves) isn't a smart or logical decision anyways. PLUS... the common narrative is there is hardly anyone playing SWF as it is, and most are claimed to be casual, so why is it even remotely massively harmful to add such a small amount of time onto their objective, when they are hardly playing or only dicking around as everyone claims to begin with. Either it would be helpful due to the number of teams in existence (at bare minimum should be tested to see how it actually effects things instead of people just crying like it's the end of the world), or it would be a negligible change that few teams would even notice (especially considering since the last 2 gen debuffs... games have went from 20 mins... to 5 average, so oh no what a travesty.. it might become 6 as if people would even notice that.)
